Romance / Re: Love: An Illusion Or A Misconception by fellow(m): 5:50pm On Jan 23, 2011
@d-sense

I don't quite agree with you. You said the 'feeling of love varies from one person to another' but I think love should be a feeling we share towards people and not just a specific person. A number of things make people break off a relationship and I doubt if lack of love is one of them.

As for your other post, you made mention of a guy/girl falling more/less in love with their ex or current partners. With this point, don't you think it shows that love can be transferred from one party to another.

@iice

I'd like to go through your old post. You talked about interpretation of love. Take a look at this case, let's assume a poor guy and a rich guy are both in 'love' with the same girl. The fact that the rich guy can interpret his love with gifts and cash while the poor guy interprets his with his sincerity and genuineness doesn't imply that one love is greater than the other regardless of who the girl eventually picks.

If this is true then it shows that love is generic and has no influence on sustenance of a relationship or marriage.

Romance / Love: An Illusion Or A Misconception by fellow(m): 12:03pm On Jan 23, 2011
I have often asked myself what the word 'love' really mean. Does it mean that tingling sensation I feel when I see a girl I like? Or probably the 'strong things' she makes me feel whenever I am with her? Over time I have come to realize, love to me is generic. It doesn't sustain a relationship and neither does it guarantee a successful marriage. A lot of factors comes into play when it comes to finding a life partner and I do not think that 'tingling emotional feeling' is part of it.

"Generic is something that is general, common, or inclusive rather than specific, unique, or selective" - Wikipedia

A number of us approach a relationship believing that love is an emotional feeling that comes into play when we meet our 'perceived' mr/mrs right but if it were that, why do we fall in and out of love? Why do someone you so cherish 2 years ago become a total stranger to you? Does that mean you didn't love him/her at the time when you were both together? Why do we feel so much love for someone, yet when we break up and find someone else, we feel that same love - sometimes greater/lesser than our previous lover?

IMO i think its gonna be 2 things. Its either love has been misinterpreted totally or probably there's a 'feeling' out there greater than love. I'd really like to know your thots on this.

Hilarious thread! I don't think the OP is really interested in breaking it off.

If she's been able to admit that what she was doing is wrong, why come on Nairaland to seek advice? Maybe she's trying to justify her actions!

Good luck. I am sure you're gonna need it!
Romance / Re: Pretty, Good Character, Sound Education: Then What? by fellow(m): 2:28pm On Aug 11, 2010
Come to think of it, do you really think good education, being pretty and a sound education are enough reasons to find a mate nowadays?

Personally I do not think so. In the days of our forefathers, marriage wasn't based on all these reasons but mostly on behaviour, brains and submission. If there is one thing I credit to women then, it is the ability to read their husbands or boyfriends. Most of them hardly had sound education but they were well versed in marital education. They know when to stop and when to go on. They were skilled in the act of patience, they wholeheartedly support their men n are appreciative of the little things men do.

Education has brought about enlighthened  women who are taught to be independent, overly ambitious and ill mannered.

I once dated a girl like that for 2years but I had to leave her cuz she was bad tempered n always wanna lord everything over me. I took it for 2years but that was as far as I could go. A year later she's still single, looking for a soulmate after dating 4/5 guys, the longest lasting 5 months. Do you blame the guys?

Nowadays giving out your body to a man does not guarantee marriage not even deceitfully forcing a baby upon him.

As much as I desire a woman with a good education n all dat, I do not need another lord in my relationship. A man has lotta issues, if we are rich n treat a woman anyhw - we're arrogant n proud likewise if we're poor n treat a woman anyhw we're considered to be ingrates.

Life is a balance, we just need to find the mid point.

I dont think this match would be a draw. Its gonna be tough. Man Utd probably has some of the best forwards in the game and if fergie decides to play the 3 strikers upfront - tevez, rooney and that 'SLOW' berbatov then they might be too much for Arsenal but i won't place my bet him using the 3 striker option. He'll probably use rooney and berb.

i think Man Utd would nick this. Man Utd 3 1 Arsenal

You know i would have believed you wholeheartedly but i wonder why people did not look at your blog well enough. You just started blogging this month and you expect me to believe that you are for real

I would have asked a lot of questions but i don't think that is necessary now.

Why in Gods name would people even allow this go far? A simple view of his blog (less credible) would show you Dayo Coker just started blogging March 21st, 2009,

I think this should finally lay this to rest

You are being quite myopic and not making much sense here, possibly the only book you read and comment about in your life is your bible? no wonder why you beleive so much in it,  (brainwashing you see). I would suggest you pick up other books and expand your understanding of what goes on around you.
By the way, I've written God as god now so you know I'm not scared of the sky falling on my head though I'm sure yu'll come up with some balderdash.

Ah hA Ah hA. You got me laughing here. I wouldn't want to start with you brova. I just feel if you have so much disdain for God, why not just let Him be?

Like i said earlier, regard the whole bible as a folktale and ignore it. I guess thats my best advice to you!!!

You have the moral right to lash out at God yet your best song of 2007 was a gospel song, Olori Oko by Infinity?

I really see no issue to take up with you dude. Good Night!!!
Religion / Re: God Please Come Down And Show Yourself So People Stop Doubting by fellow(m): 4:27am On Jan 11, 2009

I am a Christian n I very much believe in God. What do u really understand by my topic? or post? Do u relly think I'm outrightly asking God to come down? I don't know how you understand my post but i was referring to the atheists, they are increasing so it's like trying to put the atheists to shame. Don't u communicate with God n sometimes hope for the impossible?
I don't know what meaning u put to my post but of cause I'm not directly asking God to come down or what u think/understand

1. Ok i get you now but why would you bother if someone believes God exists or not? If you believe He does then why not let Him handle the so called atheists. Thats why you call Him God!!!

2. Hope for the impossible!!! Yes i do but then the impossible have to be something real. Let the atheist increase oh infact let them multiply, let their hearts gnash at them cause thats what i feel is happenin. It shouldn't bother you at all. Just let your own faith in Him be true and firm!

Sorry i went hard on you but i felt your request was Extreme!!!
Religion / Re: God Please Come Down And Show Yourself So People Stop Doubting by fellow(m): 3:59am On Jan 11, 2009
@poster

I do not know your religious beliefs and if you actually do believe in God or not but if you are a christian well i must say i am ashamed of you. Why should God come down to prove His Being? If you really are a true christian then you would realize what you just asked him to do is outrightly stupid, if you are not then i understand your plight,

@ y'all atheists

I have read your various comments on this issue and i would like to point out some simple observations. If you people do not believe in God, why then do you talk about his inconsistencies and ignore the consistencies? Why do you bother about the story of creation/the tower/Noah and the Ark tales if you believe that their is no God? why do you even read about him in the first instance? Why not just regard the whole bible as a folktale (not just a part of it) and ignore its content? It beats my imagination that you would take time to do an awful lot of research on biblical flaws because you want to prove the fact that God doesn't not exist. Why go through all the stress? I do not believe in the likes of Sangos/Obatalas despite the fact that they MIGHT be real and i would not (for all the money in the world) go digging up the archives just because i want to prove their non-existence. It makes no sense!!!

I just think the reason why you all do and say all these gibberish about God is because you are DAMN scared. If not why not face your own beliefs and ignore what other people say, Its not as if you are been forced to believe!!!
Why not take up the issue with God Himself? Oh i get it He doesn't exist so that means your facts/opinions/ideas about Him should not even come up at all, The hell most of you people write God as God and not god, Why?

@bindex

I can see you are a muslim but a very poor one at that. You say God is not real but then shout Allahs name across board. Who is Allah? Who is Prophet Issa? If you are a versed muslim you would know that prophet Issa - Jesus - , according to your hadith (which most muslim would never read) is coming back to this Earth. Have you ever read that? If you have, what is He coming to do? The only major difference between muslims and christians is none other than the place of Jesus (Prophet Issa) in Gods domain. Muslims believe Jesus (Prophet Issa) is a normal prophet like others before Him while christians believe He's more than that,

I just see all these as desperate measures from desperate souls. People trying to find justification where there is none. They all want concrete believe so that they don't rot in hell,

The reason this thread has gone on for too long (32pages shocked) is because some christians are taking the pains to defend their religion. If they had ignored y'all and your comments maybe it would have been a forgotten thread and you would have looked elsewhere for the very answers that plague your souls,

@Moderators/Administrator

I really do wonder if some people here are 'untouchables'. I went through the rules of the forum and i can say what has been happening on this board for example is a far cry from the expected guidelines and yet we don't hesitate to condemn our leaders just because they don't follow the rules. I have seen this topic dragged out of line by some religious fanatics and personal attacks have been the order of the day.

@Back to topic

Do we really want OBAMA to be seen as been 'BLACK'? This is what in my view the Ndi and her likes were trying to portray when they came up with this fundraising stuff. No wonder McCain is leading OBAMA presently. I do not think Africans in America need to be sensitized or educated on the need to vote for OBAMA. Where the hell was Ndi when it was a case of OBAMA n Hillary Clinton? I just wish they haven't ruined his chances of winning the presidential race just yet.

What she did was in my own case morally wrong and by God she has every right to do what she can with her money and can even go ahead to buy him a jet but at what cost? Food prices have been soaring, roads are in a comatose, some people can barely feed once in a day and infrastructures are way off the grounds yet a whooping $100m was raised during an event for someone who doesn't even care if they exist.

@Some posters

The issue of inviting for questioning and actual arrest if i may add depicts the level our media houses would go just to sell their papers. Would a header titled EFCC ARRESTS NDI not make a better impression and effect than EFCC INVITES NDI FOR QUESTIONING? of course it would. So either its questioning or arrest doesn't matter as long as their newspaper sells.

@ Others

She must be prosecuted but i say based on what? Raising of funds for an event? Crippling the NSE? Obtaining money under false pretenses? We have loads of politicians and ex-gov who have been accused of corruption point blank with overwhelming evidence and yet all EFCC could brag about is Ndi?

Well to me i do not think what she did was out of order cause like she said she did not put a gun on anyones head to donate money and she has a right to do whatever she likes BUT for me i think she acted like most leaders, simply unpatriotic. She would have been better off going back to her home town to develop different projects that would not only affect lives alone but would make her an icon and someone people who look upto in that area.

@That hausa guy

Well i think you must be educated at least to be able to come on nairaland to air your views but please do so with caution and regards for other people. I do not care if Yar' dua cites 10million base stations in the North cause at the end of the day it really would make no sense to the common northener who's only concern is to find someone to feed him.
