I agree with all REUBEN010 wrote! 3 acres for sell every months is possible in my own opinion because there is market for it anytime any day. However, you need to be serious, you will need at least 40 permanent workers for effectiveness and truck. Market is available in south south, South East and Lagos. Your problem will be disease and labourer management. Ready to listen and don't be greedy as you venture into this tedious and lucrative business! Good luck! My one cent!

Good evening boss.I actually started this tomato farming around March with the help of someone one who has been in field for a while now,But I didn’t get good results due to fungus attack even tho I have been using some fungicide (saaf and five star)tho I only used the five star to control it when the damage has been done .most times,I notice white spots on my green tomato fruits after rain,I will continue to spray it with five star fungicides ,this spots will later heal back and turn black spots on the tomato till harvest thereby causing me to sell at very low price .pls I’m already planing to start my second nursing,which fungicides do you suggest I should introduce and how to use them.

what you describe is blight, which I fear pass in all disease that affect tomato.you supposed to introduce that five star to your plant when is exactly a month on field at 15ml per 16 in the evening and at least once in three weeks, you can increase the dosage to 20ml if the disease is obvious. Before you plant or do nursery in that area make sure you remove and burn the debris of the old one, else the disease will transfer to the new one.

good for cucumber but not advisable for tomato. I sold 10 and 9k today.

Did another nursery yesterday... first time I will be planting Cobra...let see if it Worth it .

tomato can only do well under some degree of temperature. When you plant open field and it doesn't rain for like a month or your plant is experiencing back to back rain, it will definitely stress the plant.

From what I've learnt from this thread,I can see greengo is the king here,but unfortunately it's dark green,pls I would like to know what other variety is a good as greengo but not dark green..

I start selling today officially , and I sold for those that want to resell at the same spot at 17k per crate. Normally it should be 18k...let me put it this way.. any farmer that transplant between (open field) feb-march, and you notice your tomato don't do well like previous years or perhaps you are newbie, it is general including myself, the weather cause it and there is nothing we can do about it. Farmers has being complaining to me, one even said" he suspect one woman behind the ordeal "

I noticed the leave of the cucumber turning yellow as it germinates, while some are wrinkled is there any reason for that ? I by the way I planted one semin. something variety. When spraying fungicide can I spray on the plant?

sure you can spray fungicide. You can as well attach picture for us to see maybe it Downy mildew or it has to do with water or nutrient.

This I did the nursery on the 28th of march...I have prune all the lower Branch and leaves.. flowering and fruit begins to set..

I start picking yesterday at 84 days old..it is not up to a crate.. weather dealt with the plant no be small, sorry for those that did rain fed then. Tomato price range between 18-11k at the moment depend on the quality.

I picked few from my new cukes Plus the old and I sold 10k flat this morning...

I think 40 bags should be average.. you can see less or above, depend on weather and skills.

it varies from State to State, we pay #500 here per one, I heard it is 1k In Lagos, between I sold 8k and remaining two 7.5k this morning.

Please is staking and trellis actually very necessary for open field determinate tomatoes farming? I noticed that no farmer in my locality bother to stake up their tomatoes. I'm really ready to be mocked for staking mine, thus I need to know what different things to expect in my farm because of my staking and trellis (Cobra F1 tomatoes)

not only necessary but compulsory, if you are planting local no problem because the Way the fruit will set most will survive, unlike hybrid most will rotten!
