And your problem with that is ? |
In no particular order: 1. Tanimu Yakubu Kurfi 2. Siyyad Abba Ruma 3. Abba Aji 4. Mansur Mukhtar 5. Michael Aondoakaa 6. James Ibori 7. Bukola Saraki If you dig deep enough, and look beyond the headlines, back from 8 years ago till date, you might understand why. |
Considering that Obj managed almost single-handedly to battle the forces of retrogression in the corridors of power to a standstill, and bearing in mind the non-performance of his much-vaunted successor, plus Obasanjo's legendary stubborness, wilyness, cunning and native intelligence, the likes of Duke would not have lasted up to a year. From what we're seeing now, Obasanjo went in on a war-footing. Literally speaking, I can see, even from a distance, how virtually every decision is a battle, at that level!! They can't sort out power, roads, rail, oil lifting contracts, farmers' loans, education. Ministers are working at cross purposes to each other, and the civil servants are just feeding fat on the confusion. You need a seriously bloody-minded and honest individual to make Nigeria work, and Obasanjo was it. Yar'Adua clearly is not. All the Dukes and so on will actually now confess to you that the problems of Nigeria are almost intractable and need an unbending, strong (mentally and, obviously, physically), focused, dogged, wily, crafty and honest President to solve. The person concerned MUST also command the loyalty of the military NATURALLY and understand the way the military works. IBB was right to choose Obasanjo, based on his own previous experience of Aso Rock. On 3rd term I stand. |
Even though I was aware that Obj did not really want a third term, and only allowed that kite to fly in order to stop Atiefku from winning the PDP Presidential nomination, I secretly hoped it would become a reality, because the northerners could not hide their eagerness to get their noses in the $54 billion trough that Obj had salted away for Nigeria, You could actually see them salivating hungrily, like wolves after a helpless sheep. Well, we've now had 3 years of regression under them, plus the dubious honour of having been the first country in the world to have a comatose president in charge for over 70 days, $54 billion is now down to $12 billion - in 3 years!!!! For me o, no doubt in my mind AT ALL, 3rd term for Obj, all day!! |
The people making these accusations should please revert to their real name: The True Face of Tinubu and his Boys. The accusations are all baseless. The most risible is the one about N290m/month on text messages, How desperate can they get in their attempt to nail Fashola, just cause he continues to patronize a contractor who continues to deliver on time, and on budget, unlike Hi-Tech, owned by Tinubu, who have failed so far in their efforts to widen Lekki-Epe expressway, a road in which they are a part owner (another issue Tinubu needs to be pulled up for - he sold a major road to himself!). Tinubu should just quietly crawl back under the rock he came out of. Some of us have not forgotten his betrayal of NADECO Forum UK to Abacha and his goons. WE WILL SPEAK AT THE RIGHT TIME. Afikuyomi should also be careful. His antecedents as an "immigration consultant" in London are not forgotten, and the prosecution of his malfeasances while acting in that capacity are not timebound. |
babapupa:Babapupa, did I not warn you on the previous thread referred to by the other poster? Do you believe me now? As to what Fashola keeps repeating, that is the Omoluabi factor in him at work. Even though he wants to stop Tinubu from milking the state dry, he cannot be rude to him. That is a clear indication that he was VERY well brought up. |
This is interesting. They should extend the probe to the Lekki-Epe Expressway concession, and the way it was granted. They should focus their attention on the companies operating the concession, especially Hi-Tech Sand-sand company, as well as the land holdings granted to companies and individuals connected directly or remotely to the LCC in the Lekki Corridor. Special attention should be paid to Royal Garden Estate, Beechwood Estate and the 1500 hectare New Lagoon City project. If their investigation does not cover these pieces of choice real estate, all true sons and daughters of Lagos State should know then that the real face of the so called "true face of Lagos" is none other than the so-called toothless god-father of Lagos politics himself. They must tell us also, how Alpha Beta Consulting came to be appointed a revenue consultant for Lagos State, and how come they are earning the stupendous amounts we are hearing of (last figure I heard was N1.7bn/month!!). They should also tell us who the individuals behind Alpha Beta are, and what they did before forming Alpha Beta, which apparently came to life at the advent of the first term of Bola Ahmed Tinubu as Governor of Lagos State. Thanks all. Finally, residents of Lagos must regard this as a clarion call to arms, for this presents us with an opportunity to finally confront the Evil Dragon of Bourdillon and his legions of demons in human skin, both in the civil service and politics, and hand them a final and comprehensive defeat. |

There are several things that I can accuse Obasanjo of, justifiably, but being a paper weight is definitely not one of them. Heck, the whole of the reactionary wing of the Northern political establishment, such as there might be, are hinging their opposition to Jonathan on his being an Obasanjo loyalist!!! The amount of noise they are making over Obasanjo's advice to Yar'Adua suggests that they know more about the man than Southerners do. I for one believe Obasanjo to be a man of few words and PLENTY of action. The man is no paper weight o! Babangida was sent to Sudan to negotiate peace, and he failed. Obasanjo was sent to Congo, and within a matter of months, the war was over, with pictures of Obasanjo dancing with the rebel leader flooding the media throughout the negotiation period. Paper weight ke More like Super Heavy Weight. Just check the effect of his few words on the whole of Nigeria!! |
siena, are you in town (Naija), or still in Blighty? I've got a car I need converting properly to LHD, after a botched attempt by a Nigerian conversion "expert". |
adekampe:Thankfully, EVERYONE on the board does not reason the way you do, and do not go about insulting people or being obnoxious the way you've been up there. You said the "likes" of me "were screaming Jimi Agbaje in 2007", whoa, stop there!! That statement encapsulates all your ignorance in just a few of your own words. How can you, from behind the safety of your monitor, propose to assume that you know my political inclination, just because I am against the former governor, who is as we speak, bleeding the state dry, and for the incumbent, who has proved since his coronation, that he has the best intentions, and is ready to follow them through ![]() For the love of mike, do stop referring to grown men like Fashola as 'boys', will you? There is something mafioso about that usage, that suggests that the person being referred thus to is a member of a criminal organisation or enterprise. Not surprising though, because some of the things that Tinubu has done and continues to do are pure and simple, criminal. I imagine, from your robust support of him, that you are a member of that criminal organisation. Don't worry, the bell is tolling, and the day of reckoning will come for you, your boss and your confederates. As to me not being progressive, you cannot even begin to comprehend what level of progress I'm facilitating, nor can your mind begin to fathom some of the ideas that we have brought to the table, some of which have been implemented, even if wrong-headedly in some cases. I will refrain from joining issues with you on this board, but since you know where my "mansion in Lekki" is, why don't you do me the courtesy of paying me a visit and telling me your opinion of me face to face, just so I can see the force of your conviction. Me, I refuse to be led by the nose and insist on thinking for myself, and not just be another blinded Asiwaju-worshipper who takes everything that proceeds out of Tinubu's backside as gospel. Use your brains, my young friend. |
MOWE-OFADA my FOOT!!! Have people not heard that the Ogun State government at the tail end of last year, "acquired" a substantial amount of land in that axis, thereby rendering some of these "estates" non-existent or seriously decapitated?? I know some "developers" in that axis, and the general strategy around there is just target the poor, or the poor in spirit, and you will go "smiling to the bank". make una no vex, I learnt that one from City People You might worry about the cost, but the estates in the Lekki FTZ axis are actually the best bet right now, I think the main one around there is Amen Estate. You buy now, you live large very shortly, when the Free Trade Zone projects go into overdrive. Some have already started production. I believe Foton trucks are assembled there by Asian Motors right now. Feel free to visit us (I work there!), and you'll realise that you've got to buy there to really live! |
Questions: 1. What is the footprint of each unit (in sq.m. please) 2. How many units do you propose in all? 3. How much land (in hectares please) do you reckon you'll need to make this a viable project? Thanks. |
babapupa:I'm glad you agree that there are two distinct camps with apparently differing agendas. Make no mistake however, Tinubu has bitten more than he can chew this time, and if he persists, he may LOSE EVERYTHING. Lagosians of all hue and colour are solidly behind Fashola, and the main unifying factor is the prospect that Tinubu could "overthrow" him and replace him with one of his thugs. |
We're not in a criminal court yet, where the burden of proof lies on the prosecution to prove guilt. This is the court of public opinion. You go ahead and disgrace me by publishing hereon the CAC details of Hi-Tech Construction, to prove that Bola Tinubu has no connection whatsoever with the company. You could start with the names of the directors and the shareholding structure. Thank you. |
babapupa:Babapupa, thanks for this. One tiny detail, however: The governor in his address does not mention the issue of ownership of the facility. I guess he forgot to add the words "own and operate" after "design and build". I still see Deux staff all around the complex doing this and that. In what capacity are they working in that complex. They are there cleaning, pushing patient wheelchairs, dollies and such like around. To drive the point further home, a close friend recently took his father there after a mild heart attack. He was originally in the emergency ward, where he spent about N100,000 on sundry blood tests at the BT Diagnostic centre. Thereafter, he was recommended to go into the Critical Care Unit, but was asked to pay a deposit of N300,000 for his care. At the end of one week in CCU, he was asked for an additional N70,000. He was then moved into the male ward in a 3 storey building nearby, where he spent an additional week and paid another N70,000. These charges did not include the costs of drugs and other tests conducted after the initial blood tests. MRI scan cost N68,000 at BT Diagnostic centre. BT Diagnostic Centre is owned and operated by Bola Tinubu. The CCU is owned and operated by him - even the doctor in charge is a Tinubu! There are other units within the complex that are privately owned/managed, like the morgue, for instance. I have no arguments with private ownership. There's just this nagging ethical issue that refuses to go away, which makes it one kind for a Governor to be the one owning these facilities. Na only hin get money for Lagos? The bidding process was clearly not an open one. If it was, kindly refer us to the the newspaper advertisements calling for expressions of interest and or bids. Like I said, there's not a problem with PPP. It's just that the private part of that PPP MUST NOT be connected to the operators of Government Apparatus in any way, else there is a SERIOUS conflict of interest which means WE the people will not get the best bang for our buck. |
You might want to explain to us what Tinubu's interest is in Hi-Tech construction, a major partner in LCC, or if not, a cursory glance at CAC's records will explain it to you. ![]() |
babapupa:It's precisely because of the type of comment in bold that Fashola needs to distance himself from Tinubu and really quickly. The man will poison his reputation just by association. I have used that facility before as it happens, and the staff were kind enough to explain to me that it was owned by Tinubu, after I saw his FULL NAME on the receipt and asked!!! And it was not some kwue kwue staff either, it was the top dogs there. I must be honest with you, I could never have imagined that he would go that far (in terms of squeezing the state dry), with silly me thinking he was only interested in land and creaming off the state revenue. If you think he's irrelevant, why are you defending him so stoutly? Or are you him sef? |
My brother, you don't know the half of it. The LCC concession alone cannot stand up to scrutiny in a FAIR court of law! |
babapupa:Your constant request for evidence just may hasten the process up. Look a little closer at the BT Diagnostic Centre in the LASUTH compound in Ikeja, and ask for more evidence. As I said, Fashola is just trying to behave like a well brought up Lagos boy, by trying to be grateful to Tinubu. Were it not for that good breeding, there would have been blood on the streets by now. You had better advise Tinubu to let go of Lagos State, or he will start a fight he simply cannot win, no matter how many times the sycophants that surround him hail him and tell him that he is a god. You will be surprised to know that a lot of the "important personalities" in Lagos who publicly hobnob with him will support Fashola in a fight against Tinubu. Let it not shock you. Lagosians know how to protect their own if it comes down to that. |
And if Lagosboy is who I think he is, No worries bros. ![]() |
Paroh_frey:Compared to Yar'a sick note and his band of thieves? Absolutely. What makes it even worse is that known thieves have been handed the keys to the vaults. Turai, Aondoakaa (defender of EFCC suspects) and co now call the shots, while Yar'a sick note is off sick in that haven of modern meresin called Saudi Arabia. |
enitan2002:No mind dem. They think they can fool all the people all the time. Even as Fashola is denying, as he should, since Tinubu is is "benefactor", like you, I'm behind him 100%. I don't think he deserves to go to jail for Tinubu's misdeeds. Alpha Beta creaming off N2 b per month from Lagos State IGR is a jailable offence that Fashola needs to repudiate really quickly. So is the sale of Lekki-Epe expressway to a company in which Tinubu has a substantial interest, by Tinubu himself. By condoning these "deals", Fashola is actually leaving himself open to prosecution and eventual jail as an accomplice in the looting of Lagos State by Tinubu. If they think it can't happen, they need look no further than Bode George. |
babapupa:Worry not your pretty head, my dear friend, for in the fullness of time, Tinubu's day in court will come. Maybe even sooner than you think. Let him just carry on in his path to perdition. His train is gathering steam. |
Just give me a purposeful, strong, decisive, rumbustious, feared and respected Obasanjo-type leader ANYDAY!! For crying out loud, ALL of Africa used to come to Abuja to report themselves to Baba, so he could settle their differences. I mean, they used him to threaten each other "I'm going to Abuja to tell Baba". Now, even Gaddafi dey rake, begin deport Nigerians in their hundreds, something he was afraid to try in Obj's time. Let this Yar'asicknote man just retire to Katsina, to enjoy all the loot that Turai has collected on his behalf. I think even the effette looking Jonathan will do better than this obviously unwell person. |
babapupa:I refer you to my answer in the other thread, oh heck, here it is anyways: What you must understand is that Fashola is the quintessential Lagos "Omoluwabi". For those that do not understand Yoruba, Omoluwabi means a child that is born well, literally. Of course it is used to define people of honour and grace. Fashola is being gracious to Tinubu, almost to a fault. The truth is that Tinubu is actually an albatross on Fashola' and Lagosians' necks, what with the way he has sold all the land in Lekki Peninsula, from Lekki Phase I to Lekki Town in Ibeju Lekki Local Government Area, to himself and his cohorts. Alpha Beta and its N2 billion per month direct from Lagos State coffers nko? On top of all this, he is making money from Lagosians misery. Literally. He owns and operates the innocuously named BT Diagnostic Centre in the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital premises in Ikeja. No need to ask where he got the money to purchase all the ultra modern equipment in that centre. The easy answer is the state coffers. By the way, for those who don't know, the full name is Bola Tinubu Diagnostic Centre. It costs an arm and a leg to do medical tests there, and you pay in cash!!! Fashola will not follow him into the gutter, no matter how much Tinubu and his boys try to drag him down there with them. He's too decent a fellow for that. So, they will try to impeach him. The threat is VERY REAL, and it really is because Fashola wants to stop using Alpha Beta, in order to stop the N2b per month leakage that Tinubu is sucking from there. |

Are you guys aware that Tinubu is trying to use his stooges in the State House of Assembly, including the speaker, Ikuforiji, to impeach Fashola?? Why, you might want to ask? Well, first off, Fashola is fed up (and rightly so) of having to wait until Tinubu (a known cocaine abuser) is sober enough to RATIFY any decision made by the State Executive Committee. Secondly, he is fed up of the way Tinubu continues to leech off the state through "legal" (his absurd pension and gratuity, which he got his stooges in the State House of Assembly to pass - he earns exactly what Fashola, the sitting state governor earns, and it's "legal" , and extra legal (his company, Alpha Beta Consulting, collects about N2.1b per month from the state, just for printing and issuing receipts on behalf of the state).Thirdly, he's fed up of how he continues to enjoy all the state assets he didn't build but sold to himself for NOTHING (Lekki-Epe Expressway for example, through Hi-Tech Construction, which is a "partner" in the Lekki Concession Company, the company they "concessioned" the road to). He's clearly fed up because he has issued marching orders to the ministries to STOP COLLECTING THEIR REVENUES THROUGH "CONSULTANTS", of which Bola Ahmed Tinubu is the biggest in Africa, just based on his stranglehold on Lagos State's finances alone. Tinubu is now trying to use spurious allegations (fuel for government cars allegations) to impeach him, precisely because, amongst others, Fashola did not let him and his stooges in on the helicopter purchase, and Fashola is not prepared to use state funds to grease the palms of "politicians" in the name of contracts. All the contracts he has given out have gone out to people who are ACTUALLY executing them. The "politicians" (Tinubu's group) either don't, or if they ever do, just in a slipshod manner. Tinubu is determined that Fashola will not return. This is the time for ALL Lagosians to show the "politicians" what they are made of. If the House of Assembly members attempt to go through with their threat of impeachment, I propose that we start a recall process state-wide for all of them. How? Watch this space. By the way, for avoidance of all doubt, I do not know Fashola personally, and have never met him in person. However, I see the things he's doing, and believe that despite the hardship some people are going through now because of his actions, we will all be better off if he can see it all through to its logical conclusion. Lagos CAN become the toast of the whole world. It starts here. |
Akanbi_edu:Mr Edu, I think even Fashola would be surprised if he knew how much support he actually has in the house, at least where Tinubu is concerned. Most of the Reps. just openly support Tinubu, because they FEAR him, not because they LOVE him. On the other hand, they actually admire Fashola's work ethic and would back him in a fight against Tinubu. I believe Tinubu has a shock coming - this will happen when he commands Fashola's impeachment and it fails to materialise, because he may fail to get the required majority to effect an impeachment. Most eminent Lagosians, including the ones eating at Tinubu's table, are fed up of his excesses, and his habit of carrying off Lagos' money to Ekiti and Osun to fight lost causes. There is also another rumour which is gaining currency and refuses to disappear: Rauf Aregbesola allegedly assaulted Fashola at a State Exco meeting, and Tinubu did not take action. Neither did Fashola himself, well, at least immediately. However, there is mounting evidence that Fashola is taking shrewd steps to bring the Tinubu gravy train to a resounding halt. And Tinubu and his people do not like this one bit, especially the assault on Alpha Beta Consulting - the N2 billion per month company allegedly owned by Tinubu. |
Fashola needs to watch his back seriously. Having served as Tinubu's Chief of Staff, and having saved his behind from going to jail on more than one occasion, he knows where "Asiwaju"'s bodies are buried, so to speak, and therefore has the upper hand in this battle. If the constitution is amended in time for the 2011 elections to allow independent candidates to contest, Fashola, on his current trajectory, will win in Lagos State as an independent - hands down! If not, he can always negotiate with his friend, Jimi Agbaje and his fellow DPA members, who want nothing more than to cut "Tinubu" (also known as Amoda Ogunlere) down to size, and also stop him from milking Lagos State altogether. His Sins: 1. Raised a N50b bond for infrastructure in Lagos state and did a good job on Lagos Island. On the mainland, all the roads except the one in Yaba by PW are sorry excuses for construction jobs and will be found out within one rainy season. Where did the N50bn go? 2. Despite the N50bn, he apparently concessioned (read sold) Lekki-Epe expressway to a private consortium, one of whose members he has a serious stake in, namely the grossly incompetent Hi-Tech construction company. Their lack of expertise is an open wound on the Lekki-Epe expressway that users of that road are bearing right now and will bear for years to come unless the "concession" is revoked on grounds of non-performance. 3. There is an allegation, which refuses to go away, that he owns a controlling interest in Alpha Beta Consulting, a company fronted by a UK returnee, which earns around N2.1b in commissions every month from all Lagos State revenue, just for printing and issuing receipts! 4. In addition to selling the Lekki-Epe Expressway to himself, he has allocated thousands of hectares of the choicest lands in the Lekki axis to companies in which he has a substantial interest, or to himself and to his wife, who, incidentally is eyeing Ganiyu Solomon's senatorial seat. 5. He controls almost all the commissioners in Fashola's cabinet, with the unsalutary scenario of him having to clear decisions made at state executive council meetings. Commissioners like Banire and Abosede Francisco (considering the Physical Planning bill he sent to the house, in which he arrogated the power of life and death in Physical Planning in Lagos State to himself as commissioner) undermine the Governor at every opportunity and slow down the pace of development in the state to sabotage Fashola's efforts to drag us into the 21st century. 6. He planted a lot of politicians in strategic civil service positions, like Gbenga Ashafa, the Lands Perm. Sec., who is constantly undermining the governor by not paying compensations to villagers for land acquired for development, and constantly carries out controversial and dodgy acquisitions, which the Governor has found himself having to repudiate, because he knew nothing about them. For clarity's sake, the Land Use act vests the power to acquire and allocate land in the person of the Governor, and not a civil servant of any kind. But if Ashafa gets the go ahead from Tinubu, he assumes God has spoken, and acts without consulting the Governor. There are many more like him planted in the service. However, one thing he doesn't seem to realise is that Fashola has support. That support is based entirely on Fashola's work so far. We can see the difference between someone who wants to feather his own nest, and someone who actually takes pride in his work. Fashola should harbour NO FEAR, because the voice of the people is the voice of God. Ignore Tinubu and his people, and actually start weeding them out, starting with the civil service infiltrators, and then moving on to the political appointees. If they were appointed by Tinubu, no matter how much loyalty they pledge to you, WEED THEM OUT. If not, they will wait for you to turn your back and knife you whenever Tinubu tells them to. One area you can also cut them down to size is to get your own people in the House of Assembly to pass a bill returning Lagos state to 20 local governments, and carrying out elections into all of them immediately. You have people who are ready to back you with money and sweat ALL OVER LAGOS STATE, even in Ibeju-Lekki! Just say the word, and you'll be surprised. Supplant Tinubu's boys in the LGAs and hand back their land, advertising, market, parking and sanitation revenue to them, and you'll have your own machinery in place overnight, which Tinubu's people will not understand. You must start moving NOW!! Eko o ni baje o. |
opuro:I knew he was the Master of the Game when he sold the Yar'Adua candidacy through the back-door to Ibori and Saraki, the two with the most to lose if an honest and capable person were to become president. He so sold it to them, they actually believed they had discovered him themselves, and proceeded to convince Obasanjo that Yar'Adua was the man!! That was a master stroke in several ways. 1. He needed to make sure that Atiku would not win. By letting the 3rd term story run for as long as he did, he ensured that Atiku would not get the PDP ticket, even though it was obvious to most observant people that he was not really interested in a 3rd term at all. 2. Atiku's bedrock of support lay in the PDM wing of the PDP, and PDM was founded by Shehu Musa Yar'Adua, Umoru's late elder brother. He appealed to Northern sentiments and split the PDM at the same time by introducing Umoru Yar'Adua into the mix. 3. By waiting till so late before naming his choice, he protected Yar'Adua from possible assasination, as this was already quite rampant in PDP. 4. He already was aware of what Yar'Adua's ailment was, and knew he would not be able to survive it, doing the job of President of Nigeria 5. The end game was to limit the North's hold on power to perhaps 4 years or less, after which agitation would start for a South-South President 6. Looks like he's managed to achieve just that, and the "power brokers" in Aso rock and elsewhere are just running helter-skelter with no tangible result or plan of action. As for me o, I can see Obasanjo really means well for Nigeria. Not only does he mean well, he is also doing well for his country of birth. |
