the only time I experience failed nursery (cucumber) is when I bought fake cocopeat, when I noticed, I rushed to bought another, then did another nursery... very painful experience. waste of time, waste of money.

good day everyone,as we have started gradual preparation for 2023 farming season, please i would like to know important ,last year i used raised bed for my nursery preparation and i have decided to use seedling tray and coco peat this time. i've seen several suggestions online about using cocopeat in nursery preparation and different models of using them,the models includes ,
1) just ordinary cocopeat soaked in water
2) soaked coco peat mixed with manure
3) NPK added to the water used in soaking cocopeat
4) calcium nitrate added to water used in soaking cocopeat
5) Tecnokel Amino CaB (liquid calcium) and DI grow red added to the water used in soaking cocopeat.

please guys which of this methods is tested and trusted method to guarantee the best result..

please treat as urgent.

I always go with number 1, Although I do make sure land am placing it is very fertile, I even add little dry manure to land before placing the seedlings tray. I have seeing Number 2 too but make sure the manure is dry!

1. Do you use venturi while fertigating or you do top or side dressing alone?
2. When pruning your cucumber plants, how many vines do you leave unpruned to ensure maximum production?

1. Side dressings. 2. It depends on weather and how foliage it is, sometimes I prune two times, sometimes one and sometimes none.

Cucumber price at the moment is 7-5k, depend.

Crate grade 1 range between 5-3k at the moment...

I think it one of tomato disease...I always see it in my farm, at least one in two thousand stand. Nothing you can do about this stand, just remove it.

Those that has cucumber fruit at the moment are really cashing out big time.... price range between 13-15k here this morning in Akure. Wow...I don't have holiday thing

Planting cucumber this harmattan. Does anyone has experience of challenges to prepare for. I dont have seed trays so I would be plantong direct to field.

it is risky planting direct as insect and rat can pick large percentage, you know how the seed is expensive and hope you have plan for that. Once dew is back downy mildew will be on rampage, you should be prepare. If you don't want bitter fruit irrigate very well Sir. Also, get insecticide that has imidacloprid as ingredient.

I took my last harvest for this year this morning, and I sold 10 and 9k. Holiday thing .....

Tomato range between 6-5k for grade 1. This will be my last update for this year, I took my last harvest this morning. Holiday begins today... till next year preparation for another season will start by mid January.

@farmer Akinloye, pls how best can I tackle white flies this dry season, they are just too much. They've started destroying my cucumber leaves, turning yellow. I do spray imiforce and d"d force at five days interval.

white flies are not responsible for the yellow leaves, it either nutrient deficiencies or Downy mildew. Only imiforce is enough to deal with white flies (5 days interval) 15ml per 16l knapsack tank.

go to where you intend selling, ask if it's acceptable and command respect. Believe me! You don't want to be at mercy of buyers. Imagine your friends selling at 10k per bag, and your own is being price 2k for thesame bag , it happened to a friend of mine. Some are buying greengo seed for 20-18k now because of scarcity, do you think they are fool? If it for personal consumption no problems Sir, but for commercial purpose make enquiry!

No it's not fair. Normally seed yams are heaped in 100's that is 1hand= 100 pieces of small but whole yam seeds set aside for planting. At this period that is December to January it is usually cheaper to get but from February you start getting ridiculous price.

At this period whole sett seed yams should go for between 20 to 25k per hand while cut pieces go for 15 to 20k per hand. At this period whole sett seed yams are common and whether e carry multiple tubers or not. It is usually the job of the seller to separate multiple tubers

you Should factor variety and quality of the seed, between I broken some to like 4,3 and 2. If you are buying viable quality Head yam which you can't break into 2 in my area, you have #200 per one. I saw lesser price and More quantity that day, but I decided to went for this One. It is possible am reaped up like you said, but for me variety,quality and viable matter when am choosing seed!

yam don't need water to pull out/germinate. If you want to harvest yam by next year June/July, time to plant is nov-jan. Once it sprout out,I will mulch the young leaf so it'll not get burn by sun.

I sold 12k flat this morning.

Next...I break the yam seed, deep the seed inside insecticide then planted it yesterday. Once the yam sprout out, I will do first weeding then use the unwanted plant to do mulching.

that means you have watched my YouTube channel, that's pinch chemical is "nematicide" I use it to treat nematodes inside the soil. It makes sense to always treat land you have never use for vegetable before.
