ST JUDE PARISH ORGANIZES MAIDEN SPELLING BEE IN GRAND STYLE

The Education Committee, St Jude Catholic Church, Iwo Road, held her maiden Spelling Bee in unique style.

The competition was organized as part of the educational programs lined up for the year 2017.
The contest, which was held on Saturday, 26 August, at the Youth Centre, featured participants in primary and secondary schools. They were split into groups: Group A (Primary 1-3); Group B (Primary 4-6) Group C (JS 1-3) and Group D (SS 1-3).

At the end of keenly contested rounds, top winners emerged in each group. In Group A, Ananti Dumebi emerged winner, while in Group B, Don Bosco Osigwe Daniella came first. Ezedozie Chioma grabbed the first position in Group C, and her elder sister, Ezedozie Favor, emerged victorious in Group D.

The chairman of the committee, Mr Kewulezi Eze, said that it was necessary for every child to experience holistic development towards attaining spiritual, academic and social growth. He added that spelling is a little thing that makes a lot of difference in the academic pursuit and future prospect of a child. He cited instances where candidates failed woefully in English Language essays at the just concluded NECO marking exercise, and applicants lose lucrative job opportunities due to spelling errors.

Spelling, he said, determines to a large extent, a child's level of intelligence and particularly, reading interest which is nothing to write home about at present. He therefore urged the call for community service at various parish level, encouraging all and sundry to give their time, talent and financial assistance towards building a better tomorrow for our children.

Being the first of its kind, winners of the Spelling Bee will be presented cash prizes and award certificates on a date to be announced soon.

Marriage is never a competition Nd besides who told u that if u marry early let's say 25 or 30 that its a guarantee that u will ve babies so early? I know of a guy that got married earlier than his elder brother because he said he wants his kids to be all grown by the time he gets to 50, he is about 48 now no issue. The elder bros that married 4yrs after,is now 52 with grown boys Nd girls. Also even if u starts having issue immediately,is it a guarantee that they will grow to become successful people in life? Just pray to ur God to always lead u in everything u do,so pls don't try to compete with anybody in life especially in marriage.Also marrying at 35 should not be ur worry,u should ask urself if u re ready,mentally,emotionally spiritual Nd even financially.

FFK should keep deceiving himself,Kanu is only playing eye service with him. Majority of Igbo people hate Yoruba people. They even teach their Children to hate Yoruba, but I can't remember a Yoruba person teaching his kids to hate an Igbo person, we are indifferent abt the Igbos we neither love nor hate them. Kanu did say those bad things about Yoruba pastors, leaders and people in general. He has no respect for any Yoruba leader except the ones trying to famz with him like FFK and Fayose.

There is no doubt it looks like a good cause but it has a political undertone underneath so I choose to believe it is not a genuine cause for liberation of the oppressed.

Make a Genuine Confession

It’s simple: you didn’t make genuine confession. Genuine confession is not just using the name of Jesus, not answering alter call and so on. Take the next 2 steps that lead you to genuine salvation in Jesus Christ:
First Repent before You confess.
There are many fake confessions, but if you sincerely want to make acceptable confession, you must first repent. No need for you to confess if there is no repentance in you. Repentance is thoughtful realization of your sins and determination to forsake them. If you confess without readiness to forsake the sins you confess, you are simply wasting your time, and the sins will soon get you down. To repent is not to be sorry for your sins, if you are sorry without readiness to forsake all, you will have a sorry case and that is not a genuine salvation.
