sayoberry: When u get here u will want to slap some people. There is no question I've not answered from anybody. From waiters to bank manager, people in the park, over concerned Granny's, people in the mall, even passer bys.... One Granny even asked if I was sexually active? Imagine. Someone whom does not know u will just come over an be like "wow that's a huge belly. What re u having, wen re u due, u getting a c-section or normal, u wanted a boy or a girl, when did u find out" That's from someone uve never ever met Lol. A white guy met me on my way from the mall and was like " Woow!! What a big tommy u have there. I heard if it's narrow it's gonna be a girl and if it's round it's gonna be a boy...I guess you ve got a boy in there Ma'am. .what do have in there, a boy or girl" . Me just looked at him, smiled and replied " two boys and two gurls" . LoooL. .His eye balls almost popped out and I said " go figure it out" . Hahaha sometimes it's humorous jare |

Airpure: So I know this is not the tread for it but I need to vent. I totally hate it when people ask me intimate questions about my pregnancy n travel plans like when is my EDD, Sex of my baby in fact yesterday some asked me wen my traveling n I said d month n she asked 4 d date I had to tell her cos it's not in my nature to Lie. (Not that much a saint) I just think it's personal info n people should mind their business. Argggggggg. I feel you. It's so annoying. Personally I don't like asking such questions but I don't know why people bother to know. I usually don't give a straightforward answer but in my head I will be screaming "why don't you mind your damn business". Here in US too it's the same thing. I wouldn't even bother to reply. I would just smile and give them a cold stare....to mind their business |

ajobi21: @FavouredB, which of the doctors are you using in Hackensack plus can i have his email address. Thanks I am using Doctor Fares Diabakerli. Will send you his number via PM. I have been getting lots of PMS on total cost for Hackensack and I think I should mention it here again. Doctor's fee ....1,500 for vaginal delivery and 2000 for CS. Hospital fee...3,800 ( for 2 days normal delivery). So far for all the tests the bill came to about 620 or so but after discount I paid 220. Not sure yet about exact fees for Paed and others. |

rable: @ ajobi and lalavita Hackensack mountainside hospital nj normal delivery 6.5k c/s 8.5k. both hospital and doctor s fees. think that's d cheapest in NJ you can Google it. For Hackensack the quote I got from my doctor is 2k for normal delivery while hospital is 3,800k. Giving a total of 5,800k. This is exclusive of the fees from other professionals. I ran all their tests with a total bill of 650 but I paid 220, discounted bill. You are right. It's about the cheapest in NJ. |

Virtuousdiva: Expectant mamas and daddies to be in the house. We thank God for all the stories and experiences shared here. There are some things i will like to shed light on; 1) Please do not underestimate the power of compression socks ooo. It works big time. The last thing you want to experience when you travel is complications that will arise as a result of deep vein thrombosis caused by swollen feet as a result of immobility. I know someone who has experienced it while going to give birth and it ended up being so serious. Wear the compression socks on long flights and as much as you can, try and be move around on the plane.
2) For those just joining the thread, you have no idea how blessed you are to meet this page up to 300 and something fully packed with information. i have never seen such a generous bunch of info sharers like the people on nairaland and all i can say is please do not start from the last page, take time and read from the beginning. If reading is too much of an issue, start from page 100. You will not regret it.
3) Also one basic thing that continues to be a focal point here is truthfulness. if you are going for your visa and pregnant, prepare well(pack your BURDEN OF PROOF)tell them you are pregnant and God willing you will be given a visa. If you are pregnant after your visa or have gone on vacation before, send a letter and get the standard reply. Let us not complicate issues for ourselves and then begin to blame the people at POE when the gist given to us here is one sided. PEACE AND LOVE TO YOU ALL. Thanks @ Virtuousdiva. Nice points. However from all the response I have read concerning letter of change of intent, i don't think it's necessary to write it if you had used your visa for the purpose for which it was granted. B1/B2 visa includes medical assistance. If you got the visa for vacation and used it for vacation, you can also use it for birthing purposes later, without writing the embassy. Problem comes when you get the visa for vacation and don't use it at all for that purpose but instead turn around to use it for birthing. In that case it would appear you deceived the VO during your interview and so to clear that impression you need to write the letter of change of intent. |

GenoMI: Long and short of the story my son was born right here in Lagos, Nigeria LOL. I just thank God he didn't need to be put into an incubator as he did well on his own. After all the planning for obodo yankee o, I guess this is a good example of the saying 'Man proposes.....'.
Everyone asked me if I was stressed out etc (maybe that was why my waters broke soo early) but honestly nothing out of the ordinary, I was ok though I had driven earlier that day.
Anyway I just though to share my experience, even though I had thought my next post on this thread would be about my Atl POE experience. All in all I thank God for everything. Exactly as you said. Man proposes, God disposes. He has the best plan for us. Thank God it didn't happen when you were airborne. Thank God you and baby are bouncing....so many things to thank God for....For the unseen battles he fought. Who knows whether the devil planned it for death but God put him to shame....so many things could ve gone bad during your trip but God took control. Congratulations. You are more than a conqueror. Congratulations on the birth of your healthy BBB. May His name be glorified. |

Santa2: I did an extensive of search around the new York/new jersey area and Hackensack was about the cheapest I got. I would like to know if any other cheaper hospital comes up around this area.
I have been receiving a lot of PM with regards to my post on John Peter Smith hospital. I would appreciate if you could put these enquiries here just so that others to can benefit from these replies. I have learnt a lot from this forum and would like others to benefit several months down the line. Another reason is because I believe other people have used JPS too and might be able to profer answers to questions I might not be able to as I would be limited to only my personal experience. While I would continue to respond to PMs,I would appreciate it if you please put your enquires here.
@bj2012golf...how far? Was at the embassy on monday to notarize documents and saw a lot of people given visa, my mind immediately when to you. Pamperme: Am sure you are the lady in flowered dress, I almost asked you outside if you were on nairaland, lol. Heard the crew talking about you, they didn't buy your gestation age but had no choice, lol. The crew were nice to me sha, kept asking if I was okay, wanted anything, should call them immediately if I have any pain or cramps. That the head crew has experience in delivery babies etc. I just laughed and enjoyed the attention. I think they are just scared of carrying pregnant women after the experience they had and had to divert to Madrid. That lady you met at the counter is my friend and she explained everything to me that they will only accept fit to fly from Port Health. Flew Arik twice to London during this pregnancy and we got talking the second time and I think she's pregnant too, lol. Its me alright, on flowered dress. Yeah. She is preggie too. They are scared becos of that experience. They said they had to change their route to Spain so the woman could deliver her baby. I dint enjoy d flight at all. Won't do Arik next time. You dey try. |

IyawoToBe: Wow. Congrats o. How many weeks gone are you abeg? And what's the limit for pregger women to fly with Arik? And why did you cancel your el paso plan? Did you get a cheaper package in Newyork? My first scan said Feb 2 while my second scan said 14th January. So you can guess Lol.... I read from Arik ' s website that their max is 33 weeks but when I got there they told me their max is 30 wks. They accept 32 wks max if you are on a one way journey, that is, if you are returning to your home country or country of residence at that age. Hubby feels am too far gone to be travelling up and down. Besides I have friends here unlike elpaso. Cost of flight to and from elpaso and accommodation can be added to d hosp bill here |

Pamperme: I want to sincerely thank God for a successful POE experience...
I arrived JFK, New York aboard Arik (yeah yeah, i know the stories but i know a couple of people there so it wasnt a biggie) this morning. With all documentations, cash etc. The Officer asked me the following questions:
Officer: When last did you come to the US? Me: May last year Officer:For how long? Me: 2 weeks Officer: How long are you planning to spend this time? Me: Two months Officer: And what are you here for this time? Vacation? Me: Vacation and to have my baby. Officer: Oh Ok. All the best.
That was it. Picked my one piece luggage, gave the second batch of officers my landing card and left. There were two other pregnant women on the flight, i saw them outside so i guess they were successful as well.
Am still in New York, will be heading to El Paso tomorrow. @damsell, any hope for the utensils?
Thanks to everyone who has contributed to this forum and May Almighty God bless you abundantly, Amen. We flew the same flight. I think I saw you. I am the lady with the very big bump. No other preggie had a bump as big as mine ( am sure you would ve noticed) lol. In fact Arik rejected my Doctor's fit to fly, and referred me to Ports health and immediately they saw me they guessed my age, without even examining me. Of course I dint allow them write their own report cos it would ve worsened my case. I just went back to Arik and told them I couldn't locate the Ports Health office. Lol |

Hello All I really thank God for linking me to this forum. It got me prepared for POE experience, gave me confidence and made me to know that as long visa/birthing issues are concerned, honesty and prayers will surely get you what you want. I arrived JFK this morning and God showed me that He is a prayer answering God. The officer I met just asked me one question. "What are you here for" Me answered " for vacation and to have my baby" . That was it. He took my thumbprint and stamped me in. I looked at what he stamped. He just wrote B2 on it and there was no duration. I politely asked him about it and he explained it was for six months. Just like that!!! No further question. No document asked for. Didn't even ask how much I had on me...In my excitement I didn't even realise he stamped me in, on my old passport. My expired passport still has my valid UK visa and all my travel history. My US visa is in my new passport. I tied them together. Pls house, is anything wrong with where he stamped? I went on to clear my baggage and the officer asked me to clarify the exact foodstuff i had cos i declared it on the declaration form. He asked if i had vegetables, fruits, plants etc and I said no. Just local spices and food ingredients. He then asked me to pass my luggage through the scanner and j did. Picked my luggage and off I went. No searching et all. God is really wonderful. The only hitch i encountered was in Lag. I flew Arik and they refused to lift me. I knew I was far gone but I had asked God to grant me favour. It cost me some money though (trust Naija) but I knew it was God. I understand the lady I met was a more understanding person and the Arik staff were telling me I should thank God she was the one on duty. I really thank God and appreciate you guys for what you are doing here. Am in NJ now and has definitely cancelled all plans about El Passo. God bless you all. |

Must it be Del sol medical centre or doctoresparati letter? Even after they have told you that the embassy people MIGHT OR MIGHT NOT accept their letter. I had told you on an earlier post, and i will tell you again . Get in touch with another doctor e.g. Dr Fagbohun or some other doctor that accepts email appointment booking, send them an email that you want to come to the us to give birth, they will reply you with an email telling you that they are willing to accept you and they will also attach the breakdown of their bills on the email, all this is free o,you no go pay any kobo.,most doctors will not charge you for this. You can use this as burden of proof for your visa application and at POE. Once you enter America ,you can then go the El paso route or even decide to have your baby in Alaska,na u sabi,no body will stress you on that, the koko is to enter yakee 1st. I hope i have answered your question. I can give you like two doctors in Texas that would respond to your email , send me a pm if you need it or search this thread,i know ppl have had this same problem, even me too had the same issue, that is why i can advice you properlly. Babatwi please I need your help here. Doctors that can respond to my mail and give me the detailed required documents before Friday. Any other good samaritan can also PM me please. Thank you. |

Okaaaay! !! Finally got me to the last page. I asked some questions last week and was advised to read through the whole thread. Well, finally did. Very good advise though. Congratulations to all those that testified about successful visa interviews and successful POE exploits especially through the dreaded Houston POE. Congratulations to all the new mums and dads. For all the hopefuls, may God crown all our plans and efforts with success IJN. Well, I got my visa in July but it was issued late due to their own fault and I couldn't attend the convention I was going for. Though about a few months gone then, I didn't declare even though I had not conceived the idea to birth in the states. My intention then, was just to attend the convention and come back. I was also not asked if I was preggie. Now that I decided to birth in the states many friends have advised I camouflage the bump and never to declare my intentions or else j will be turned back. Thank God for this forum that preaches nothing but honesty. I got the NIV email address from here and I have written them of my change of intent explaining why I couldn't travel for the convention as planned. I got the generic reply yesterday and am happy. Am due to fly through NY over the weekend. My problem now is that i was in a hurry to make plans and had already concluded arrangements with Doctores parati before I got to the part on this thread where people started reporting of the problems encountered with their letter. Through the information I got here I made sure they included a doctor's name and also signed the letter of medical responsibility though it was signed by Rodolfo. Am still on them to get me another letter personally signed by the doctor Martell. They replied last Saturday and said I would get it before end of the week. I am due to travel by weekend as earlier said and I just feel like making other arrangements in case they don't deliver. A CBP officer may not have the patience to read the letter and may become hostile once they see the Doctores letter head. Please I need info on any doctor that can reply me urgently and get me the documents I need for POE before Friday. I contacted Doc Hugh but don't have time on my hands to submit all the reports and tests they are asking for. Also contacted dr. Rizk but he insists on 1k initial payment. Am sorry for the long post. Just needed to explain myself well so my intentions are not misunderstood. Ave been restricted from sending PMs probably becos am new and have not really contributed to the thread so it's easy to think I am here for something else. Pls anyone with required info can PM me. 1. Doctors that can respond to me before Friday without any requirements 2. Must I pay for accommodation or is booking enough to present at POE? Quick response will be highly appreciated. Thanks. |
