I had my B.Tech in Chemistry and I want to apply for an MBA in VIU this fall.

I'm making arrangements of the necessary documents since the school has requested ALL documents be uploaded on my portal.

There is a problem though. I need to submit two recommendation letters alongside my application and from what i gathered, since it wont be sent tl the school by email, the letter better be in a letterhead.

I intend asking my project supervisor to write one on my behalf whilst I Need your help for the other one.

I would appreciate any suggestions.

To save you some stress start from this website http://graddecision.org/ to know the application process, So step 1) Decide on the course you want to study 2) Search for schools using a)www.msinus.com (open this website with a laptop, you should see a list of school and ranking for some of the most common courses, you can start from there b)www.gradschools.com c)www.google.com (you can just type 'msc in bla bla in the us in google' d) www.usnews.com e) www.4icu.org . 3) check up the website of the schools you find, to see the requirements. Most schools will require GRE and some will require both gre and toefl . 4) Register for standardize exam and take it. You can register for gre as soon as you are ready and prepared to take the exam. Its done online at www.ets.org. You can also get all the information you need about the exam on the website. TOEFL is an English test required by some US universities. though, some schools waive due to the fact that Nigeria is an Anglophone country.
For toefl, all you need are the speaking noteful videos in the link below, the ets toefl guide is enough to ace the exam for other sections. Just download the toefl ETS Guide from there website and the simulation test.

As for the Tuition, if you have good results (GRE, GPA, Toefl), SOP and LOR; US schools do offer assistanship to graduate students. This can either be Research Assistant, Teaching Assistant or Administrative Assistant. Depending on the school, if you get an assistantship, your Tuition will be waived and you will also be paid a monthly stipend that can take care of your living expenses. One advice, once you shortlist schools, send emails to the grad cord of the schools and ask specific questions relating to that course and funding opportunities, be very explicit.

Lastly, there are basically 2 admission session in the US, Spring (Jan) and Fall (August). Schools admit more students in Fall, so Its advisable you plan towards Fall 2018. If you plan to resume in fall 2018, make sure you submit all your application documents before ending of Dec 2017. If you don't give it a trial, you will never know.My philosophy in life is to always do my part, with that I don't get to regret later. Above all, if you believe in God,pray to him..if not, good for you.

On the back of 5 visa denials (admitted into UBC, Canada and visa denied 3times due to insufficient funds, travel history etc plus Cleveland State University - admitted, no GRE, no funding, denied twice last year) I went to the embassy yesterday. Got there about 5:50am for a 7am appointment. After all the checking in, we got on the queue to be interviewed. Windows 1&2 were not available so we sha couple. A VO was speaking Yoruba to aged applicants, it was really funny . Lots of Babcock s!

This thread topic says "enquiries for USA student visa". I have absolutely no interest in what anyone has as a plan for their life after school or after they get their visa unless they ask for my opinion. I focus on the primary issue and that is: "How can this member get a visa legally based on the information provided?".

It's not my job to worry about why someone would wanna spend $100k to go study adult education in Singapore. It is not my business. Again, when I'm asked what can I do to get a visa, I consider what information the person provides and give my opinion. That's all.

They have the freedom to completely ignore my opinion/advice and call me clueless.

I read your transcript. Now, I'll attempt an analysis like you requested.

1. Stay on track. Not for this particular question but for all questions. Simple question: which school are you going to? Give a simple answer.

2. I read the "VO countenance changed..." part and wondered what the relevance was. Did the VO's demeanor knock you off balance, put you under pressure, trigger a change in your own demeanor that you started stuttering/shivering/sending wrong vibes to them? If so, that may be where you started encountering problems and things went downhill.

3. Your reasons for choosing IGU. No, Sir. I would have cut you off too. Time is important and they don't wanna listen to things like that. You'll need to do better.

4. "I was confused at first"... you should have asked for clarification. I have no clue what you were trying to say with that answer. What relationship do the three schools have? Who knows if all of them are private schools or if they're all in republican states or "they all have an A rating for low crime on campus" lol. Could be anything. Oh! Maybe "they all offer graduate programs in IT field" idk.

5. The drilled doctor before you... irrelevant.

In summary, you shouldn't waste your money going for another interview until you've prepared better. You still need work... personally, I'm interested in knowing why you chose IGU. Just curious, let's start from there.

I got admitted to Utah Valley University, in Orem, Utah, and my interview is next week, but I applied with GRE or SAT, so I will be doing a compulsory one semester English course, and on my F1 English as a second language is there as the course, I am to study and not Biotechnology I applied for, but on my DS160, I wrote I will be studying Biotechnology because the English course is because I didn’t provide GRE or SAT, and holla at me if you’re also a UVU admit.

Looking to secure a PhD admission in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering .

I applied to 5 universities for Fall 2018 start but got bounced by all, except NYU that requested me to defer in order to provide IELTS/TOEFL for 2019 admission. Cornell rejected because I couldn't get IELTS waiver.

I guess I'm having a though time because I'm switching field to pursue what I really desire, but I know there are some good (ranked) universities that would be good fit for me. People who have sure university information should please share with me so that I can research them on my own.

Canadian Universities: U of Toronto(application incomplete because of NASU strike) and McGill.

And for your information, there’s no school as “Texas A&M the Kingston one” .....if you can’t do research about schools in the US, then just shut the Bleep up, and refrain from discouraging people here. Not everyone can afford to go to MIT and the likes.
And as someone has rightly pointed out, school ranking doesn’t automatically secure your dream job, you have to work towards getting such job irrespective of your school ranking.
For example, I came across a student from UPenn who’s looking for Summer Internship, meanwhile, many students from TAMUK which you perceived as a dead school got offers from Intels/IBM during the last NSBE convention/career fair in Pittsburgh.....
The bottom line is; u don’t choose school based on how it sounds to you. If MIT, Vanderbilt, etc are the schools that pleases you, you don’t have publicly condemn other schools that you don’t even know about. I repeat, If you are not informed, just keep shut....
If you aren’t ignorant, you would never try to compare any accredited university here in the US with Unilag and your Covenant University....you are only exposing your ignorance further.

Finally, my advice to prospective applicants. Just ensure that your school/program is accredited, get the right skill sets in your desired field, build a very good resume and you will be good for job/internships opportunities here. Those so called lowly ranked school will help you unleash your potential that you might never discover if you keep waiting in Nigeria to get into the top/Ivy League schools.

I am so pissed because 2018 Fall resumption is approaching. Will it be written on my i20 that it's an online course and is it advisable for me to tender it at the embassy or should I apply to another university (which i'm already doing) to save me the embarrassment ?? @Femi321 I'll let the matter slide. The first thing when giving a counter-argument is to understand the point of the original argument. As you have stated that you didn't understand the point I tried to make in what I wrote, I'll let it go.

We've both made our points known. You're saying going for STEM courses would help someone's odds of achieving the American dream, and that's good. I'm saying people who can't go that path shouldn't beat themselves up and think they'd never succeed here, that's all.

Saying you "disagree with the bolded" simply means you're saying having a creative arts/insurance background means you're sure to fail in the U.S if you don't change to Engineering, IT or Medicine. I will NEVER accept that. Changing to those things guarantee absolutely NOTHING! Again, not thinking outside the box is the reason people fail.

I'll simply remind you that at the time of VISA applications/interviews, everyone tells the VO they ONLY wanna go study and go back to their country. All the ideas about OPT/H1B visa etc plans after school (if we're strictly going by the book) ARE ILLEGAL. I'm sure you know that having/hiding an immigrant intent during a NON-IMMIGRANT visa application is illegal and that's already a reasonable ground for denial.

If you don't believe me, someone here should go for a visa interview and when asked why they chose the program/school, they should say: "because it's a STEM program, after graduation, good companies will hire me and I stand a better chance of getting H1B visa".

My point: people who sit on the moral high ground with the same IMMIGRANT INTENT, should not come here discouraging a section of people who wouldn't do things their way and encouraging anothers. There are other ways to become an immigrant and have a life in the U.S., it's not just for programmers/nurses/engineers and that's why I always say leave people to think outside the box and have a plan with their life.

Let's be consistent! If we wanna advise people to come here to study, let's do JUST that! Encourage them to study and go back to where they're coming from. If we wanna start advising people on how to achieve their American dreams (whatever the dreams are), let's level the playing field.

The American dream is NOT only for students on scholarship, first class graduates, engineering/IT/Medical majors. Anyone in life can be successful in anything they set their hearts on with good planning and a bit of luck.

I have said it many times, the problem with Nigeria is not just with the corrupt politicians, but with the mindset of the average Nigerian citizen. Looking down on people/places/things in 2018? *sigh*

@thegrandchemist put it absolutely spot on!!! "KNOW THYSELF". Know your strengths and weaknesses, and plan your life according to them. If you have a background in creative arts or Insurance, don't let anyone fool you into thinking you'd be a complete failure here unless you switched to an engineering or nursing program. Life comes with NO guarantees.

Not everyone can score 320+ on their GRE or 110+ on TOEFL to get into top programs/schools. Don't look down on people who can't get into those programs and go to lesser known schools instead. As @Femi321 put it, the country has changed. Most of the employers now lose interest in hiring foreigners who need to be sponsored to get legal status to work. Going to study at the white house guarantees absolutely NOTHING.

Getting into top programs is great! I encourage people who have what it takes to shoot for them, but let's encourage others who cannot. A friend of mine went to a school no one knows about at age 32 and got a Bachelor's in finance. She works for Microsoft now and makes $120k+ per annum.
Another friend with a Nursing Masters degree makes so much less than her. They are both happy with their lives.

Other examples, a truck driver friend went to truck driving training for 8 weeks or so, job he got now pays him about $60k, CNAs (after 6 weeks of training) get jobs that pay $14+ per hour. Happiness in life is subjective, let's encourage people.

You have no idea how difficult it is for some people to even get into those schools you laugh at and the joy on their faces when they finally see the admission letters from them. Encourage people to believe in themselves and think outside the box.
