Sure bro. I totally understand the talent and salesmanship thing you stated here.

PS... Am not expecting to make 50-100k on gigs in Lagos. I'll work my way up just like all other DJs do. Am still largely unpopular lol

Amen o boss! Wish I was around lag to help you with the turntable thing for you to practice sha. I know how I almost went crazy thinking up turntables in my mind to scratch. Watching DMC competitions didn't help either
Ma guy, you go see some people's mixing and scraching, you go wan mad gan.

haryomikun:
That will be a good idea bro. I mean learning with DJs and their turntables. Rock Raida, Rob swift and Qbert for their best ideas from DJing 'enclosuees' like that too. If you no sbai those guys mehn, you need watch their videos and read up on them grin Hip hop DJing legends, masters of scratching and beat juggling

Consequence is also very cool. I listen to his mixtapes and he's dope (with a few commas though)

If he answers you and decides to hook up with you mehn, you don take your first step to blow be that baba cheesy cheesy cheesy
Lol..... I pray everything works out by the grace of God.

If you're in Lagos, depending on where you reside (mainland or island) there are lots of DJs with equipment you could approach in a bid to learn the noble art.

OR

Find a "joint" that has full DJ equipment and intern with the residential DJ there. Don't go to joints that have DJs that use only a laptop with VDJ connected to a two or three channel Numark or American Audio mixer (nothing wrong with the mixers BTW, just that they are not performance or club movers and seeing you want to learn the art, you need to know the tight professional equipment also) connected to an amp. If you do, you'll never become a professional DJ like Jatt, Neptune, Obi or Kentalky.

Hope I have helped in some way.
Chairman.... You have helped. Even @haryomikun too has helped me too.

I'll be back home by the end of this month. Then I'll begin my search for a place with full dj equipments where I can learn.

I love dj consequence a lot and was thinking of messaging him (I have him on Snapchat). There's no harm in trying.

Make sure you "test" those speakers properly before going live. That's the hazard with renting equipment, you never know what you're getting. Could be a dead amp, blown tweeters, burnt speaker cables etc. Nothing destroys a DJ's rep like a failed gig due to equipment failure.

Always exhaustively test your rented gear before starting out.
Chairman, with the comments you've been posting, I can see you really know about these DJ things (equipments and things).

oh okay. a friend suggested ipaja to me... said I could get it for 150k... but another person wondered why I'd move from Ogun to lagos and still be close to Ogun again
True sha.... Depending on where you stay, you can still easily access the main parts of Lagos from Ipaja.

While not trying to start a flame war, I believe that for you to really have the "DJ" experience, you got to learn more than setting up cues in VDJ.

Learn the art. Get your hands on a pioneer or Denon CDJ (if you want to really be a purist and go all the way, get a turntable while you're at it). Learn how to "manually" sync jams, work your pitch, tempo and stuff. No disrespect to the strictly laptop DJs out there (got nothing but love for y'all) but nothing gives you more respect and swag than when you're with your lappy and your controller or DVS Set up. The crowd knows you mean that like Quest, you mean business!
Chairman..... I also wanna get my hands on a controller, turntable or something. But there's no one around me with one. Was even thinking I could link up with @haryomikun buh he doesn't stay in the same state as I do.

my question is please how can i make a sampler for my self?
thank you....
If you're looking to do a sampler for yourself, you'll have to use a music producing software like Fl studio, ableton and the likes to make the sample you want.

Guy, you don go oooooo...... 86+25=111k shocked

Did you get this cash from personal savings or from doing dj gigs?

And guy that turntable looks nice AF.

haryomikun:
hehe. confirm. controller don cost small sha. be like around 80-130k tho.

besides why the hell do you need a controller to make a mixtape huh

I've made about 5 official mixtapes with about 25k combined downloads and I didn't have a controller. all was on virtual DJ and I have people that messaged me on whatsapp from nairaland appreciating the various mixtapes
My guy, so me sef I see price for controller and I fear fear oooooo.

Some set of people say you not having a controller doesn't make people take you seriously as a dj.

I also downloaded your Solo birthday mixtape and it was really nice to listen to.

if you're a newbie, use virtual DJing for now
it's self explanatory

for a pro or at the intermediate level, controllers ans virtual DJing isn't that much different
Continued using virtual dj since the last time I posted the message you commented on and I've gotten really good at it.

Wanna step up to the next level (using controllers) and I also wanna learn how to scratch (you know scratching in virtual dj isn't as nice as on a physical controller).

Planning on doing an hour long mixtape sef just that I won't have any of those scratches.

Your thoughts on thishuh?

Good evening @xfire.
I'll be graduating with a 2.1 in information technology this July (currently putting finishing touches to my final year project).

My issue is I DJ as a hobby and people have been saying i should pursue it as a career since they feel I'm good at it and I've really been considering it . I also love technology and would love to tow the line of ”Management Information Systems" (mixture of business and technology).

I just need your career advice on what to do.

Thanks.

Car TalkRe: 5 Things That Could Go Wrong With Cars -2017 And Beyond by ezzylee(m): 11:58am On Dec 28, 2016
1. Hacking - definitely there'll be cases of hacking occurring on those vehicles. Watched a video of a brand of "JEEP" SUV being hacked by people. This car wasn't even a driverless car oooooo. They had control over the acceleration, brakes, a/c, doors and so many other things.

2. Problem with law - e be Nigeria we dey nau. Our police officers go arrest you the owner of the car.

3. Limited qualified mechanics - I agree with you on this one. My only opinion is these mechanics should see this as an opportunity. They should try to get the necessary training so that when these vehicles start penetrating the market, they won't be left behind.

4. Confusion - don't really have an explanation for this. This should help sha
https://www.tesla.com/it_IT/blog/tesla-model-s-achieves-best-safety-rating-any-car-ever-tested

5. More confusion - it's in Africa here we have to worry about traffic lights malfunctioning. Except we live in a country that's like playing "WATCHDOGS" in which everything can be hacked.

Have you tried ipNX?
Worked in a company whose ISP was IPNX.... To tell you the truth, they were whack. They had to switch to SWIFT TALK which i think is a subsidiary of SWIFT networks. For the swift, they were paying around 300k every month for a bandwidth of 4MB/S for a month.
