Millz404: Exactly. He is also using Ancient Egypt as an example of how great "Africa" was, forgetting that Ancient Egypt was a North African civilization that comprised of lots of different kinds of people from regions within Northern Africa and Arabia. Even if he'd argue that the earliest Egyptians were mainly blacks, still, they existed 4000-5000 years ago. That's a long period of time. What has Africa, especially south of Egypt where West Africa is located, achieved since then? I think one of the crucial problems plaguing Africa, and one I'd argue plays a role in our backwardness, is our tendency to blame external factors for our problems. We are never the cause. It's always someone or something external. How can we solve our problems when we can't identify the roots? Also, all these Afrocentrist ignoramuses fail to realize that the native Americans were also used as slaves and that they lost over 90% of their population when the Europeans marched into their lands. But you never see the latinos whining about it and blaming their problems on white people. |

DriveByKiller: The "white man" has also had his civilization in the past. The Greeks and the Romans were "white men" and at their peaks they were the dominant force, just as they currently are. Civilizations don't exist anymore. What we have are sovereign countries. There is currently no such thing as white man civilization, neither is there currently any such thing as black man civilization. Instead of making excuses let's find solutions to our current underdevelopment. And we won't find solutions if we aren't honest about the potential roots of our problems. I'm against sentimental history. Let's be dispassionate and honest when talking about history. 3 Likes |

Ayatullah: Let Africa develop at it's own pace? Africa was terribly underdeveloped, compared to the rest of the world, before the visitation of the Europeans in the 15 century. Western and Southern Africa especially. We were isolated from the strides that were being made in various domains of life all around the world. The arrival of the Europeans exposed us to a lot of knowledge that influenced our growth. I'm not saying some of the things they did, notably slavery wasn't wrong, but you can't just dismiss the impact their arrival on this continent has had on the growth of Africa. Literacy stands most prominent. Lol. Do you really think the Pyramids were built by the ancient Egyptians? Really? I think that there is enough evidence that the pyramids weren't built by any ancient human civilization as far as our current concept of history is concerned. I mean come on, the pyramids were obviously built by people with advanced knowledge in astronomy, architecture and mathematics. Humans didn't have that knowledge back then, regardless of how developed they were, and they weren't even that developed. I'm not saying the Ancient Egyptians weren't a great civilization, they were, but they didn't build the pyramids. 2 Likes |

Well it depends on what your standards are and how you evaluate men who approach you based on those standards. If your standards are unrealistic then be prepared to be single till you hit the wall. And when you hit the wall, standards won't matter to you anymore. 4 Likes |

Safiaa: If you read my comment carefully, you would have realized that I said "some men." And I used some men because it's an accurate phrase, since there is evidently a fraction of the male population that fit that description. But you on the other hand don't give a damn about accuracy of speech. You just feel you can quote me and yap censoriously because you have a phone and internet access. What statistical procedure did you use in determining that 1% of my gender fit the description I presented? How do you know it's one percent? Have you tried offering your body to all the men in the world? Have you examined the minds and sexual behavior of all the men in the world? 1 Like 1 Share |

Oshodi, Under bridge. It's spacious, well ventilated, intricately decorated and with a great view of the Lagos mainland. And the price of food is very cheap. You could buy snacks, drinks and other confections, all under 1000 naira. Plus you'd have the opportunity to meet all kinds of interesting people. 1 Like |

What if she's a psychopath who's just pretending that she loves you so she can exploit you for some selfish purpose? Rather than penning your list of 14 ways to be fooled into believing someone loves you, why not advice people on how to tread cautiously when in a relationship and how to fortify themselves emotionally so they can deal with whatever negative eventuality that occurs? 5 Likes 1 Share |

GodSon34: I have met Africans who have been brainwashed to reject their roots and cling to that of some foreign group of people, like some sects of Igbos who believe that they are Jews. But I've never met anyone at your level of brainwash. You are plain delusional. And your adopted delusion is making you rewrite history in favor of your delusional belief. I can't even debate you on this since you'll claim that any evidence I bring up is just fabricated history created by a counterfeit people aka your so-called synagogue of Satan. It's sad that you are rejecting your Yoruba roots and claiming to be an Israelite. I wonder why its only Africans that make this sort of ridiculous claims about their roots. I don't know if it's inferiority complex or just ignorance. Why do you have to deny what you are and adopt the nature of something else? Do you think what you are is inferior to that which you choose to adopt? Your case is beyond pathetic. 1 Like |

GodSon34: What are you even saying? What's the difference between Jewish history and Hebrew history? Aren't they essentially the same thing? Isn't Jewish mythology a set of stories that explain the history of the world from a Jewish/Hebrew perspective, and the history of Jews/Hebrews as well? I could just substitute Jewish with Hebrew and I'd be saying essentially the same thing. The words Jewish and Hebrew refer to the same group of people. I know a lot about ancient Hebrews and they never claimed humans to have originated from west Africa. Hebrews trace the origin of humans to the garden of eden, which according to scholarly consensus is located somewhere in Iraq, near the Tigris and Euphrates river. My frustration with you is that your claim is fundamentally Darwinian. The claim that humanity originated in Africa isn't a religious claim and it's definitely not a Hebrew/Jewish claim, rather, it's a scientific claim that's predicated on the theory of evolution. And you are using religious myths which predate and run contrary to the claim to justify it, which makes no sense. |
Romance / Re: It's So Useless To Be Born! by Faxole: 1:44pm On Jan 29, 2018 |
Highex: Really? You don't think there is a particular way we must act that guarantees the continuous existence of humanity? So what do you say about my proposition that everyone acquire weapons and then march into the home of their next door neighbour, plundering their material resources and money and then killing anyone who dares stop them and every member of the family so they don't become vindictive and avenge what's been done to them. And when they are done exhausting their pillaged supply, they should march into another home and repeat the process. And it's not just plundering. Even desires like sex also need to be satisfied in this way. So if anyone wants to fuçk someone all he needs to do is find an attractive woman, force her at gun point to do what he wants and then shoot her after he's done so she doesn't avenge what's been done to her. And bear in mind that there would be no need to work under this "free system" because why does anyone need to work when they could just steal from any person they meet and then kill them after. So no need for farmers to continue their occupation, no need for doctors to function in hospitals, no need for pharmacists to produce drugs, no need for those working in power plants to supervise the production and distribution of electrical power, no need for anything. There would also be no need for laws and rules and enforcement of these laws because everyone should be free to live as they like. What do you say about my idea? I'm sure you would be on board with the idea since you believe there isn't anyway that we should act that would guarantee the continuous existence of humanity. Do you think humanity would survive past a decade if everyone acted this way, especially giving the kind of weaponry we possess? 1 Like 1 Share |

GodSon34: You are using Jewish mythology, to present a claim that aims at modifying Jewish mythological history to fit your erroneous racially/ethnically biased presuppositions. This is intellectual dishonesty and it's shameful. Jewish mythology doesn't claim that humans originated from Africa. This is an anthropological claim steeped in Darwinian evolution. But you are predicating your claim on it, and then using Jewish literature about the origin of creation, which Darwinism refutes, to justify it. Wow. You deserve an applause. If we are to go by what was stated in the Jewish scriptures, and by scholarly consensus, then the garden of Eden, which I don't believe exists in any concrete sense, would be located somewhere in Southern Mesopotamia, where the Tigris and Euphrates river run into the sea. How you managed to leap from the western asia to west Africa, and not just west Africa, Nigeria for that matter, is just astounding. Your desperation and ignorance baffles me. 1 Like 1 Share |

I understand that lots of you Nigerians love entertainment and other stuff that gratifies your senses, even to the detriment of your intellectual development. And I'm not against watching BBN. I believe everyone should have the freedom to watch what they want on TV. But I hope you guys are squandering your time and voting airtime on this show with the knowledge that the primary essence of this show isn't to entertain you or to help Nigerian youths archive stardom, but to exploit your desire for constant sensual stimulation and entertainment in order to generate money for the big companies sponsoring the show. So, keep making money for Multichoice(a South African company by the way), telecom giants and other BBN sponsors while you derive zero to no value for your time and money. 2 Likes 2 Shares |

Tohzara: I usually tend to stay away from subjects like this because to pontificate accurately on them, one needs to have a strong grounding in medicine or human biology, a grounding which unfortunately I don't have. But from the little I have read, I think male circumcision is allowed in most cultures because in men, cutting off the foreskin tends to accrue certain health and hygienic benefits. The reason female circumcision is perceived as objectionable in most parts of the world, from the little I have read, is due to the fact that it kills the sensitivity of various parts of a woman's genitalià, hence making sex painful rather than pleasurable. I have also read that it makes them more susceptible to various kinds of vaginal infections. |

Family / Re: Why Are There More Widows Than Widowers In Our Society by Faxole: 9:37am On Jan 29, 2018 |
Men do the dangerous jobs - There are more men in hazardous occupations that potentiate death, than there are women. Jobs like working in underground mining tunnels, working in oil rigs, constructing and positioning masts and other tall buildings, working in the military, and other dangerous occupations are disproportionately dominated by men. Men are also more likely to die from stress related diseases due to the enormous burden that they shoulder as bread winners of their families, especially in an African context. Men have to strive to attain financial status in their careers and provide for their families simultaneously. This isn't an easy task. And this point is also tied to the disproportionally high level of suicide rates in men around the world, which is another answer to your question. Women also tend to live 8 years longer than men on average because testosterone, the male hormone, decreases the life span of men. I hope the ignorant, rabid Nairaland feminists are reading this. 1 Like 1 Share |

Amarabae: What if she isn't pulling his legs and she's actually serious about everything she wrote? Look I'm not saying the screenshots are genuine. It could be that they were fabricated. But let's pretend that they are genuine, given that it's a valid probability. Are you saying a girl can't send such kind of messages to a guy? To be honest I'm really baffled by comments like yours. It's like society has so conditioned everyone to think that women don't like sex and men are the only ones that like sex, and the only reason why a girl would have sex with a guy is if she received something material or monetary in return. This is certainly not true. First, women really like sex, and not only do they like sex, they enjoy it better than men. Secondly, women tend to be more interested in having sex with attractive men who seem to not be interested in them because it makes them question their femininity and triggers lots of insecurities that they try to quell. It also makes them believe these men to be of high value, especially in the sexual market, since if he showed a lack of interest in her, he most certainly must have met better women. Women tend to have a magnified sexual attraction towards men they perceive as high value. 97 Likes 10 Shares |

EweduAfonja: What if it isn't? So you think because a chat was released where a guy refused to have sex with a lady that was willing to have sex with him, that it's so unrealistic and uncharacteristic of men that it had to be a publicity stunt? I think you women really overestimate yourselves. You think all men just want to have sex with you because you have breasts and a vagina. I hate to inform you that this is not always the case. Some men have standards. Some have principles. Some just don't like sex that much. Men aren't just animals that go around looking for some pusssy to stick their dick into. 310 Likes 28 Shares |

Religion / Re: What Is Your Perspective Of God? by Faxole: 6:37pm On Jan 28, 2018 |
Tohzara: Yeah my religious view is sort of Pantheistic, but with some modifications. I can't say for sure what the objective of God is. I don't even think I possess the cognitive capacity to comprehend the workings of the mind of God, let alone its intentions. But from contemplation, I would conjecture that God's motive for creation is the experiencing of various possible forms of existence. I don't think I am enlightened enough on cosmology to answer this question. But I'd say that the accurate answers to your questions would seem both perplexing, counterintuitive and contrary to orthodox views of science. |
Religion / Re: What Is Your Perspective Of God? by Faxole: 5:34pm On Jan 28, 2018 |
Tohzara: I believe God to be the creative consciousness that existed before time, before the big bang and before the creation of the universe, and that consciousness decided to explore its own being by differentiating into different forms of being and different levels of consciousness. So in essence, we humans are God expressed in a unique form and with a unique kind of consciousness, and within us is the spark of the divine, creative consciousness of God, as is within every other expression of God. |

fascia: If I understand you correctly, what you are saying is that no matter how one chooses to live his life, no matter the improvements one makes in his character and his sense of responsibility towards himself, other humans, and his environment, that what will be will always be - that the tragedies of life will always exist and that his efforts would be futile in as much as it's intended to make the world better? If this is what you are saying, then I don't agree with you. Despite the continuous presence of tragedies of being and the vicissitudes associated with living in this world, I'll make the argument that the state of the world today is better than it was 200 years ago, and this massive disparity, especially as it affects well being and human flourishing, is due to collective human effort aimed at bettering the state of the world. I honestly don't see how making statements like "life is meaningless" adds anything of value to human experience. I mean, since life is meaningless to you guys, why not just go around killing everyone? Why are you still alive? Why haven't you killed yourself? Why do you still participate in this grim, futile, meaningless existence? 1 Like 1 Share |

Estharfabian: You edited your comment by appending this statement to it: "So long as you hurt no one in the process" So according to you, people should just do whatever they want - what ever makes them happy - whatever makes them tick - as long as they don't hurt anyone in the process. Your reasoning seems to stem from a poor understanding of personal responsibility, accountability and other virtues like hard work and dedication that actually helps maintain and improve the state of a person's life and society in general, especially given that these qualities aren't actually qualities that would likely be exhibited by someone who just wants to "do whatever he wants". People who just do whatever they want don't care about personal responsibility, they don't care about rules, they don't care about hard work and commitment to a cause as long as it undermines their pursuit of short-term pleasure and self gratification. People like this are in every sense hedonistic, and pleasure seeking and comfort is all that matters to them. If every person in the world took your advice, given that no one directly harms anyone by choosing not to work hard at a task or do anything that indicates personal responsibility to his society, do you think the world would be a better place than it is? How about a commitment to always stand for the truth, even if it accrues you negative consequences? I mean there have been people throughout history who stood for the truth, to the point of even giving their lives for it. They weren't doing what made them happy, in fact they were doing the opposite, but they understood that they had a responsibility to their fellow humans, and this responsibility superseded their craving for pleasure and comfort, and they pursued this responsibility with integrity. And it's because of people like this that you are able to sit at the comfort of your home, with a mini computer in your hands and type this ignorance-ridden, morally malnourished post. 4 Likes 3 Shares |
