Imagine 3.5k and I am being told 8k here in Abuja and the 8k is because of the person that introduced me. Ordinarily it's 15k.

AMEN @ swiftly! He sure does make everything beautiful in HIS time. My moniker is "Favoured2505" because I was expecting ielts to favour me that day but it broke my heart in pieces. Eventually ielts favoured me in July and here I am with ITA on 25/07.

The 25/07/18 draw should clear all profiles on 441, and possibly include very few profiles on 440. In summary, today's draw could be 440 optimistically, or 441 conservatively.

I think the first link did the trick for me. The very first map that tried describing where the bank is gave me a good insight in understanding how these westerners give directions. Trust me, I am hopeless with giving directions. So what I did was let the tape play the first question, then I will pause it and look at the five pictures to locate the one that best describes the question.
For example: The tape goes:A. "Excuse me, please can you tell me where the bank is?" The man replies "it's opposite the supermarket at the other end of the street". I will pause the tape here and look at the pictures. That way I familiarised myself with phrases used in giving directions. It made it easier for me to practice other map questions and I did practice a whole lot. I hope this epistle helps.

It is well my dear. Just practice and practice again and again. If map is your issue try replaying the CD whenever you get to that part. Replay it until you get it and then continue. With practice you will see you will get better and won't need to replay again.

I saw a mail from you. I tried responding but it bounced back. Something about your address being incorrect.

As for the map, you need to practice and practice. My first ielts on May 12th, I didn't practice the Map and it was right there staring at me. As usual I became confused and missed the whole 5 questions pertaining to the map. I ended up with 7.5.

I came home and restrategised. I decided to conquer my fear and started practising it. I used Cambridge materials and also checked online for ielts map related questions (I'll check my browsing history for one or two). Long story short, ielts June 30, I saw the map and smiled. I went with the flow, no second guessing. I got 9 in listening.

My point is practice and practice it over and over and conquer the fear.

He said headsets were provided. I equally confirmed that they provided us with headsets when we wrote on 30th June 2018.

Not just "no issues". The question is was headsets provided? Na so person deceive me say "their speakers are crystal clear, no problem at all". Until exam day na so my 68k went down the drain.

I used ielts Liz website for writing and I read her sample essays. That's all. I equally tried to write an essay or two a day before the test.

Congratulations to all who aced their ielts. Finally I am free from the shackles of Ielts.
First attempt with BC: LRWS - 7.5, 7.5, 6.5, 8.5
Second attempt with MOD: LRWS- 9, 8.5, 7, 7.5
I am deeply grateful to God for seeing me through this.

Even though I am not happy with my speaking, I am not going to ask for a remark. I got the scores I needed. My spouse aced his too with LRWS- 8, 8.5, 8, 7.5, so we are good. Special thanks to @newmum and @Tojued whose words encouraged me when I was heartbroken with the first results.

I don't even understand being a good writer. I have always been a good writer. I know because my essays were always read in class and in the Uni too because I always got good grades for my reviews. I wrote IELTS way back in 2012 for something I was pursing. My writing score was 8.5. Today I got my IELTS result from BC and my writing score is 6.5. I am very sad and because I am sure , I am going to ask for an EOR. My result from IELTS today has discouraged me from the trust I had in this process .

I'm sure I wrote more than 500 words sha. I stopped counting when I got to 250. Cos during practice could write 250 on one sheet, but in exam day also filled front and back of extra sheet (Covers face shyly)

not recommended to write long and boring or long with errors. No need to make examiner angry lol. But if you're a good writer, I'd say go for it.

Wow! Beautiful results spoilt by 6.5. Very impressive for a first attempt. Shouldn't your CRS still be above 400 with these scores?
I am still waiting to see my results. I will just resign my fate to going to pick it up tomorrow morning. BC is messed up.
