Okay sir,So far so good. Deutsche is okay if u learn it. cos you can always use it to interract easily. But it's not something u have to kill yourself for if you don't learn before coming here. I didn't learn shishi but i don't have problem communicating as everyone here speaks English.(May differ for some cities).

As for spending on food, 50euros is enough to take you for a month. Some even spend less than that, yet some still spend more than that. I spend nothing more than 50 euros on food monthly(mind you, i eat like maddd ).

As for schooling, as you make your bed ,so you will lie on it. You read, u pass. If you don't read, u fail.
God has been realy good.

AM still waiting for my permit tho, i was asked to wait for 2 more weeks so they can review my security details. Their reason for doing that was cos Nigeria has now been added as a terrorist nation. Thats what boko haram has brought for us. But we big pass dem. Amen

@eke40seven, boss I hope u still remember me?, u advised me a long time ago to settle down For Noun for their 1st year transcript instead of applying for Language school cos u said sumfin like " that the language school is valid for 1 year and I will come back to naija to still apply for Bsc", now am considering studying in Ghana, can I apply from a Ghanian. Institution? I chose ghana so that should incase I fail to secure a german visa I will continue with my studies and maybe apply for MSC in germo!

Well Berlin somewhat doubles as an Abuja and Lagos of Germany. 3.5 million people are not there for nothing. It may not be up there with the likes of Munich and some southern cities economically and job wise for student but its far more cosmopolitan and a catchment area for students around Brandenburg and neighboring east German state.
In conclusion, its comparatively okay for jobs.




Thanks for the compliment, check university of Oldenburg, they offer English taught programme in Microbiology both for summer and winter.

I have been off for a while busy, but I guess I have followed from the last time I visited. I will implore visa hopefuls to do that it helps and not just when you need to ask a question.
@ogompaul, I think you are a culprit, you were talking about the decision on language school which I guess I used a full page talking about the enquiries I made about same issues from the embassy and their position on it. it was just 3 or 4 pages from your post. Sorry for the rejection, with only one application, the possibility of that happening is rather high.
Tayoslayer, I think I have seen material science and Engr courses but of course in Germany, without the german language proficiency you are limited with courses that you can choose from. of course except you wanna do courses like Economics or computer science and engineering. just check, open your mind because there are courses you are fully qualified to do as an engineering student. do the checks, I have.
@esdajo, that thing wey you talk, we don talk am tire. Your Frankfurt and der oder na small town o. but e no far from Berlin, may be that's an advantage with semester tickets of course

For the "no German no work" thing, well that rule MAY NOT be exclusively true for some states and jobs. I can tell you authoritatively. Go to the right place and do the right thing and you will find. I have spoken to some students in some quarters and they confirmed it. the thing is, getting jobs is like getting school in Germany, without the language you are of course limited. some courses offer English language course while some do not at all. So are the cities. So as you are choosing review your city with care. Make una no fear of course, if you do your homework well.
Someone asked about Tubingen, in BW. well, its a uni town really. But you can look beyond there and see Reutlingen which is less than 20 minutes away and Stuttgart, which is not more than 30-40 minutes. these are very great places for survival.

I would really be honest with you, from B1 you would speak and understand German but language is an individual thing, i've see B1 holders,who speak very well and understand German.
Don't forget you are only allowed to work 120 half days or not more than 20hrs per week as a foreign student.

The second question is ,can you balance work and studies and make good grades? My small advice, secure financial support for the first 2 years ,so you can integrate and know,how to balance things up.

What do you want to study? Where do you want to study? UNI or FH


I see alot of people here are so focused on UNI, abeg FH too dey germany.

I met all the requirements except dat I didn't write English proficiency exam becos they said dey would accept letter from my B.sc university if I was taught in English, So I collected letter from my school. again, they didn't even say why I wasn't accepted, dey just wrote rejected. Mehn it's so painful, after all d running up nd down.

I won't lie you, no german, no job, if you are preparing to come here, learn programming languages,gertoo and you go work for one small company like my Vietnamese classmate did.

If you were going for undergraduate program, I would say they asked you to come because they want to give you a Maths test. Last week, my friend had his interview and this Tuesday he was asked to come to Embassy so we wondered what might be wrong, when the guy got there, they gave him maths test to write and ask him to go that he will hear from them.

Things are changing.....

But for your case a Law student who doesn't do Maths, I don't think it's Maths they want to set for you.

Or have they started setting test for Master applicants too?

The agent registered it, he has the password. Let him not fool you. He may not want to give you now because he wants everything to go through him which is more money for him on the long run. Situations may arise when you have to send it to more schools than you filled when registering with him. In this case, instead of simply going to the official ets website to have them send it to the various schools at a minimised rate, you must go back to him to have it done at his own rate, which I can assure you is way above what ets charges.
If you are okay with this though, and you are not in a hurry to see your scores and apply to your school, then you may have to hold your horses and wait for the hard copy to get to you. In my case, I waited for around 1-1/2 months, although I had already viewed my score online,saved and sent it to my intended schools

Generally german-english programes gives lectures in both languages . Most dual language programes utilises a 50/50 lecture sequence(equal number of lectures in both languages),though some programes might use more german or more english as the case may be . That being said,such dual language courses aren't much different from the ones entirely based on german in terms of requirements.u need at btw a2/b1 at the very least in that regard.


You need to be at least on conversational level(somewhere btw late a1 and a2) to get a job ,though there are exceptions . Generally,you need to be quite proficient in german to get a job as most job offerings are advertised in german.


There are a lot of student jobs available as our OGAS over there has made us belief provided you can speak a lil german. Some jobs pay quite a lot,others not so much depending on location and a host of other factors
