Also speaking on the incident, the Governor of the State, Simon Lalong, said government would sanction any traditional ruler found to have connived with the miners to exploit the community. Lalong also threatened to transfer the divisional police officer in charge of Wase LGA for allowing the illegal miners excavate the land.

Lalong, who was visibly furious over the activities of the miners, alleged that the miners excavate minerals from the site worth N5 billion monthly. In 2014, this community lost over 10 people due to contaminated water following activities of the illegal miners.

A friend of mine recently lamented badly how he has been subjected to a mere source of income for his wife's family. Apart from buying things for them during festive periods, he is still been called on every now and then to take care of minor issues that should ordinarily be taken care of the family. There are grown up men in his wife's family but this young man will still be called on to foot medical bills of his father-in-law, support house rent and other funny things such as paying for DSTV subscription. Whenever he complained to the wife about these, she would tell him if members of her family could help, they would have done that. The eldest male in the family who is almost 42 still calls my friend for financial assistance!

Now, my question is: Does it mean if my pal's wife didn't marry him, the entire family would have been wiped out by financial problems? I personally feel his unnecessary kindness towards the family is becoming a huge burden in life. I believe he is been used.

The issue of Electricity in this blessed country has been my great concerns especially in the area I found myself. Even, they hardly give 30 minutes power in some places and it is not an overstatement that many places have Electricity only when they (NEPA or PHCN or Distribution Companies or what is their name called) want to distribute Electricity bills. I called a Master in China who said he has experienced uninterrupted power supply since he got there since 3 months ago.

The NYSC program should be scrapped and discarded completely. It has overrun its purpose without achieving anything worth archiving.

A program established for the unity of this country after the civil war has failed in its primary objective. Corpers die every year from our poor road while traveling great distances from one region to another.

Poor security of the country has been exploited by criminals to rob and rape our corpers in their lodges in remote areas.

Our poor health facilities have led to corpers dying in their PPAs and corruption has not enabled them claim thier legal medical expenses.

Tribal restiveness and distrust are still alive as they were before independence.

Who is fooling who? The only people benefitting from NYSC are the staff who grow fat from awarding bogus contracts and buying food stuffs for these unfortunate youths.
