Solid point by Ribadu. What has the result been in Kano under Shekarau? It goes beyond eloquence. What is his record?
Obama won the presidency on eloquence didn't he?

And the East does not need the rest of Nigeria. So what is your point? The East would look like Dubai if we didn't have to share our resources. But I see that there is strength in numbers though.

Yes, Hausa's live in Igbo land or Chad, Ghana, or just about anywhere they take fancy to live. They share the same fearlessness in that respect with the Igbos. They will put their fear aside and step out on chance and they have found that many of these places have turned around to be more than they once expected, or they were willing to work hard enough to make it so.

This is a similiar trait between Hausa's in general and Igbos just like the Lebonese, Chinese and Indians.

I hear more killings in the SW than the East to be honest. Kidnapping doesn't normally have people killed. Even though it is a menace, you rarely hear someone dying from a kidnapping. And only one area in Igboland is synymous with kidnapping and that is unfortunately my home state of Abia.

And as someone mentioned, Igbos do not come to the entire West. Only Lagos. If there were no Lagos, Igbos would not flock to that region.

Lagos is overrated.

Let is be known that the Hausa are in great numbers in the East. Some have lived for generations. Go to Onitsha and Aba and you will find many Hausa. If they can live in the East, why can't Yoruba?

People shouldn't be afraid of the East. The only state I would consider dangerous is Abia state right now. And not all parts of Abia.

I havent heard anything "bad" about ibo land and my dads grandmother is from ABIA. the only thing he says is what the point in living in the East everything you need is in the West- which is true.
That's a lie. People could just travel to Port Harcourt if they really need something. And you starve easier in the West, than in the East. We see how the Hausa crippled the South-West when they said they would not provide any food.

PH is fine. Enugu and such. . . well, I value my life, lol.

Once the security situation there becomes better, then sure.
Enugu is a better place to visit than Port Harcourt in my honest opinion. That city is very beautiful and it is aesthetically pleasing. Only Calabar is able to beat the Igbo capital in looks. And security in Enugu state is pretty good. It is safer than Lagos.

^ Got a question, I want to do a trip across Igboland over 3wks basically to get the Igbo experience. Any recommendations? Thanks in advance ( Sorry folks, don't mean to derail o)
The states I would recommend for you to visit is Enugu and Anambra State.

Abia, Ebonyi and parts of Imo state I would not recommend. Unless you want to feel adventurous or you have an Igbo guide from those areas.

It might not be nonsense because of the large expanse of land and if oil can be found in countries like Libya and Saudi Arabia , then oil might just be in the North but not exploited. It is a possibility.
They have drilled everywhere. The most likely area where oil could possible be located in the North is near the Chad basin. If oil is present in Chad, I am pretty sure oil is present in North-Eastern Nigeria.

However, have you heard of any oil being found in Niger or Northern Benin?

^-- I'm glad to be wrong in this case.

Hrm, now trying to find out how much gas is there. . .

EDIT: Seems like a lot, from your above links. Hopefully this means that powering the SW won't require any gas from the Niger Delta.
Don't you mean powering all of Nigeria? One Nigeria remember, it is time to tap into those natural gas deposits found in your region. cool
