Being a reaction to the front page advertorial of The Punch Newspaper sponsored by Gov. Ayo Fayose of Ekiti State. If what goes around comes around for Fayose to come back to the government house, it could also come around for him to be impeached once again and land in prison, who knows? What manner of political indecency and desperation is this advert? Who is Fayose to ask the Northern Presidency to wait till 2019? Are we really practising constitutional democracy or rotational system of government? Or is it the resolution of PDP that the North should not participate in presidential election of Feb 2015 as they have to wait till 2019? Again, Why would he claim that the northern leaders that were assassinated, died naturally in the state house just to score cheap political point and lend crescend to his preposterous advert? Why did he need to reopen the healed wound of the northern people for Jonathan reelection? If Jonathan had performed satisfactorily creditably well, why does a reelection campaign need to go this weird? And finally, what does this advert stand to achieve? To discredit Buhari, or to discredit the North? To win block vote for GEJ from the north, or to let his followers there have a rethink and rally round their own? To disenfranchise the North from voting or being voted for as highest office seeker in 2015? Only Fayose and/or his party can provide answers to these questions. But d fact is that this advert is an insult on the psyche of the North in particular and our collective intelligence as a people in general. I strongly feel PDP has shot itself in the leg by embarking on campaign of calumny of this nature against a particular section of the country just to desperately Win an election they seemed to have lost more than win. By throwing decorum and decency into the wind, the ever controversial Fayose has forgotten that his coming back into the government house is not because his wife is a prayer warrior, and is not unconnected with providence that brought him back. And how sure is Fayose that he will live to see 2019, and that he will not die before the general be predicted his death.

Some anti progressive elements are saying the strike/protest is a failure. You are all failures and you have failed. What happened yesterday witnessed an unprecedented turn-out. The result is physical and not metaphysical, what are the children of the oil thieves called cabal and corrupt government officials talking about. Your parent, uncles and relatives looted our national treasure for you to amass wealth that will not last you your lifetime. The hot anger of the Lord will visit all those that are causing the citizens of this country to suffer untold hardship and undue affliction. To those that sacrifice everything yesterday, please lets come out today, victory is at hand. We will not be weary until the corrupt, clueless and visionless government is pulled down. ALUTA CONTINUA VICTORIA ASCERTA. Regrads |
Anybody that says there are no more true prophets, it is only those true prophets in his house or hometown that are dead. There are true prophets and God is still saying something, Even the highly revered men of GOD in this country non of them is as clairvoyance as the man TBJ. I am not his member, but he has accurately and excatly predicted events (good and bad )around the world with facts and figures and they have happened as predicted. Besides, we Yorubas or Nigerians we don't value what is our own. When Oyedepo bought Jet in 1989 we said it was juju e take buy am. If TBJ is an oyinbo man we will take him for another Jesus. His Synagogue Church Of ALL Nations has more white congregation than the black. Whatever power he is using that has brought the whole world to Ikotun or Egbe like that should be left alone, afterall the bible says WE SHOULD NOT JUDGE. Even if nothing has happened by now we are happy God has averted the crisis. Lastly i am always sorry for some people that knows next to nothing about someone or an issue but always like to use their mouth to run down the person. Better have a change of heart you fools! |
No uk court judgment against Erastus Akingbola Former Chief Executive Officer of Intercontinental Bank Dr. Erastus Akingbola yesterday said no court in the United Kingdom gave a judgment against him. Akingbola, in a statement by an aide, Charles Nwajagu said: Our attention has been drawn to a misleading campaign on the case in United Kingdom (UK) involving Intercontinental Bank PLC and its former Chief Executive Officer, Dr Erastus Akingbola in which the bank was asking for a Summary Judgment on financial misappropriation. “Intercontinental Bank had on December 23, 2009 instituted the case against Dr Akingbola. On April 4, 2011, a ruling was given by the presiding judge. We state hereunder the facts as follows: •The bank’s application for summaryjudgement was declined. A summary judgement would have meant no trial and no cross examination too. But the judge refused on the ground that it is only fair for a defendant (in this case Dr Akingbola) to cross examine the plaintiff’s witnesses. Consequently the judge ordered trial to start sometime next year.” •Misleading payments: All allegations regarding payments are misleading. No court has asked Akingbola to forfeit any asset or pay £68million or any other sum to Intercontinental Bank PLC. The case indeed has been slated for trial next year. •Purchases of London property: In his ruling, the judge affirmed that none of Intercontinental Bank’s money was used by Akingbola to purchase any property in London. These allegations are actually reminiscent of the spurious N346billion phantom money allegedly misappropriated at Intercontinental Bank Plc by Dr Akingbola. •Date of ruling: contrary to the erroneous March 24, 2011 being spread around, the judge gave his ruling only on Monday, April 4, 2011 thereby casting doubt on the motive and credibility of the story being circulated. |
BETWEEN JEGA AND NIGERIANS MUCH DESIRED CREDIBLE 2011 ELECTIONS He was appointed as an honest, upright and forthright professor to be the head of Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC). His appointment was greeted with widespread acceptance as a result of his antecedents when he was the President of Academic Staff Union of Nigerian Universities. His track record showed that he is reliable, faultless, forward looking and the best man for the job. But alas, Professor Attahiru Jega has been enmeshed in one administrative inefficiency or the other that posed a doubt on his appointment and competence as the chairman of the electoral commission. He gave a budget of N74B for Nigerian to have credible election; the National Assembly did not bat an eyelid before they hurriedly approved N87.6B, and remember he later requested for additional N12B. The Electoral Act as been amended thrice to accommodate all what he desires so as to give us a free and fair election. First was on August 10, 2010, then on December 10, 2010 and lastly on January 10, 2011. Then what else does Jega need to be a successful and an unbiased electoral umpire and write his name with gold in the annals of our country nascent political history? At first, it was the case of stolen Direct Data Capturing Machine, the mysteries behind the disappearance of these machines has not been fully unraveled till now. As if that was not enough, he told us on Thursday 31st March 2011 that all is set to have the National Assembly and Senatorial election, and on Friday April 01 2011; a day prior to the commencement of the elections he said the commission is ready and we must get it right this time. Both elections slated for Saturday April 2, 2011. Lo and behold, we woke up bright and early, the roads were deserted, we were filled with trepidation, and Nigerian went en mass to polling booths to perform their civic right. The accreditation has started, we queued for hours under an enervating climate, both young and old; then after some hours the news got to us that the election has been cancelled, you said postponed? Oh! Whatever. Jega in a press briefing attributed the postponement to logistic reasons. He said some results sheets were yet to arrive the country. And he hastily announced that the election will now take place on Monday April 4, 2011. So Jega, a professor and a progressive; would have attempted a massive capital flight of printing ballot papers and election materials outside the country? So we are as appallingly backward as this? Let us short down the operation of Nigeria Security Printing and Minting Company and one day print WAEC questions in South Africa, print JAMB questions in Japan, and print may be newspaper from Ghana. And lets us take our security agents to Libya and Ivory Coast where it is happening, if they are so corrupt that they cannot guarantee the security of such important documents. Now the questions are these, Jega knew by 10pm of Friday and even 7.00am of Saturday that the materials are unavailable, why didn’t he cancel the election that time and safe us the stress of going to queue under the sun? All the sensitive electoral material that have been sent out, what are his strategies to retrieve them, and how sure is he that desperate politicians would not have stolen and duplicated them? And if he wants to use another newly printed, and entirely different materials for the election, how is he going to fund it? Worse still, Jega by afternoon of Sunday April 3, 2011 re-postponed the election and this affects other subsequent elections. Why did he hurriedly rescheduled the election for Monday April 04, 2011 without having made a consultation with all stakeholders in the democratic process? One of the ripple effect of his action and inaction is that some banks have already sent text messages to their esteemed customers that they will not be opening for business on Monday April 4, 2011. WAEC examinations were supposed to start Nationwide on Monday and the board must have been trying to see how they will handle the matter before Jega came up with another position. And on the final note, my observation on Saturday was that as at 2.00pm, some polling centers were still busy with accreditation, then when will they conclude the elections? And why was the accreditation and voting not done at the same time? Or If an electorate was accredited by 8.10am, and voting will start by 12.00pm, is he supposed to go home and come back to polling booth or wait at the polling booth and the place gets congested and possibly constitute a security threat to the conduct of the election. Professor Jega I believe can deliver, but let him wake up to his responsibilities. The era of subterfuges is over. He must understand that he is going to be held accountable and responsible for whatever is the outcome of 2011 general elections. |

When i joined this forum, i saw nairalanders as cultured, intelligent progressive minded individual who are excelling in their various fields of human endeavours. People that are endowed with high sense of discretion and great sense of humour. But alas, attacks on our banking system has generated a conflict of interest, and subsequently, this has made us to attack ourselves individually and collectively. I read with great shock and utmost disbelief our different views on this topic. Objectivity forbids taking a side to a story and expressing any form of bias or sentiment on an issue of national interest. All topic aimed at attacking our banking system have created more problems than an enlightenment they were meant to provide. The initiator of such topics designed them with a sole aim of seeking other accomplice that would help in running down an institution rather than seek clarification on a seemingly confusing issue.E.g. INTERCONTINENTAL BANK OF FRAUD, OCEANIC LAY OFF 1500 IN ONE MONTH, WHAT IS WRONG WITH INTERCONTINENTAL ETC Now lets talk, when are we going to stop destroying our banks on this forum WE HAVE DEALT MERCILESSLY WITH INTERCONTINENTAL, RUTHLESS WITH OCEANIC- what's more? Some people worked and prayed endlessly for these banks to remain an entity so when are we going to stop And directly or indirectly we got people working with them too.Foremost, people should do their home work well before raising topics that would make us attack ourselves. I have different accounts in top 5-banks here, ranging from savings account to current to business current to domiciliary ET AL. Nigeria banks are different in style but the same in substance. By that i meant they are all looking for obnoxious profit in the face of a vicious com petion and it is you and i that will provide that profit. The ON different like i said is that the style of making you to contribute to their bottomline differs. TAKE IT OR LEAVE IT A BANK IS A PROFIT MAKING INSTITUTION AND NOT A CHARITY ORGANIZATION What is the hullabaloo about INTERCONTINENTAL charging you N500 that we are attacking ourselves, PHB charged me N1000.00 when i never requested for the card and so on(PLESAECONFIRM). I got a text from Zenith for my Card, First bank and GTb said i should come and pick it up and i know all these cannot be free in its entirety. NO BE NAIJA ![]() LET DROP BANKING LOOK AT DSTV, HITV AND CO, WHETHER YOU WATCH IT OR NOT YOU ARE PAYING AT MONTH END IN NIGERIA WHERE THEIR IS NO LIGHT. WHY ARE THEY NOT LIKE YOUR RECHARGE CARD FOR US TO PAY PER VIEW AS IN SOME PART OF THE WORLD? NAIRALANDERS HAVE NOT SEEN ANY WRONGDOING OR BEING CHEATED IN THIS BUT ON BANKING WHERE THE COST OF DOING BUSINES IS VERY HIGH ESPECIALLY COST ON DIESEL, SECURITY,staff remuneration etc PLEASE LET STOP DESTROYING THESE BANKS OR ELSE PEOPLE WOULD MAKE ME TO THING THEY ARE PAID FOR SUCH AFTERALL YOU GOT OTHER OPTIONS IBPLC,FIRST,GTB,ZENITH,UBA AMONG OTHERS. - My regards |
Banking is a cool profession, but like most other things in Nigeria it has been basterdised. Basically, talking about the pressure on bank staffs for huge deposits. But come to think of it, if you own a business too and you pay your staff salaries (good one for that matter) you'll most likely want them to deliver. the expectection of Bank Ogas is just like that and if well measured may be comensurate to the cash that flows from their treasuries to Bank staff month in, month out. If na u nko? People in the industry knows they need the money, that's why they stay and pls don't blame them. If you have a better offer for anyone of them or an offer a bit lesser, i believe they won't mind. But for now just leave things as they are. |
Hello nairalanders, I hope we are all enjoyn our Easter c'brations any where we are all over the globe. The fact that it has been long i post anything on this column does not mean i have forgotten the house, and it was not unconnected with day to day struggle for the realization of the dream of self-actualization. Hope many of us will understand. Central to my concern is the way the house has been handling issues related with the possibility of IBPLC heading for liquidation. I feel if any one among us is not been sponsored either by IBPLC or any of her enemies, then the house must handle the issue about the bank or any other sincerely and with all seriousness. Shouting Ole! Ole!! Ole!!! on any bank makes us the accusser and the judge at the same time. We should not pass a judgement on any one until after we have come to the end of this melodrama in the annals of Nigeria banking history As to IBPLC pointing accussing fingers at 1st bank, i think the issue is a more sensitive one than the way we are looking at it. Or what will 1st bank derive if this is true? And what does IBPLC stand to gain if this allegation targetted at over 100 years integrity of 1ST bank came to nought. I stand to be corrected, but i think nairalanders should put forward their claims and argue their points without fear or favour, without being loyal or having a prejudice to any bank whatsoever. If IBPLC is a failed bank hidding under the illusion of being de-marketd, its failure,as many of us have conceived, will come into limelight in the future not very distant from now. If not, we should not bury a living soul, let us wait and watch the bank fail before we can be justified, and stop fanning the ember of discord between this bank and its esteemed customers. The shout of HOSSANAH TODAY, CRUCIFY HIM TOMORROW should be laid to rest in the interest of Nigeria and Nigeria economy. Greeting to everybody in the house. Warm regards. |
Like i earlier said, the issue of global economic recession is not only affecting nigeria banks especially Intercontinental, it is a global thing. I dont just want it to affect our nation and any of its economic institutions, so that as nigerians we will not collectively share directly or indirectly from it negative impact. We have belaboured so much this issue of Intercontinental, and high think it is high time we stopped fuelling this issue rather than recommending to the management of the bank if there is any suggestion that can drive the bank forward and of course drive the economy. I am very sure for Intercontinental bank to head for liquidation just ike that, then the country economy must be on the brink of disasater. So brethren, let us pray that all our banks must have shocks that can absorb the global economic meltdown, because you and i will not run to Zimbabwe if our economy collapses. KUDOS TO EVERY ONE THAT HAS CONTRIBUTED, THOSE WITH CONSTRUCTIVE CRITICISMS AND THOSE WITH DESTRUCTIVE CRITICISMS. ONE LOVE |
greatest nairalanders, i have been reading and watching with mounting interest argument accusations and counter accusations, insurgencies and counter insurgencies about the true state of financial health of IBPLC. Please let us all sheathe our swords and pray tha the global financial meltdown does not affect our nation, and all institutions therein including Intercontinental Bank Plc. |
