Agu and Aina will be dropped today. Anything else is nothing other than sentiment. Honestly I was beginning to doubt Ogu's ability until I opened my laptop and decided to review our match against Argentina. Waoo, Ogu was slow actually but not too slow, so calm under pressure, nice passes, wrangling his way from tight situations. Also Iwobi cannot play 10 for us, he looses a lot of balls. He should play a false 9 from the wings.
We are secured in the middle, Ndidi and Mikel in one team. We are so lucky.
Aina is not bad, it is credit to him that he can use both feet effectively. He will have his chance but not now.

How can someone propose that the coach should drop one of the most mobile midfielder we have in our team. It amazes me!!
forgiveness:
Yes!

Infact, he was the second highest goalscorer at one time in the NPFL.

He's a forward player and not a defensive minded player.

I will rather drop a midfielder to accommodate Etebo because of Simon's fitness.

Sometimes if goal craze enter em head, he can perform wonders.

I believe it is a marketing strategy. Make it scarce while demand is high. What do you expect will happen? People will be willing to pay more. How can Nike not have extra production
realpoacher:
Something has to be done about this world cup hasn't even started and Jersey is sold out.

This is bad management decision and forecast by Nike...

Let Nike contract its production out, within a week they can get a restock so that people can get this Jersey

Naija Jersey went on sale online in U.K at 10:a.m and sold out in two minutes 10:02 a.m this morning. People are also queueing up in various Nike stores in the U.K. to buy it.
I think @thenff needs to review its contract with Nike.

understood bro. one love.
Mujtahida:
I don't want to talk about this again but let me tell you how I understand his points: he wants the same unit of measurement to be applied and for us to be consistent. If we say club form then let it be club form for all players.

It's okay Bro. Let's move on. I appreciate your intervention. We desire the best for our team.

tbaba1234:
To be honest, i don't think so. I just feel like he has not shown up to half of what he can do. I was one of those who called for Joel's invitation and also called for him to be dropped. I have no permanent loyalty.

Hi bro, go get your freezer filled with wine cos naija fans will pour something during the world cup. Even our worst world cup team still held their own against great teams. Just cooluu temper no cause for alarm. This team has all the arsenal to shock the world. Mark this statement of mine.
Oasis007:
I ain't convinced we are ready yet for the Mundial. The Team-play ain't convincing enough that we can make it pass the Group Stage.

I'm gonna pass my Verdict and made up my Expectation on the Team after the England and Czech Republic Matches respectively. But so far, except maybe the Argentina Match, I ain't convinced we've a ready Squad for the World Cup.

There are things I'm hoping to see from the Team-play, Individual performances as well as how tactically Sound is Rohr on a World Stage. I wanna see Eagles that gonna lighten up the World, that their Style of Play gonna be a Joy to watch.

Though nothing is impossible, but we shouldn't raise our Expectations too high on the Team, rather ready to support the Team regardless to the outcome of their Performance in Russia - cos the Team is a Work in Progress.

Trying to pull your leg but I observe you have a soft spot for Aina. All well and good let the best be selected.
tbaba1234:
Before the Algerian game in Uyo, I was one of the strongest defenders of Elderson on this page. When people were scared of Mahrez and co, i was confident in his ability to keep the Algerians quiet.

So i have nothing against any player. If Aina does not impress again then we will have to take Elderson.

What Sir forgiveness is doing should not be encouraged. The sign of a great man is when you are been cheated and others rise to your defence without saying you saying a word. I am Yoruba but I will never clamour for the inclusion of players from my tribe. Why should I do that. You might say he does fight for others but the percentage is proportionately abysmaly
Mujtahida:
you see thats the problem. great mind when my views align with the majority but not great mind when i say forgiveness should be answered with facts or his posts disregarded? i do not think that is a good way to look at this issue and i feel cheap if i am seen in the light of the advise.
Sports › Re: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2027, 2028 And 2030 World Cup by fabyom: 8:23pm On May 30, 2018
Joel, balogun, Tyrone, Onazi, Musa, Aina, Ekong, Etebo, simmy. These are guys playing consistently for their club week in week out in some of the best leagues in the world. What's your criteria for terming them average. However, yes they are not outstanding but they are not average.
Jarus:
Every other person other than the listed.
Sports › Re: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2027, 2028 And 2030 World Cup by fabyom: 8:11pm On May 30, 2018
Abeg bro, listen to Icon4s advise. We need you to be the great mind we all know you to be
Mujtahida:
lso you see. so how then can you say that(and you still repeating it) that i am acting as his attorney when you cannot state my views on the two points that have marked his views on this thread. you ought not to say that. cos all i am for is for people to share their views and even forgiveness i have tried many times to persuade him to let all issues relating to kayode and nwakali and accusations of corruption and nepotism to rest. the lady of the house here says she hates being misunderstood. i too dont like being misunderstood. for the record i am indifferent to kayode. as for nwakali he will come good after the WC. its the gang mentality against forgiveness i dont like even though he himself does not help matters. we should be broadminded

who are those average and below par players in our squad
Jarus:
Moses, Mikel, Iwobi, Ndidi and Iheanacho in that order are the players we are relying on in this tournament.

Mikel hardly has a bad game in SE jersey.

I'm just hoping the other teams don't capitalize on other average and below average players we have

World Cup: Rohr drops Lokosa, Agbo; Simy makes new 24-man list

Super Eagles’ Head Coach, Gernot Rohr has dropped the quartet of goalkeeper Dele Ajiboye, defender Stephen Eze, midfielder Uche Agbo, as well as NPFL hotshot Junior Lokosa, as he trimmed his list to 24 players, AOIFootball.com can authoritatively report.

The Franco-German had earlier revealed that five players would be dropped from the cut but injury to winger Moses Simon opened up for probably one new inclusion, with Rohr opting for FC Crotone of Italy striker Simeon Nwankwo as the striker battles it out for the final 23-man squad that will fly to Russia in the coming days.

Despite being backed by Rohr in his pre-match conference prior to the DR Congo clash last Friday, Standard Liege midfielder Uche Agbo was dropped after not featuring in any of the qualifiers whilst NPFL goal banger Lokosa also misses out despite impressing in the game against Congo.

The squad, comprising 3 goalkeepers, 9 defenders, 7 midfielders and 5 attackers, will join Chelsea star Victor Moses in the UK as they prepare for the friendly game against England on Saturday.

Full Squad:

Goalkeepers: Francis Uzoho, Daniel Akpeyi, Ikechukwu Ezenwa.

Defenders: Abdullahi Shehu, Tyronne Ebuehi, William Troost-Ekong, Leon Balogun, Chidozie Awaziem, Kenneth Omeruo,  Bryan Idowu, Ola Aina, Elderson Echiejile.

Midfielders: Ogenyi Onazi, Mikel Agu, Wilfred Ndidi, Joel Obi, John Ogu, Oghenekharo Etebo, Mikel Obi.

Attackers: Alex Iwobi, Kelechi Iheanacho, Ahmed Musa, Odion Ighalo and Simy Nwankwo.

Martz101:
Oga with this your statement, i can finally state that you actually not here for the love you have for the national team rather you are here for an official purpose.

even if super eagles win the worldcup you will still have problem with the team, maybe you will tell us they should have won easier with your players
Sports › Re: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2027, 2028 And 2030 World Cup by fabyom: 9:29am On May 29, 2018
Joel is a very technical player, while onazi and etebo were all bruise and power. He always gives forward pass and ecpect etebo and onazi to make a forward run but instead they both stayed beside him expecting the ball. When a midfielder is with the ball others should make forward run not staying beside or running sideways. I think he needs to play with technical players like Mikel, iwobi, ndidi and moses.

Judging from today's game
Iheanacho does not have any business going to Russia.
All other players tried.
However, the pitch was so bad and boys no wan do a moses simon.
Therefore, you should not judge your team only with friendly matches.
Lokosa surprised me with his performance today, he made a good case for local talent.
Simmyyyyyyy spectacular rrrr. Ighalo watch your back.
Musa is good! simple.
Uzoho, no words! future of Nigerian goal keeping.
Congo DRC is a very good team. Our boys tried.

In conclusion, NFF has really tried, I must say. However, allowing your team to play on such a pitch few days to world cup against a strong side like DRC is highly ridiculous. I just hope our boys are unscratched, holding my breath right now.
No bad news please!

Spot on!! Oga Icon4s
Icon4s:
If left to me I can drop our defenders from 10 to 7 so I can accommodate an extra CF in Simi Nwankwo. The thing is most of us here are attached to certain players and would not want to see them dropped. What are you going to do with 8 defenders when only 4 can start? Besides changing of defenders does not really impact a game that much. It is the changes we make upfront that changes the course of a game. So we should have more options in the attack.

Yes bros, but we need to be fair. We should give them the chance to play with our best legs, who knows they might just out perform themselves. Look at our game at home to South Africa our midfield was in disarray. Majority of that midfield and defence has never played together. We got beaten black and blue
tbaba1234:
I think, we should use the game to finalize who should be dropped.
