Despite all this, both systems are still heavily dependent on international trade and laws. China had an export or perish mentality. The rich Gulf states live and die based on the price of the crude oil or gas they export in very large numbers. Even Japan, too, lived and died based on international trade, and still does, down to this day.

Can Afghanistan prosper without the present international system? It will be very limited. Who would honor its Letter of Credits or Bank Guarantees? Which foreign banks will do business with Afghan banks? These are issues that can't be chucked out the window.

China, the world's second largest, economy may be a lifeline. They are ready to do business with anyone without asking questions. Whether the Taliban would be happy dining with a country that treats fellow Uighers horribly and enforcing a shaving of beards on that minority is another thing.

If the Taliban are able to turn a blind eye to the sinful opium business, it might also be ready to sleep with the Chinese. The Chinese would be more than happy to take advantage of the numerous rare earth minerals and other riches lying underground. Now there is relative peace, mining can proceed big time.

Nevertheless, Afghanistan does need access to international community for it to do very well.

Whether you like it or not, that's the painful truth.

No one is disputing the importance of international relations including myself, Nigeria is ruled by Nigerians, why can't Afghans rule themselves?

Of course, the Taliban wants international relations with the world. The question is "Does the world want relations with the Taliban" and the answer is a fat no.

Note: I am not judging them and I believe they have moderated some of their extreme ways. To what extent is this moderation, I don't know. However, I'm not a decision maker in the international community and my thoughts and your are of no use.

One big problem that may come out of this is thst the Taliban victory may embolden other islamist group to do likewise wherever they are. This is something the international community won't accept. Somalia comes to mind.

North Korea does not need a mention as it does does have international trade relationship with many countries.

It's Iran and Somaliland that deserve mentions and not North Korea

Of course at that moment they were freedom fighters and after defeating Soviet union with the help of US. US left them till 2001.
