@ Trac/Seina/Kuntash I currently drive a Camry 2001 xle which is about 2 years now. Outside of the fuel consumption urban (being V6) and perhaps a marked increased fuel consumption with the AC, it has been an excellent companion. Just for a change am considering buying a C class 1997-1999. My present Camry has a horse power of 194 and the C class(1997-1999)that come close to that are the 230 compressor and the C 280(V6). Trac had said one should avoid the turbocharged and the V6; thus my first concern. And again, a friend advised that I should avoid the ones that come without keys and have airflow (honestly I don't understand what he was saying)that they come with very serious electrical problem and more worrisome most of our mechanics don't understand their workings. He suggested I buy one with a normal engine. Please guys I need expert advice. Thank you and happy new year. Cheers!!! |

When we comment on issues we should endeavor to dwell on issues and facts rather than allowing personal sentiments and opinions becloud our sense of reasoning. The contentious issue here is the full implementation of CONMESS. Prior to CONMESS, doctors in State and Local Government employments were always looking for the slightest opportunity to switch service to Federal owing to the very large disparity in remuneration. Obviously, there is no way the health sector can develop under such circumstances. Therefore the Federal Government in its' wisdom decided to come up with a salary structure that would be uniform across board irrespective of where and who you work for. The Federal Government has since implemented this salary structures while a lot of other states have follow suite. The demand of Lagos doctors is for LASG to also implement same. Now the big question is can LASG pay CONMESS? "IN September 2009, following several years of negotiations between the Nigerian Medical Association and the Federal Government, the Consolidated Medical Salary Scale, CONMESS, circular SWC/S/04/S.410/220 was released by the National Salaries, Incomes and Wages Commission. CONMESS is a uniform salary structure initiated by the Federal Government for all doctors in the country. Medical Guild had been agitating for implementation of the CONMESS through several letters and representations to government. This culminated in the strike actions of August to November 2010, and February to March 2011. However, in 2010, the State Government agreed to adopt CONMESS and this followed with the signing of the first ever agreement to implement the salary structure in the state. The agreement, dated November 19, 2010 with number LGS/HOS/06/Vol.VI/30 was signed by the Head of Service, Mr Adesegun Ogunlewe. In 2011, the State government reneged on the agreement which led to a four months protracted strike in the state. With the intervention of well meaning Nigerians, the doctors went back to work after signing another agreement on the same issue with the State Government. The second agreement was dated March 24, 2011 was signed by Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, Henry Ajomale and Dr. Jide Idris."( from the Vangard) How long should it take for an agreement reached and dully signed by government to be fully implement? How dare LASG try to blackmail the doctors? Are they asking for more money than their counterparts in other states or is the cost of living lower in Lagos than in other States? The blood of the those who died as a result of these strikes is on Fashola. Governance is about the people and therefore government policies must be tailored in the betterment of the people. I had so much respect for Fashola but with this he has lost all of that. |
We should not over heat the polity and create unnecessary panic with this tuberculosis issue. Veterinarians at the ministry of Agriculture and Natural Resources owe it as a responsibility to enlighten the general public on public health matters. The said carcass was seen during normal routine meat inspection at the abattoir. The ministry decided to use the case to enlighten the public on tuberculosis and the need while people should buy meat from sources where meat inspection service are available. The Observer captured the story in its' front page. For other news agencies to change the story just in an attempt to get people to read with the caption "Tuberculosis Infested Beef in Circulation in the Edo State" is the height of journalistic irresponsibility and recklessness. NUJ should please caution its member on the need to be very professional in their news reportage. |
DISTORTED! DISTORTED!! DISTORTED!!! The true story is that the eagle eyes of the Veterinary Officials in the State detected the tuberculosis infected organs at post mortem inspection in one of the abattoir and had to condenm the entire carcass from entering circulation. The press was invited to view the lessions for publc enlightment purposes. |

That wld b great and thanks. |
@ B.O.O.S may God bless u. The success of a leader is in his successor. Bola Tinubu might not av achieved anythin but he gave Lagosians Fashola and we r all living testimonies to that. Obasanjo had every ample opportunity to sanitize our political system but what did he do? Rather he organised the worst election in d history of democracy same he did in 1979. Am not a Westerner but I have seen the legacies of Awolowo. This was a man who brought Television 2 Africa when countries like France, Ireland etc cant boast of 1. He denied one of the finest mind to av emanated from Africa opportunity to govern just b'cos of their personal differences @ d expense of Nigeria. Till date he is being referred 2 as d best president Nigeria never had. What did Nelson Mandela do in SA? He step aside and allow d people choose their president. So much 2 say, |
@ Tgirl4real ur write up is a little bit acrimonious and I feel obliged 2 respond. Our problem has to do with societal set values and believes. We have failed to harmonised the infiltration of conflicting western value system on our way of life. Like u rightly said ''must one marry?'' It is not everyone that is called out for d marriage thing. Ideal marriage goes beyond d fulfilment of an established instutition. It's more of a companionship thing. To be more specific to d issues u raised; girls are mostly responsible for their woes in relationship. From research conducted abt 90% of successful relatioships, d guy is d one in love. Women approach relationship from a psychological perspective and by nature are much more caring, accomodating than men. This is d sole reason why polygyny has succeeded and polyandry can never work in our culture. Suffice 2 say, a woman can ''supposedly'' live peacefully and happily with a man she doesn't av a thing 4. Date a guy who doesnt love. From d blast of d whistle u will know 'cos live will b hell 4 u. However, girls are so choosy. Oh! is he tall? Where is he from? What does he do? U want a guy u can show off it. Meanwhile, U have known Dejo all ur live and u r convinced he has ds thing 4 u but he doesnt measure up 2 ur set standards. I know a lot of girls wld say that guys can be highly deceptive and can go to any extent to achieve what they want b4 they blow up n show their true color. Take this rules: 1. Date only known friends ( U have shared n kept secrets). When the chips are down the friendship will sustain the relationship. 2. If a guy TRULY LOVES U he wld wait 4 u till your weddin night. Anything short of that is simply lust n destuctive infactuation. @ Gamine am waiting on u. I got some pressing issues I want u 2 handle 4 me. aicomiare@yahoo.com |
@ Gamine: I enjoy your style of writing. I need to reach u on some issues and are strictly private. Wish there was some other way I could reach u. aicomiare@yahoo.com |

In 1979 he brought Shagari who had no business being a Governor let a lone president. In 2007 he brought Yar a dua who should be in a convalescent home as president. |
It is really pathetic when our leaders dont know how to set their priorities right. Is this what Lagos need now? A city that has a bleeped up transport system! You spend several hours of your life in hold ups. Why cant he spend this fund to open up the water ways and provide the necessary facilities that would facilitate rapid development of that sector. You also have the rail system that is practically non existent. With the right political attitude, rail transportation can succeed in Lagos. Just the other day I wept profusely when Yar adua was talking about dredging d Niger n yet we dont have power, no rail system and roads are simply nightmares and death traps. Anyway, Fashola is really tryin n one can see that he has difinite vision, plans and agenda for a Lagos unlike our Mr. President who is just a bunch of purposeless and confused soul. May Almighty God forgive OBJ. Gamine where r thou? I need to reach u very urgently. |
