Sometimes I wonder how some of you think.

How else do you think that the SW will produce the Senate President if not through zoning? huh huh
Do you think that if based on merit a SW person will get it ahead of a SE person? huh huh

The woman is talking about PDP imposed zoning of offices, and she is lamenting the fact that Ndigbo ( a majority tribe) are not among the first 5 positions in the country.

Even GEJ believes in zoning offices AFTER the elections. His position is that the presidency is not zoned to North or South, but that after the president must have emerged, positions are zoned according to GEOPOLITICAL areas.

Dora is spot on, but the people to complain to are the IGBO members of PDP, people like Ekweremadu, Ekwueme, Nnamani and Nwobodo.
Gbam! Gbam! Gbam!

Even our women are bringing the fight to the South-West. She is a typical Igbo woman and she is not afraid of NO MAN.

Figures that the Hausa traders are being protect by their brothers in the armed services. Where were the soldiers who were protecting the Christians from the South?

Right now, I see the armed services of Nigeria as the enemy as well. They are not neutral.

looting ground ? are they taking the resources for free ? or do they pay for them ? nigeria produces 2,000,000 barrels of oil daily multiplied by 365 multiplied by like 100 a barrel. we get about 73 billion dollars annually from oil. does that sound like looting to you ? or do you just like to play the victim ?
Actually it is looting and chump change. Nigeria only get rent from the extraction of oil. We do get pennies for what the oil is really worth. If you consider that a lot, then you must be high on some strong weed. Even our oil industry is not where it suppose to be.

Shell has been raping Nigeria even before independence. And the worst part, is that you act like it is your oil. That oil money belongs to the Niger Delta. Not the rest of Nigeria.

People do not realize how colonialism really screwed up Africa for the long run.

Either way, Africa is going to go through a dark age. It has only been 50 years since independence. It took Europe 500 years to get where they are. And people expect 50 years from Africa? Please. . .

This is a very misleading report. And people here have grossly misinterpreted it.

This report is not referring to any fresh violence in Jos.
Who the hell cares if this is misleading?

We hear each week about recent deaths of innocent people in that region and I am getting sick and tired of it. Innocent people are dying each week and you have the nerve to complain about this title.

Gay is against human nature and can only be equated to beastiality.
Who cares about the "gay agenda."

We as Africans have more to worry about than that issue. The gay issue is a red herring to what plagues most African states.

Gabon police tear gas protesters as tensions rise

By Phal Gualbert Mezui Ndong

LIBREVILLE (Reuters) - Gabon security forces fired tear gas at hundreds of anti-government protesters in the capital Thursday, witnesses said, two days after an opposition leader declared himself president.

The usually sleepy central African oil exporter has been troubled since a 2009 election won by Ali Bongo Odimba, but which the main opposition group -- inspired by power struggles in Tunisia and Ivory Coast -- is insisting was rigged.

Hundreds of supporters of opposition leader Andre Mba Obame, who declared himself president Tuesday and formed a rival government, have gathered outside the local United Nations offices to demand recognition of Mba Obame as president.

Security forces clashed with the group early Thursday, firing tear gas into the crowd and injuring dozens, but failed to disperse them, according to several of the protesters interviewed by Reuters.

Police officials were not immediately available.

Gabon authorities also suspended television broadcaster TV+, owned by Mba Obame, after it aired his swearing-in ceremony, according to a statement read over state radio.

The African Union said Thursday it was concerned by the situation in Gabon and a growing trend of elections and governance crises across Africa.

"The President of the Commission, Jean Ping, calls on all political actors in Gabon (, ) to exercise restraint," it said in a release, adding Mba Obame's self-declaration as president threatened peace and stability.

On a sidenote, You should be also aware that Chinua Achebe is very detribalized. The guy is a genius- infact as arrogant as I am, i dont think i would be half as smart as he is in my life time. The depth of his thinking is just ridiculous. I have never encountered the work of any Nigerian that is as good as that. His commentary on the Biafra war it self was unrivaled. Pure genius. Nevertheless, I think he sees himself, like I do (geniuses think alike you know), as Nigerian first and ethnic group second
Of course Chinua Achebe is very detribalized, but he still considers himself Igbo first and foremost. And there is nothing wrong with that. He was born as an Igbo man and it is part of culture. This is his worldview. We all see through the prisms of our identity.

However, maybe I shouldn't have brought that great man into this discussion. I have too much respect for the man, to use him to gain some "cheap" points. But I just wanted to show, that this is an Igbo man who has represented Nigeria on the world stage since the late 50s.

Who is more recognizable Nigerian besides Chinua Achebe? Talk boy or forever hold your peace! I stand correct with Mandela and probably Desmond Tutu, but Chinua Achebe is the most well known Nigerian. And guess what? He is an Igbo man.

Only northerner, that most people heard about is Farouk Mutallab.

This is the problem I have with some of you ibos, a thief is a thief no matter what. If you catch a Yoruba man trying to rob you, I swear, I will join you in beating the daylight out of him.
ibos are not like that, all the thief have to say is nna, biko and he is no longer a thief, but your brother!
This man did not steal from his own people. He stole from the oyibos who continue to steal from Africa. You think I have any pity for them? No. These oyibos already do not give the black man any credit. They probably though he learned this nefarious act from an oyibo man.

I think it is disgusting to celebrate people like these thieves. They are the reason why Nigeria is so rich and yet so screwed up. There is enough for everyone's need but not for everyone's greed- (Ghandi)
The biggest thieves in Nigeria was done by Yorubas and Hausa-Fulani. What this young Igbo man was able to do is chump change compared to the money stole by Abacha and OBJ.

And at least the young man stole from oyibos who continue to rape Africa. Our "leaders" stole from their own people.

Just like your people praise these terrorist and had Nigeria labeled a terrorist nation. Mehn you people have brought nothing but shame for Nigeria. At least the most famous Nigerian in the world is an Igbo man, by the name of Chinua Achebe. No one you northerners have, can even compete with that man. His name is the most recognized name of any African. So that speaks volumes.

Well we Igbos should take responsibility for certain nefarious aspects. Igbos are heavy in the drug trade. From Southeast Asia, South Africa and even in the U.S., there are many Igbos in that type of business.

Don't get me wrong, Yorubas are also in the drug trade as well. Go to Brazil. Even the Brazilians know not to mess with the Yorubas when it comes to that type of business. And Brazil is a very dangerous place. That speaks volumes.

grin grin grin

Well we dominate at most sports we play. Track & field, football, American football. It doesn't matter. The Igbo body has been blessed by Chineke. We believe in strength.

However, I will continue to reiterate that there are more Yorubas in the UK. In certain areas of London, I thought I was in Lagos.

Seriously in Houston I can't point to it that one is more especially in the SW part of Houston go to any Redeemed church and see the number of Yorubas and in the parties among the younger generations after pidgin Yoruba is probably the mostly spoken language
Texas is predominately Igbo. That is a cold hard fact. I have seen more Igbos in Texas than in any other place outside of Nigeria. The Washington DC area is predominately Yoruba. I will not deny that fact.

Igbos have always chosen the U.S. as a place of destination way before Yorubas came to this nation in droves.

In the UK, Yorubas are the predominate Nigerian ethnic group. No Igbo would ever make the claim that we are the majority in that nation.

You know I live in Texas and I can tell you that if igbos are more it won't be by a large number go to most Nigerian gatherings like parties, churches, clubs etc unless maybe the igbos blend and dissappear. Into the AA community
Well then you should know what I am talking about. I actually feel that there are way too many Igbos in the Houston area. Texas is like an Igbo bastion. The sheer amount of Igbos in that state is astounding.

And those are the Igbos that we are able to see. There are many, many, many more Igbos who are able to blend in with the AA community. Especially the 2nd generation Igbos. You may think you are talking with an AA, but they are actually Igbo.

Igbos believe in blending in with a community. That is why it is sometimes hard to distinguish them from their host community. I have noticed that Yorubas do the opposite.
