Politics'I Was Forced To Implicate Buhari’ – Al-mustapha by Faithdamy(op): 12:04pm On Feb 07, 2020
The former National Security Adviser to late ex-Head of State, Gen. Sani Abacha, Hamza Al-Mustapha, has revealed that he was forced to implicate President Muhammadu Buhari in a case of public fund's looting.

The ex-National Security Adviser reveal that he was forced to implicate the Petroleum Trust Fund, PTF, under the leadership of Buhari of looting.

Al-Mustapha insisted that stories of Abacha looting public funds were lies, stressing that those who took over when the former Head of State died were thieves.

According to him, when late Abacha assumed leadership in Nigeria, there was about $200 billion in Nigeria’s foreign reserve.

He said some big names were angry with his former boss because he stepped on big toes while he was alive, hence the lies.

He said;

But before Abacha died, our foreign reserve rose to over $900 billion.

I was forced to implicate the leadership of the defunct PTF under President Buhari then, during the military era.

If there will be a genuine fight against corruption in Nigeria, many people will be arrested.

PoliticsGrant Nnamdi Kanu Presidential Pardon To Attend Parents Burial - Ohaneze Youths by Faithdamy(op): 11:40am On Feb 07, 2020
Ohanézè Ndígbo Youth Council Worldwide (OYC) on Friday urged President Muhammadu Buhari to grant Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) Leader, Nnamdi Kanu presidential pardon and allow him entry into the country to attend his parent’s burial.

President General, Okechukwu Isiguzoro and Secretary, Okwu Nnabuike made the recommendation in a joint statement.

Mr Kanu has been on self-exile since 2017 when the Army invaded his Umuahia country home during operation python dance.

His parents who died last year are to be buried next weekend.

His father, Eze I. Ọ. Kanu was until his death the Traditional Ruler of his Afaraukwu community, Umuahia, Abia State.

There have been reports of millitary presence around the community since the announcement of the late Kanus’ burial.

But Ohanézè Youths expressed worry over reports of the continued presence of the Army in the area and called for their withdrawal.

The group said such presence of the military could further damage the image of the Buhari administration in the eyes of the international community.

They said: “Ohanaeze Ndigbo Youth Council Worldwide is worried about the military Presence at Kanu’s Village, Afaraukwu Umuahia, Abia State few days to the burial of HRM Eze I O Kanu and his wife.

“We appeal to President Muhammadu Buhari to consider the international damage it will cause to the reputation and image of Nigeria to the outside World, as int’l Community are watching keenly to see if there will be any form of Human Rights violations and Abuses by Nigeria’s Military before, during and after the burial rites of the Igbo Paramount Ruler and His wife by next weekend.

“OYC insists there’s no need for any provocative action promoting violence by Nigeria’s Military before, during and after the burial of HRM Eze Kanu, because Abia State is calm and secure.

“Buhari should pull out the Military and accord the last respect for the late King by granting permission and Presidential Pardon to Nnamdi Kanu to return and bury his parents according to Igbo tradition and culture”.

OYC also urged the President to attend or send a delegation to the burial of the IPOB Leader’s late parents.

“There’s nothing amiss if President Muhammadu Buhari in person or through a high power delegation attend and send condolence message to the people of Afaraukwu Umuahia on the demise of their paramount ruler, HRM Eze Kanu and his wife.

“Such Presidential gesture will portray him as a good Father of the Nation, irrespective of the self evident Ipob’s stance on self determination and fight against injustice meted out against Igbos since after Biafra War Civil 50 years ago.

The group said such gesture as a presidential pardon to Nnamdi Kanu, release of other Biafra agitators in detention and sending delegation to the burial will be applauded by both the International Community and Nigerians at home, and will attract more respect for President Muhammadu Buhari the same way as the presidential gesture granted to Late MKO Abiola.

OYC opined that such gesture will also go a long way in giving Ndigbo a sense of belonging and restore their confidence in the Buhari administration.

The group commended Governnor Okezie Ikpeazụ for agreeing to construct the road leading to the community to make access to the community easy during the burial.

They also called on other Southeast governors to help in rebuilding the palace of the late Monarch.

“OYC salutes Governor Okezie Ikpeazu for the kind gesture granted to the Afaraukwu Umuahia Community through the appeal made by the President General and the Prime Minister of the Community for a solid road construction for the community in preparation for the late Paramount Ruler, HRM Eze Kanu and his wife’s burial”

“OYC urges other South East Governors to rebuild the palace destroyed during the operation python Dance.

The Apex Igbo Socio-cultural Youth group further urged members of IPOB and other pro-biafran groups to comport themselves during the burial to make it a hitch free and peaceful event.

“We urge Biafra agitators to slow down on any action that might attract negative story during the burial, there should be no display of biafra flags and uniforms, protests and other things that might give security agents the impetus to wade in and wreak hovac during the burial”

“OYC consoles Ndigbo and Kanu Family on the demise of the Paramount Ruler HRM Eze Kanu and his wife. May God grant them the fortitude to bear this irreplaceable loss” the group concluded.

PoliticsHouse Of Reps Commence Mid Plenary Tea Break by Faithdamy(op): 8:26pm On Jan 30, 2020
There is a new development in the process of plenary in the House of Representatives which allows members have tea break in between plenary.

House Of Reps Commence Mid Plenary Tea Break

The House observed the 15min break on Wednesday to allow members to have tea break while the Muslim members can observe noon prayer.

It can be recalled that, last year the Speaker Femi Gbajabiamila announced that the new initiative will commence in 2020.

According to the speaker of the house, they should use the time to rest and take tea before resuming their proceedings.

He had said;

There should be 15 minutes break during sitting to allow members who want to go to the mosque to pray rather than us filing in and out; to allow members to refresh their minds and their legs.

Hopefully, there will be coffee and tea outside at the lobby for members. A 10 to 15 minutes break, going forward from Tuesday.

PoliticsAgain Electricity Workers Threaten Nationwide Strike by Faithdamy(op): 12:06pm On Jan 30, 2020
The Federal government has been given a 14-day ultimatum by the electricity workers under the aegis of the National Union of Electricity Employees (NUEE), to implement the agreement they signed last month with the government.

Again Electricity Workers Threaten Nationwide Strike

Mr Joe Ajaero, the union's General Secretary, spoke to journalists at a news conference on Wednesday in Lagos.

He maintain that, if after the ultimatum the issues were not addressed, the union would resume its suspended industrial action without further consultation.

Ajaero accused Minister of State for Power, Goddy Agba, of harassment and intimidation during the meeting held on January 27.

According to him, some of the issues pending included, non-payment of over 2000 disengaged PHCN staff; 16 months underpayment of severance benefits as well as 7.5 per cent pension component among others.

He said;

We observed that when the first item was raised on update from BPE at the meeting, the BPE boss was absent at the meeting; we then advised that the matter be stepped down for other items to be discussed

This infuriated the Honorable Minister of State for Power, who said he took exception to that, threatening that he is in control and competent to discuss on the BPE issue.

When he was now called upon to provide information and update on the BPE and payment/verification of staff of Ex-PHCN, he could not.

At that point, he banged the table, stood up and started shouting on top of his voice which attracted security personnel who jumped into the meeting and threatened to beat us up. He quickly announced that the meeting has been suspended and adjourned indefinitely.

The union stayed back as a display of maturity and retired to the office of the Permanent Secretary, Minister of Power, where another meeting took place between the Union and the Permanent Secretary of Power till 8:30 pm on other issues amicably on the same day.

In view of this un-ministerial behaviour of the Minister of State, Power, the union wishes to demand as follows: an unreserved apology from the Minister of State (Power) for humiliation, intimidation, harassment and abuse of privilege, thereby undermining the interest of the workers in the sector.

That within 14 days, all the issues agreed upon at the meeting on December 11, 2019 should be implemented without further delay. If not, the union will resume its suspended industrial action of December 11, 2019.

PoliticsReal Reasons Violence, Killings Persist In Nigeria – Atiku by Faithdamy(op): 2:43pm On Jan 29, 2020
Source: https://www.freshreporters.com/2020/01/real-reasons-violence-killings-persist.html
Following the prevailing security challenges in the country, the former vice president, Atiku Abubakar has pointed out why violence and killings have continued in Nigeria.

According to him, the failure of the justice system to ensure that perpetrators of crime are brought to book was responsible for the continued killings and violence in the country.

The former presidential candidate in the 2019 general elections stated this in response to the renewed attacks in Plateau and Taraba States.

Atiku maintain that Nigeria’s justice system should ensure that criminals who were caught in heinous crime were meted with adequate punishments.

A statement by his Media Aide, Paul Ibe reads:

A society with a derelict justice system is a fertile land for misconduct, according to a popular Africa adage.

To be sure that we are one step ahead of criminals who pose existential threats to our internal security, it is important that we empower our justice system with the belief that when stiff punishments are handed down on these criminals, there will be a deterrence for a repeat of this nature of crime.

So, there is no deterrence to such crimes. Justice is thus key to promoting peace in our communities.

If you give people the confidence that anyone who breaks the law will be found and made to face the full wrath of the law, then people will be less inclined to promote violence and the killings that come with it.

PoliticsStop Killings Of Christians In The North - CAN To FG by Faithdamy(op): 9:44pm On Jan 22, 2020
SOURCE: https://www.freshreporters.com/2020/01/stop-killings-of-christians-in-north.html
Reactions have surrounded the killing of Rev. Lawan Andimi, CAN Chairman, of Michika local government area of Adamawa State.
The tragic incident has draw opinions and expressions from groups, individuals and as well as religious bodies.

However, the Chairman, Christian Association of Nigeria, CAN in the 19 Northern States and the FCT, Rev. Yakubu Pam expressed the opinion on the heels of the killing of Rev. Andimi, by Boko Haram insurgents.

The recurring attacks, kidnappings and killings of Christians especially in the North East by the Jihadist groups have been described as a ploy to set the northern region on fire if the federal government fails to curb the trend.

He maintain that the federal government should rise and stem the tide of unwarranted killings of Christians so that wrong signals are not sent to Christian faithful in other geo-political zones of the nation as it seems the entire Christian community in the north is under siege.

According to him;

Interreligious leaders in the North have worked so hard to bring the two main religions, Christianity and Islam adherents to work closely with one another for the peace of the Northern states in recent years.

The gains made are now being eroded with the recent development of upsurge of Jihadists on the loose in North East states of Nigeria.

President Buhari administration should double up its efforts in the management of the current situation in the North to avoid outbreak of religious crisis in the region which would not be of any benefit to anyone.

the recent video that emerged from ISIS affiliated terror group and the horrific footage released by ISIS News Agency showing a child of about eight years old carrying out the execution of a Christian in an unidentified outdoor area of Borno state is frightening.

The under age Jihadist was seen in the video warning Christians to be ready to witness more killings and as such it has sent shock waves into the heart of Christian leaders and faithful in the North that their lives are not safe unless the federal government quickly arrests this ugly development before people begin to resort to self help.

According to report by Soccer Laduma citing insider source in Spain, the Barcelona star will beat his rival to the individual award. Messi and Ronaldo have dominated football scene for a decade and have won five Ballon d'Or awards each among numerous awards.

The decision led to displeasure in football with Cristiano Ronaldo's mum recently linking "football mafia" factor as the reason behind her son not winning more individual awards.

With eyes fixed on the football award slated for December 2, the Argentine forward has also been tipped as favourite winner for the sixth time.

The 32-year-old has been favoured by history, with antecedents indicating that the winner of FIFA The Best gong is usually the favourite for the France Football's award.

Lucas Modric remains the only player to have clinched that trophy outside the duo of Messi and Ronaldo in the last decade.

The Croatian midfielder was the overall outstanding player during World Cup 2018 in Russia, the same year he won Champions League trophy with Real Madrid.

FashionPHOTOS: Woman Transforms Herself To Live Barbie Without Surgery by Faithdamy(op): 10:25am On Oct 10, 2019
After dealing with an obsession with Barbie from a young age, Marcela Iglesias has spent most of her adult life investing in things that will make her look more like the doll. Ironically, while growing up, her mother didn't let her have a Barbie doll but seeing it with friends, peaked her love for the doll and fuelled her obsession with the shiny object.

Determined to look like Barbie, Iglesias has spent money, time and energy into looking like a live version of the doll. However, her efforts are mostly termed as 'fake' and 'plastic' as most people believe that she has undergone surgery to achieve her looks.

Iglesias while speaking with DailyMail, however, revealed that she has only invested in botox and fillers to make herself look like Barbie. The Barbie-look-alike who has been married for 10 years also stated that she has done Spider Webb bum lift, a lift that involves 100 injections into the bum.

Her hourglass figure, she said is a result of her hard work in the gym and though she has considered surgery before, she gets skeptic and eventually never goes through with it.

However, her husband of 10 years and father of her child, Steven Berman, not only loves his 'Barbie' wife but has undergone surgery to look more like Ken. The couple are not only a perfect match, they are also a physical representation of what most kids fall in love with. For that reason, Iglesias has built a fan base in which children admire her wherever she goes.

SportsRevealed: Why Lionel Messi Could Be Banned From Playing In The UK by Faithdamy(op): 11:23am On Oct 07, 2019
Barcelona superstar Lionel Messi might be denied access to the United Kingdom to play against any Premier League side should they succeed in pulling out of the European set up. The Argentine forward was slammed with 21-month suspended prison sentence by the Spanish courts having being found guilty of evading tax in the country.

Although, he was allowed to pay a fine in exchange for serving his term behind bars like many other superstars found in the act. However, what poses more threats on Messi playing in the UK for Barca is that he is not European, hence he might not be allowed to enter into the country.

Meanwhile, Daily Mail reports that the 32-year-old as had no issue so far due to the dual Spanish-Argentine passport he posseses, making him an EU citizen.

And that qualifies him to travel to the country since he was not sentenced for violent acts. Messi will now be threatened with the problem of going to the UK should be successful with their plans leave the European Union.
Daily Mail quoting Athletic reported that immigration lawyer Andrew Osbourne of firm Lewis Silkin confirmed the development.

He said: "There is a specific point around European games. If you are an EU citizen with a criminal conviction, you can travel to the UK, as long as you are not deemed to be a threat to national security.
"If you are not an EU citizen and have a conviction or prison sentence imposed - even if suspended - you are banned from coming to the UK.

— Barca Universal (@BarcaUniversal) October 6, 2019

"There are a number of very famous footballers with convictions and suspended sentences for tax evasion. They, thus far, have not had to worry as they have EU passports. "But post-Brexit, they potentially may not be able to enter the country (as they will be treated like non-EU nationals).

"Anyone with a prison sentence of any sort, the starting point is you are not allowed in. "This could provide disruption to Champions League squads and also whether they (UEFA) will play finals in England if players potentially may not be able to come in. Clubs will need to take steps."
Messi might however be handed an exemption by the Home Office if the situation eventually arise.

Welcome to live updates page on the bail application filed by the convener of #RevolutionNow protest, Mr Omoyele Sowore, and his co-defendant, Mr Olawale Bakare.

The duo were arraigned by the Federal Government on seven charges bordering on alleged conspiracy to commit treason and money laundering among others.

They were brought to the Federal High Court on Monday by operatives of the Department of State Services (DSS).

However, Sowore and Bakare pleaded not guilty to all the charges against them.

Stay with us for updates on the proceedings…

10:50 AM: In summary, Falana referred to a write-up by late Akinola Aguda where he warned that except fear of economic hardship is removed, the country is in danger of crimes.

He adds that the write-up was done in 1985 and urged the court to admit Bakare to bail in self-recorgnisance.

10:48 AM: He said that the complainant has no serious complaint to his bail application as the defendant does not leave in the US and cannot run away.

He said Bakare leaves in Osogbo and will not go anywhere.

10:47 AM: With respect to the second defendant, Mr Olawale Bakare, Falana adopted his written submission.

10:46 AM: Falana concluded that many paragraphs of the prosecutor’s counter-affidavit are erroneous and should be struck out and if they are dismissed, it means that the application is unchallenged.

10:45 AM: He also quoted the case of Dr Beko Ransom-Kuti and four others vs The State, saying he was personally involved and they were granted bail by a Magistrate Court in Gwagwalada in the sum of N20,000.

10:44 AM: Falana also cited the case of Ameh Obute vs The State in 1994 saying out of the persons charged for treason, four of them are in the APC today and are the leaders, including Ahmed Tinubu, Ameh Obute and Senator Ibrahim, and were all granted bail on self-recognisance.

10:43 AM: Citing the case of Abiola where he was charged with treason and treasonable felony, Falana said Abiola was granted bail by the Court of Appeal on self-recognisance and asked him not to engage in any activity that will jeopardise the peace of the country.

10:42 AM: On the second charge which is alleged transfer of money to Sowore’s company, Falana stated that the defendant transferred his own money and it was termed money laundering.
He added that the prosecutor advanced Asari Dokubo’s case and it is nowhere related to this case because Asari was nailed by his own statement where he said he blew up pipelines but nowhere in Sowore’s statement to DSS did he state or agreed to have done any wrong.

10:39 AM: Falana added that the current law now is that where there is a protest, the police should provide protection.

10:32 AM: He stated that the only time Nigerians have ever been prosecuted for a call for revolution was in 1948, reported in 1949 Rosita Ogbuna vs Rex.

According to him, those young men were charged with sedition.

10:28 AM: He insisted that there is nowhere it has been stated or shown that the first defend (Sowore) called for violence.

He further stated that the use of the word “revolution” has never been criminalised in Nigeria.

Hence, President Muhammadu Buhari called for a revolution and was never arrested or criminalised.

10:27 AM: Falana said in the counter affidavit, he has shown that leaders of the ruling party, including the President, has been calling for a revolution such as in 2011 when the President called for a revolution like that of Egypt.

10:25 AM: Falana further stated that there is a counter-affidavit filed by the prosecutor that the first defendant may not stand trial because he resides in the United States.

And that because one Nnamdi Kanu who was charged before this court jumped bail, the first defendant should not be granted bail.

Falana, however, filed a counter-affidavit and replied on points of law to the effect that in the entire grounds of the submission of the prosecutor who is the complainant, the fear or allegation is that the first defendant was going to overthrow the Government of Nigeria but no evidence was adduced to that claim.

10:25 AM: Falana said that the first defendant is presumed innocent by virtue of Section 36 of the 1999 Constitution and as such, the onus is on the prosecution to convince the court why the first defendant should not be admitted to bail.

10:23 AM: Falana also applied to the court to allow him adopt the written address.

He adds that the application is hinged on the fact that the first defendant has never committed an offence before and that investigation of his case has been concluded.

He also said the first defendant said he will never interfere or make contact with the witness of the prosecution.

10:18 AM: Falana said the motion is praying the court to admit Sowore to bail in liberal terms.

According to him, the application is supported by a 22-paragraph affidavit, three exhibits a, b, and c and a written address, as well as a certificate for compliance.

10:08 AM: The hearing has resumed. Mr Falana informed the court that there are three applications.

He said the first application for the first defendant which is Sowore was filed on September 30.

9:40 AM: The matter has been stood down for 30 minutes.

This is to allow the counsel to the defendants, Falana, to completely file his reply to the counter affidavit filed by the prosecutor, Hassan Liman, asking the court to turn down the application for Sowore and Bakare’s bail.

9:23 AM: Sitting has commenced and a Senior Advocate of Nigeria, Mr Femi Falana, is in court to represent the defendants.

9:18 AM: The practice of allowing journalists to take shots before the judge arrives has been prevented by men of the DSS.

They did not give any reasons but made journalists promise not to take shots.

They were brought to the Federal High Court on Monday by operatives of the Department of State Services (DSS).

However, Sowore and Bakare pleaded not guilty to all the charges against them.

Stay with us for updates on the proceedings…

12:25 PM: The court registrar says the judge will be ready in 15 minutes.

11:34 AM: Replying on points of law, Falana said the defendant have not been charged along with Kanu and that, in fact, in the proof of evidence the first defendant asked Kanu to come back and build Nigeria.

He added that Kanu’s case has no nexus with this and if they want him back, there is an extradition agreement between Nigeria and Britain but the Federal Government is not willing.

11:20 AM: As such, the court should take judicial notice of the case where the defendant has jumped bail and these defendants are likely to jump bail.

11:15 AM: He said he is ready for an accelerated hearing if it means hearing the case day-to-day.

He concluded by referring the court to the case of Nnamdi Kanu vs Federal Government 2015 in which the defendant is charged in similar circumstances and after he was granted bail by the court, he jumped bail.

11:12 AM: For the second defendant, Liman said he filed a 20-paragraph affidavit along with a written address which he adopts as his argument in the application.

He adopted his argument in respect of the first defendant, most especially on the issue of the severity of the offence.

11:10 AM: Liman, therefore, urged the court to hold that the documents are worthless pieces of papers and of no value.

He also asked the court to dismiss the bail application as bail is granted on special circumstances which the applicant has not satisfied.

11:09 AM: The prosecutor also submitted that the exhibits relied upon in the further affidavit of the defendant to say that other senior citizens of this country, including the President talked of revolution.

He said it is an effort by the first defendant to justify the action he is being tried for.

He submitted that it is not relevant for the consideration for whether or not the applicant should be granted bail.

11:06 AM: Liman stated that to demonstrate this, the first defendant when he was being taken away from the court on Monday, shouted ‘revolution’.

He said this averment of the conduct of the applicant has not been countered anywhere in the affidavit and it shows that the applicant if released is ready to resume.

11:05 AM: Liman, therefore, submits that the court should look at the severity of the case and likelihood of the defendant to jump bail.

He also said that one of the reasons bail should not be granted is the likelihood of the defendant repeating the offence.

11:04 AM: He told the court that this is an offence that is punishable by life imprisonment or any other capital punishment.

11:03 AM: Mr Liman, on his part, stated that the Abiola case was a decision of the appeal court alone and was as far back as the 90s’ but the case of Asari Dokubo was delivered in 2007 and that once there is threat to national security and if the severity of the event is high.

11:01 AM: Falana said this was stated specifically in the counter-affidavit of the prosecution.

He submitted further that as in Asari Dokubo, if the offence or allegation involves the issue of national security unless if the defendant shows special circumstances, bail will be granted but in Asari Dokubo, all the courts of the land refused to grant bail.

10:59 AM: He, therefore, submitted that in similar circumstances like the case at hand the Federal High Court, the Court of Appeal and Supreme Court held that Asari Dokubo if granted bail will not make himself available for trial because he was a flight risk.

10:58 AM: Falana said he relies heavily on the case of Asari Dokubo vs the State in which Asari Dokubo was charged with criminal felony under Section 40 of the Criminal Code and the two defendants on charge one and the two before the court are charged for conspiracy to commit treason and treasonable felony like Asari Dokubo.

10:50 AM: In summary, Falana referred to a write-up by late Akinola Aguda where he warned that except fear of economic hardship is removed, the country is in danger of crimes.
