Thanks to everyone who assisted in answering my queries. I have another question, after submitting the applications and the payment been made, I discovered that my 3 years old son's appointment date is a day prior to the rest of us ( I paid his application 2 days before the rest 3). I'd like to ask if it's something I should worry about?, because canceling/changing the appointment date will attract lost of 77$ user fee and some other long procedural process. |

Hello everyone, please I'm having difficulties making payments for UK visa application. We're a family of 4, and after I successfully made the first payment of 567$ the other application fees would go through. I have made several calls to access bank, they claimed everything is fine from their end that the unsuccessful payments I complained about didn't hit their server (Not seen). I even tried paga, which also failed even though I was debited the 567$. Has anyone been in this situation before? please help a brother. |

Hi everyone, thanks for the wonderful job of sharing informations here. Please, I need your advice and suggestions, 1'm 34 yrs old, married with 2 kids, presently a property manager (I own a real estate management business with my wife for nearly 3yrs), my highest educational qualification is Msc (Real Estate Management and Investment 2015). Prior to my Msc, I had a Bachelor degree in Teacher Education/Physics.
Here is my situation, I'm planning to apply for Canadian PR via express entry pool, and thinking of the probability of shooting 2 birds with one stone (Although I prefer Australia because of the weather), but the process and procedure of the Aussie own seems not too straightforward like the Canada, I'll like great people here to use my situation in the first paragraph in advising me. I will be glad to know if my my occupation is listed on Australian skill list?,if yes, how do I go about about the assessment and application?, and any other advice.
I'm asking these questions because of confusing and conflicting information I have read about the Australia stuff. Thanks for your assistance. |

Kudos to you for the detailed information. ICaSNg: Addressing important issues and follow-up on life in Ireland after Academics ===============================================
1. The English test is an important part of your admission & Visa application. Each university have waivers in requirements for admission and /or minimum scores on the English test. Although, some Universities and colleges waive English test as a solid requirement, while others offer a provisional offer without IELTS/PTE however, its required you present one to confirm your offer/ space and its definitely required for visa applications.
2. Within the last few months, this thread has helped students get offers and visa approved for Ireland- Griffith college received an all time high of 15+ students from Nigeria beating other Universities for highest intake for January students from Nigeria. Our hard work is being appreciated and all thanks to you all for views, comments , shares and contributions. For september we have an exclusive discount from Griffith , DBS, DIFC (*A foundation and pre-masters college) @ICaS for 10 students @EUR10,000 - 15,000 (EUR 1,000 each)*** Other conditions apply to qualify.
We are hoping other Universities will present thiers within the next few weeks.
3. A few people have reached out though not publicly about visa refusals; circumstances have been due to previous refusals or proof of funds .
Addressing the above: 1. If you have previous visa refusals , kindly include in your application and also include copies of these refusal letters.
2. Please note that your "Statement of purpose" used the course of getting an admission offer will certainly differ from the one to be submitted for visa application- Emphasis should be on why you've chosen Ireland as a study destination amongst other key areas to be covered.
3. Minimum deposit to be paid to your host University is EUR 6,000. There is a difference between minimum payment to confirm a place and minimum tuition deposit. Exceptions however apply to high ranked Universities i.e once your Tuition is above 12, 500 euros, Please ensure to pay at least 60% to 80% of your overall Tuition fee.
4. Most Universities have Health Insurance included in their tuition fee while others don't - Don't worry Medicover is just EUR 120
5. When / If using a sponsor, its logical that your funds cover the expected balance you should have an excess to cover expenses of your sponsor.
6. It is worthwhile to mention that application deadline for most Universities is between April and May, 2018 for September, 2018 intakes;
7. For September, 2018 intakes visa application can be pursued as from 1st week in June- Avoid late submissions- this results in refusals oftentimes as visa officers will be stressed out and won't have time to vet applications properly.
8. It is worthwhile to note that although you are permitted to work 20 hours during term-periods and full time during the 3 months summer break but this may not be enough to pay balance on your Tuition fees but it will definitely be able to pay for house rent, feeding and other basic expenses.
9. Finally, people who pay their overall tuition fees stand a better chance of having their visas approved; although most people on this thread have only paid the 6,000 euro and still got their visas approved. Also, avoid duping huge sum of money into your account for visa application.

Life before / after Academics ==================
1. For fellow Nairalanders following this thread who already have a masters degree either from the UK or Nigeria in fact from anywhere in the world and your discipline or work experience falls into : Health sciences, Sciences, Finance, ICT, Engineering ; I feel its cost effective to source for countries where you can permanently settle preferably with your family members.
Example of these countries include: Canada, Australia and the US (once they implement their points based immigration system).
Permanent Residence Route ======================
This route allows you migrate to Canada with your family members all at once; however, your occupation should be on the list either via academic achievements or relevant paid employement.
With the Canadian PR, you are entitled to work ,live and trade like other Canadians, your kids have access to child benefit of up to CAD$1,500 PER MONTH and you can get your citizenship within 3 years of living in Canada among other benefits. However, this process requires commitment and funds.
The Canadian permanent residence permit requires you have some sort of higher education @ least a diploma and relevant work experience . Evaluation of your academic results Proof of funds General English Proficiency test (IELTS ) Processing time is between 5- 12 months on the maximum International travelling passport for all your family members.
2. As I mentioned few weeks ago, Ireland can be used as a 'Stepping stone' to other countries for those who may not like the conservative European life-
However, Ireland itself has Permanent Residence available called indefinite leave to remain though 4-5 years relevant work experience within the country is required or in simpler terms , an employment offer from an Employer for an overall of 4 years at least.
For Canada, you only need at least 1 year work experience while Australia lays more emphasis / assigns more points on relevant work experience.
3. For Engineering graduates from countries including the UK, US, Ireland, SA etc excluding Nigeria, Australia issues 18 months post-study work visa. This requires IELTS - General, academic results, medical report and police clearance; you can more to Australia with this visa category with your family , live and work for 18 months however, you're expected to cross on to the PR permit before your 18 months lapse.
4. For Nurses and Medical Doctors, the UK is recruiting Nurses: Nurses only have to pass their Academic / UKVI IELTS @ 7.0 for each band to get their NMC pin to get an adaptation placements; while doctors need to pass both IELTS and plab exams .
Hopefully we will be able to share more information. For all those resuming in Feb, have a safe trip and for all our Jan/feb/Sept 2018 class we wish you SUCCESS and a prosperous Year ahead. |

Thanks for the detailed information. I noticed you wanted to send me a mail here, I'll love to have contact with you if it doesn't violate the rules here.
Hello Sir,
Welcome on board. Yes PhD students are the only category of students allowed to bring dependents whilst studying.
As research program admissions are not always as straightforward as masters or bachelors degree; you'll need to decide on what type of research Topic you want to work on and then start research on which Universities have such opportunities OR vice -versa. The positive side for research student is the grants available to them either as fully funded or as stipends or 25% - 50% off Tuition fees after the first 2 years. i.e after 2 years on the program , you can get a discount of between 25-50% on your Tuition.
As for dependents, your spouse is allowed to work full-time e.g I know of a senior business partner in Cork, the husband is a research student while the wife works on their family business and also holds another full-time job. The kids however if below 16 years can attend "National schools" i.e public schools however you need to pay for other expenses e.g Uniform, textbooks, health Insurance which is as low as 120 euro per year.
Pros: You are adding knowledge , your family can move with you and eventually you can settle permanently in Ireland. After 4 years of academics, you're entitled to 2 years of work permit. During this time if your spouse gets an overall of 4-5 years experience, she can nationalize and bring the whole family on board.
Cons: This primarily or solely depends on funds you have available- You will be putting nothing less than 30,000 euro into their system just on Tuition fees excluding rent and other living costs for at least 4 years exception to if you get a scholarship right from the on start.
Hope this answers your queries.
|

I want to know if a Phd student can bring dependents (Wife and kids) to Ireland? if yes what are the procedures, are children allowed to attend tuition free schools like UK and what is the fate after 4yrs of Phd and so on, I'm asking because of conflicting information gathered as regards to this. Thank you all for your suggestions, I just got the ml350 2012 last this month from USA, its Tokunbo with 87k miles. Anyone with good workshop address to service the car around lagos/Ibadan would be appreciated. shortgun: The truth is that when they grade oil they will always consider winter climates 1st before tropical climate like ours. Cars that are here have no business with 0wxx graded oils. you will never need to crank ur engine in freezing temperatures here.
Age of engine have alot to do with grade of oil to be used for servicing... unless u have a way to eliminate wear n tear that occurs during friction which is impossible. As rugged as Benz engines are they also will succumb to frictionally forces with time. |

Thanks in d application it was for 10 days in August but visa was issued late. My second child was born in Edinburgh while having my Msc so they're used to cold weather, they're missing just few days of school which is no big deal I guess. bigbus: Wait,... Did you fill for 5 weeks vacation in your visa application? If you filled less days, you can consider cutting the vacation short to match the visa application data. I don't know whether schools now get 5 weeks holidays during Christmas period (used to be 3 weeks). Winter is cold o; too long and they will be hankering for an earlier return to the tropics. |

Again to avoid confusion, they are only going directly to Edinburgh and no more london as mentioned on the application in August. fakmurphy: Thanks initially in August I booked hotel for the visa, but this Edinburgh thing they'll spend 5 weeks and on booking.com for instance no chance of booking exceeding 30days stay I would have booked one for purpose of passing the boarder. |

Thanks for your help I really appreciate, I remember there use to be a photocopy desk (not free) at the Ikeja centre, are they still doing that? Brightingsus: TLS would not send your original documents to Sheffield. They would scan them at your appointment and give the documents back to you and send the scanned documents to Sheffield. All those documents you use as supporting documents need to be A4 for them to scan them. If you have any documents that aren't on A4 size paper, then you make a copy of that document unto a standard A4 size and attend the appointment with these and the rest..
YOU ONLY NEED TO PHOTOCOPY DOCUMENTS THAT ARE EITHER SMALLER OR LARGER THAN A STANDARD A4 SIZE, e.g. marriage certificate... |
