Amodu fails to show up for work Shuaibu Amodu failed to report for duty at the NFF, despite being scheduled to resume work last Monday. Amodu was last week demoted from his position as coach of the Super Eagles and assigned to train the CHAN team comprising exclusively of domestic league players. The team were directed to move into camp immediately under the direction of Amodu and his assistants. But the coach failed to report to the Glass House all of last week, and the NFF were forced to release a list of 34 players without the coach. NFF spokesman Ademola Olajire told KickOffNigeria.com that the action was taken because the NFF were unsure whether or not Amodu would take up his new assignment. “We don’t know if he will take the job or not, and we cannot hold up our preparations while we wait for him,” Olajire said. “The interim coaches, led by Erasmus Onuh, will train the team for now.” Sources close to the coach, however, told KickOffNigeria.com that he is yet to receive a formal letter from the NFF notifying him of his redeployment. http://www.kickoff.com/static/news/article.php?id=13878 ---- NFF = Total Disgrace!!! |
Well, like someone rightly said, only a jobless coach will take the SE job. |
Ngozi brace routs Basetsana Ebere Ngozi scored twice for Nigeria's Falconets in their 5-3 rout of South Africa's Basetsana in the first leg of their Fifa Under-20 Women's World Cup qualifier, but it was Uchechi Sunday's goal that stood out as the highlight of the encounter. The substitute dribbled her way past the entire Basetsana defence to score her first, and Nigeria's fifth of the thumping. But it was the hosts who stared the brighter, taking the lead just seven minutes in through Chantelle Esau's well taken freekick. Nigeria wasted little time in carving out a response. Ebere Ngozi pulling them level seven minutes later, with South Africa down to 10 players while Amanda Sister was getting medical attention on the sidelines. Three minutes later, the visitors were in front. Onyinyechi Ohadugba cracking in a long range effort that Basetsana goalkeeper Ntshetsana Mputle only saw on its way back from the net. It was the hosts turn to find parity in a see-saw first half, as Esau claimed her second of the day four minutes before the hour. Just as they did in the first half, it was the hosts who went in front soon after the restart when substitute Bontle Mashilo came off the bench to find the back of the net. Again Nigeria responded. And like the South Africans, it was a substitute who answered for the Nigerians. Amarachi Okoronkwo came on and instantly tied up the score. From then on, it was all Nigeria, as their superior physique and stamina began to tell. Ngozi added her second of the night, and then it was time for Uchechi to stun the entire park with a goal of breathtaking class. She picked up the ball, then proceeded to weave a skein through the entire Basetsana defence, who could do little but watch in awed admiration as she went on to score one of the best goals that the Caledonian Stadium in Pretoria will ever see. The second leg will hold in Abuja in a fortnight, with the winner progressing to the Finals of the 2010 Fifa Under-20 Women’s World Cup scheduled for Germany in July this year. http://www.kickoff.com/static/news/article.php?id=13884 |
New coach to 'observe' friendly Nigeria expect to name their newly-hired coach by February 28, but the new man will only watch from the stands when the Super Eagles play their friendly match on March 3. Nigeria demoted former coach Shuaibu Amodu to their B team, comprising exclusively of local players, and have drawn up a shortlist that included the likes of Guus Hiddink, Louis van Gaal, Giovanni Trapatoni, Bruno Metsu, Ratomir Djukovic and Peter Taylor. The new coach is not expected to be named until February 28, just three days before the March 3 window for international friendlies. NFF Secretary General Bolaji Ojo-Oba, who insists that the Super Eagles will play Paraguay in London, suggested that the new 'Technical Adviser' may not be in charge for the only game before the team moves into a 21-day pre-World Cup camp in May. "We will make an announcement by February 28 latest," Ojo-Oba told KickOffNigeria.com. "The new coach may just observe the match from the stands." With no coach in place, Ojo-Oba said the NFF would pick the players for the game. "We cannot wait for the new coach because there is no time, so we will call up the players, and the team will resume camp for the game." He refused to say categorically however, that reassigned coach Shuaibu Amodu would not be in charge for the game. "There will definitely be somebody in charge for the game. But I cannot say for now whether that person will be Amodu or not. "We will make a pronouncement on that before the match." http://www.kickoff.com/static/news/article.php?id=13888 ---- You want to know the problem of Nigerian football? They're off again at the Bridge, where Florent Malouda replaces Joe Cole. Saw it too. I hope the lad makes it to the WC. YZ does not make silly mistakes (defending) at LB but me thinks he has improved lately. At least the few times he deputised for AC. What is the name of that Ashley look and play alike young boy? Is that Ryan B? He impressed me wella. But knowing Uncle Carlo, defo it will be YZ's spot and he better come good. |
Good job. |
