There are Igbos and Cameroon. My ancestors the Aro Igbo had settlements in Cameroon and they still speak our authentic Aro dialect. The Aro are most widely traveled of all the Igbo. With communities all across the East. There is a saying for the Aro, in which "they are always moving, but never forgetting about home." Home as in Arochukwu. Anyway, back on topic. I enjoyed my time in Benin. The people are down to Earth, the cuisine is out of this world. French taste with an African element. Makes the food even better. |
Yorubas only make up a small percentage of République du Bénin. The Fon are the majority I believe in the République du Bénin. And people need to remember that there are also Hausa and a good amount of Fulani in Benin as well. Don't understand why someone like Becomrich believe République du Bénin is majority Yoruba. However I have been to Porto-Novo and Yoruba seems like the most widely spoken language in that city. |
I am happy for the boy, but I am also saddened that this boy is one of thousands of children who have to fend for themselves at such a tender age. |
Those Igbos in the article better not run. They better stand their ground. Why haven't they avenged the deaths of those Igbos were killed? Why are they complaining? I want to see action. |
This man really believes he is an expert on Nigeria. |
Andre Uweh:What about the United States? ![]() |
Ola edo:Russia will not allow Chechnya to go on its own. If the Russians allow the Chechens to have their independence, then the Russians will have to worry about 10-20 other regions who may want to have their independence. The Russians already believe that they have given up to much land since the fall of the Soviet Union. I am pretty sure the Russians will respond with a heavy hand, once the dust settles. |
Home sweet home. ![]() |
Ola edo:Those Chechens do not play. They are very brutal. However, the Russians have no qualms destroying an entire village or city. The Russians know how to bring a sledgehammer. |
If they can do this in Russia, just imagine what can happened in Nigeria? I just shutter when I think of such an event. |
mens dept:Seems like you didn't read anything. But want to argue for the sake of arguing. "First of all, our constables are afraid to go near Nigerian suspects who are invariably well-built and intimidating,"said the NCB officer. "We have to understand that Nigerians involved in the drug trade are thorough professionals." What does the two previous sentences tell you? And what the hell are you talking about? Was I denying the fact that Indians view Africans as inferior? No. So shut the hell up with all that nonsense and stop arguing for the sake of arguing. |
If people read the article though, the Indians seem very intimidated by Nigerians. Our large size and no fear attitude has cause their very own police to fear us. They even said we are professionals when it comes to that illicit trade. |
buzugee:I claim Nigerian when it is convenient for me. In this situation, it is not convenient.for me. ![]() |
The Nigerian state is representative of the Nigerian people. |
Jen33:Must we trade one insult for another? Who said the Chinese will be any different? Even though the Chinese in the past, have always worried about their own country instead of interfering with others, how do we know they will not be different? Africa must wake up though, before it is too late. |
You run into this problem when a nation has no sense of nationalism. And these borders were arbitraily drawn by foreign powers. What do you expect? The Nigerian people haven't controled their destiny in over 100 years. |
Chime should run under the APGA platform. He already has the support of the good people of Enugu State. |
Ola edo:The West and the organizations under their supervision. UN, IMF, World Bank etc. This is the way the world works. However, change is coming as China rises. |
afam4eva:It only takes one person to be a martyr for the cause. We already seen one person attempt something with OBJ at Murtala Mohammed Airport. |
Bawss1:Execute them all then. I think 90% of all Nigerian politicians are corrupt in a way. Or we should look at in this way. If you weren't wealthy when you entered Nigerian politics, but now you are wealthy, then that should be a red flag. |
Ola edo:Sullivan Chime is doing good things for Enugu, but you know how people are when it comes to politics. Even the best politicians have to make sure they do not have to anger elements in their parties. Just look at what Amaechi and Fashola had to go through. I would be happier if Chime went with APGA though. Glad to be back under this moniker. Now when will you come back? |
We definitely need to execute corrupt officials. No tolerance for corruption should be our motto. And some Nigerians need to stop celebrating these looters. In a civilized democracy, IBB, OBJ, Gowon, Atiku etc would have been executed or thrown in jail for life. |
Enugu guber: Jim Nwobodo, Ken Nnamani dump Chime The internal crisis rocking the Enugu chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has persisted even after the resignation of PDP national chairman, Dr. Okwesilieze Nwodo. This is coming on the heels of key stakeholders and leaders of the party presenting Anayo Onwuegbu as the PDP’s governorship candidate for the April general elections. Among the leaders who adopted Onwuegbu ahead of Governor Sullivan Chime last week were former Senate President, Ken Nnamani, former governor of old Anambra state, Jim Nwobodo, Chairman of the Presidential Task Force on Power, Professor Barth Nnaji, Senator Fidelis Okoro, Dr. Silas Iloh, Senator Hyde Onuaguluchi and four former military governors from the state among others. The emergence of Onwuegbu from the PDP camp loyal to the former national chairman followed parallel primaries conducted on January15, 2011 by the Okey Ogbonna-led executive committee in which other senatorial, House of Representatives and the State House of Assembly candidates were also elected. The bid of the Deputy Senate President, Ike Ekweremadu to return to the senate for a record third time also suffered a major setback, as the stakeholders equally adopted a former Director-General of the Nigeria Maritime Authority, Mr. John Egesi in his place. From the list submitted to the party’s national leadership by the stakeholders and signed by the chairman and secretary of the PDP in Enugu state, Chief Okey Ogbonna and Barrister Oyibo Chukwu respectively, for onward transmission to INEC, none of the incumbent members of the State House of Assembly, House of Representatives or Senate secured a ticket to return. Briefing newsmen on the development yesterday, Onwuegbu, who also confirmed Chief Uche Ogbu as his running-mate, said his endorsement followed laid down procedure of the party, adding that the primaries that produced the candidates were held under the authentic party executive of Chief Ogbonna, which emerged from the congresses held between December 29-31, 2010. He noted that the congresses, which were supervised by INEC officials and relevant security agencies followed the directive of the National Working Committee (NWC) of the party, which equally sent a panel led by Senator Sylvanus Ngele and Chief Sam Bassey as chairman and secretary respectively to monitor the exercise. According to him, the fresh congresses became necessary following the dissolution of the Vita Abba-led executive by the PDP NWC after it was declared illegal by the INEC and the subsequent vacation of the two court orders that restrained the party from conducting fresh congresses in the state. Onwuegbu maintained that his nomination as well as those of other candidates was done by delegates produced by authentic executive of the party in the state, adding that any attempt to subvert the collective decision of party elders, stakeholders as well as genuine delegates would be stoutly resisted. “As I’m talking to you now, the party executive in the state after hearing a rumour that plans are underway to change the list that has been submitted to the party national leadership filed a suit at the Federal High Court, Abuja, seeking for an order restraining the party from tampering with what has been done as well as stopping them from thinking of conducting any other congress in Enugu State. “We hope that by the time the court rules on this, all these rumours about several candidates’ lists flying here and there would have been laid to rest.” We are optimistic and preparing for the main election,” he said even as he disclosed that the NWC had long presented Certificates of Returns to the elected party executive as demonstrated in the list of delegates to the party National Convention which boldly appeared on the event’s brochure.

This is not shocking relevations. The fact remains that Nigerians will not do anything with this news. Now that is the sad truth. |
