JosBoy4Lif:
The problem with traditional rulers vis-a-vis European Queens and Kings is surely a thing of numbers.
We just have t0o many that are not in congregation with each other.

Furthermore do you mean to tell me that the Kings and Queens of Europe still receive support from their governmental arm?
BTW my support is financial and power support. The fact that the Sultan of Sokoto wields immense political power flies in the face of democracy.
Let me give you an example, the Royal Family of Great Britain are taken care of by the British taxpayers. That is government support and technically most European monarchs are ceremonial heads.

It would be UN-African to get rid of traditional rulers. This is our culture. Who said democracy is the best form of governance? angry

JosBoy4Lif:
Please explain the bold part of your statement?

Their are LGA's in the far North in which Hausa/Fulani are the minority, but it would be impossible to elect a non-indigine there also.
All I am asking for is that we provide equality on both sides. Unlike you I have proffered solutions to the everlasting peace in Nigeria.

1) Get rid of state of Origin
2) Get rid of rotational representation
3) Get rid of government support of Hajj/Pilgrimage
4) Get rid of support of traditional rulers/churches/mosques
5) Embrace secularism and true democracy
6) Get rid of sharia (just as it is non-existent in Turkey on of the most modern Muslim nations)
You had me supporting you until you said get rid of support of traditional rulers. This is something I cannot agree with you on. Traditional rulers are part of our culture and we need to support them. Even the Europeans still support their traditional rulers and their countries are doing well.

Time for us to hunt these terrorist down. Let send these nkita ara to hell!

The only good terrorist is a DEAD terrorist! The U.S. should put a price on all these terrorist heads. Then I will do my duty to rid the world of this Islamic terrorist threat.
Politics › Re: Is Nigeria Still Sovereign? by EzeUche(m): 12:10am On Jan 31, 2010
Nigeria still has the ability to act as a sovereign nation.

However, it has sold its soul to the multinational corporations such as Shell.

The Ijaw could not fight a war against the FG. That war would be over in a hour.

Only the Ndi Igbo have shown that they can wage a war against the FG. If we weren't starved to death, then things may have been different. We had to fight not only the FG, we also had to fight the U.K. and the U.S.A in that bloody war.

An Igbo nation would be good for the preservation of culture and language. A 'Biafra' would have English as it's official language, which is just carrying on the colonial agenda. Same goes for an Ijaw and Ekoid nation, unless these people create a confederation.
I wouldn't mind having a confederation in the southeast. Allow the Ijaws to have control over their oil. Then that will solve their problem. English is widely spoken around the world. Focusing on English is not a sin. It helps us compete in this more globalized world. But we should never forget our culture in the process.

This region is of no concern of mine. If I put any input about this issue, our Yoruba brethren would say I am getting involved in Yoruba affairs.

So I think any sensible person from the SouthEast understand the need to continue to play a spectator while going about our normal business.
Trust me when I say this, the SouthEast is neither interested nor willing to team up with anybody to engage in any war. Nigeria is such a great place the way it is today, let us all live with it and enjoy it.
Frankly, I would rather have my own nation, but I would rather see the Ijaws and Yoruba fight it out first before the Ndi Igbo get involved in this struggle against the north.

Since the Ndi Igbo are always made the scapegoat, let us just watch and see.  cool

However, if any Igbos are caught in the crossfire, there should be hell to pay!!! And the entire Igbo Nation should rise up and fight any invader.

Not all Niger Deltans are Ijaw. Secondly, there have been very high level meetings between South South and Ndigbo concerning Southern politics in Nigeria. That support is not as far off as you think and will be much appreciated.

We need each other.
Of course I know that not all Niger Deltans are Ijaw. Frankly, I consider my state, Abia State as part of the Niger Delta as well as Imo State. You also have Urhobos, Itsikeri, Ogoni, Ibibio and a host of other groups that I do not know their name.

I still do not think the Ijaw can be trusted unless the entire Ijaw Nation ask for Igbo backing. Because, without the Ndi Igbo, there struggle will be crushed. The Ijaw know that the Igbos would make a good ally because of our large numbers.
Politics › Re: M E N D Calls Off Ceasefire -Jomo Gbomo! by EzeUche(m): 4:24am On Jan 30, 2010
Now I will go as far to say, that these Niger Deltan militants should beg the Ndi Igbo for our support. But, first they need to apologize to us for backstabbing their own 'cousins.'

Then maybe, just maybe we may lend them our support. undecided

You can report tribalistic threads to the moderator and let him/her take appropriate action.
Im kind of amazed at comments people getting away with and how they were beginning to poison my mind.

I agree that Nigeria is a highly fragmented society, but this forum should be a medium to solve problems not enable them.
If things do not improve, I would have to leave for good!
I know what you mean. Those type of tribalistic threads were starting to poison my mind. I understand pride in ones group, but you do not have mock another group.

Igbos and Yorubas have a lot to learn about each other. We come from two distinct cultures and that is the beauty of our two people. We are very proud of our roots. grin

^ Hmm, where did you get those definitions?. I don't believe the second half of the definition for Tribalism is correct. The first half is on point though.

But you might have a point. I also believe the word, Tribe was made use of during Pre-colonial/colonial times, kinda derogatory now.
http://www.thefreedictionary.com/ethnocentrism

This is where I got the definition. That is why I said there is no difference between tribalism and ethnocentrism. Both words represent people who think of themselves as better than other groups.

SEFAGO:
I think I bring humor to it. Totally two different things I must say. Please dont be throwing my username around
I will call a spade a spade. You are just as tribalistic/ethnocentric as the people you battle daily on these threads.
Politics › Re: Can We Move Beyond The Tribalism Induced Threads Here? by EzeUche(m): 1:02am On Jan 30, 2010
tribalism

Pronunciation: \-bə-ˌli-zəm\
Function: noun
Date: 1861

1 : tribal consciousness and loyalty; especially : exaltation of the tribe above other groups

ethnocentrism

eth·no·cen·trism
Function: noun

1. Belief in the superiority of one's own ethnic group.

There is no difference. An ethnic group is considered the next stage after "tribal" identities. sad

Tribalism is here to stay. It is a reflection of the society we live in. Tribalism can be seen everywhere. Just look at our national politics.

There is always an us against them mentality between different groups of people. This will not change.
Politics › Re: Hausa/fulani In Abia Live In Fear by EzeUche(m): 9:33am On Jan 29, 2010
I do not know what to think of this.

All I know is that the Ndi Igbo need to look at the events happening in the north with open eyes.

But I have never heard people from the East attacking northerners. We are a hospitable people.
Politics › Re: Map Of igbo Port Harcourt, IJAWS Would Be Minority In Biafra Or Niger Delta by EzeUche(m): 7:27am On Jan 29, 2010
The Ijaws are the Igbos cousins if they like it or not. And most Ijaws speak Igbo. Some Ijaws cannot speak their mother tongue but they know Igbo.

If we have Biafra, the Ijaw will be consider a majority with the Igbo since they are the 4th largest ethnic group in Nigeria.

Politics › Re: Gold Discovered In South West by EzeUche(m): 4:49pm On Jan 28, 2010
Time for me to get in the gold market and exploit this resource in Yorubaland. As an Igbo who technically is from the Niger Delta (Abia State), I think it is my duty to exploit this resource in the southwest since my own resource is being exploited by the FG. grin grin grin

It is payback time!!!
Politics › Re: Human Rights Watch Reports On Jos Crisis-11 Month Old Girl Axed by EzeUche(m): 4:36pm On Jan 28, 2010
How do we know Christians actually done this? Maybe it was their own people, so this could get Muslims in the North angry at Christians and add to the bloodshed.  angry

This country needs to be divided so no more innocent people will die, because of religious differences.

Women, children and the elderly should never be targeted. I am a Christian Igbo, but if these people were Christians who committed this atrocity, they should not have brought the elderly, women and children into this. Target the men, but not the children.

We are not barbaric!!!
