That is why we always say people should seek for knowledge by reading this thread and not always depend on one time answers. If you had read this thread, you would have known that you don't even need any special textbook or training to get above 90 in Toefl. Now to your score, how you got a very decent score in the hardest part and completely messed up the parts which is like ABC is beyond me. eddyme:This depends on the earlier emails that have been exchanged between both Parties. Some schools like Uni of Maryland,college park does not need official transcript for admission decision, but once admission decision has been sent to the grad school, they will request for official document before i20 is sent. This could be a similar case and from the tone of that email, I think he has been admitted. |

Yildiz:Well most graduate coordinator will only give you a percentage of students admitted and not an actual number. I believe with your profile you should get admitted but then I am not on the admision committee.I have no knowledge about data Engineering nor its job prospect. If I were you I will chase electrical engineering because I want to believe it has good job prospect like some other Engineering, although you might find it hard to get jobs after graduation if you are in the Power concentration because that sector needs DOD clearance for you to work. Again, all these are based on hear say and some students experiences. I think Biikeys is in the Electrical field, You might talk to him about his experience in electrical sector. |

Olorisijuade:1) Your CGPA is pretty low (Kamal,Fajobi et al really dealt with you) but with a good GRE score, LOR,SOP and probably some work experiences, you stand a chance. No one can really tell you a school that has funding, funding scenarios each year is different and it depends on availability of funds, how good or average the applicants pool is and so on. Your best bet is to shortlist schools and start mailing the graduate coordinators one after the other to inquire about research and funding opportunities. 2) You need to shoot for something above 320 to boost your GPA. Even at that funding is not certain but at least it will give you an avenue to try and see what comes out of it. If I were you, I will plan and apply towards Fall 2019, there are more admission and funding opportunities in Fall cycles because its the main session in the US and more students graduate in Spring which opens up spaces for the next Fall. 3)No one has a list. Most schools will state on their websites if they offer Assistanship or not. If you get a good GRE school, you can shortlist and apply to 2 schools in the top 70 but if you don't, don't waste your time and money applying to them because your CGPA is pretty low, you might even need to evaluate your CGPA to a scale of 4.0 first here www.wes.org to know if you will make minimum of 3.0/4.0 and if not, just start looking for schools that admit 2.8/4 CGPAs like Northern Illinois University, University of Toledo etc. I am just mentioning these schools from the top of my head so I don't know if they have Civil Engineering program. You might also need to look for schools that give international students instate tuition, with that you get to pay a lesser tuition compare to the huge out of state tuition. You can look at schools in Texas like TAMUK etc. You can also check University of Toledo and University of Wyoming. Note that these schools are not ranked but it is what it is, your options are limited right now. If Phd is your ultimate goal, you may go to these schools, get a good grade with good research experience then apply to a Tier 1 school for Phd. There is no hard rule about this. 21 Likes 4 Shares |

DEEAJA:I dont know what you mean by MPNP or 25% bla bla bla but you cant use pension statement as proof of fund for studies in the US. You need to show proof of cash that is readily available like savings account or current account statements. |

tactmayor:No one can know for a fact that there is funding in a particular school, even current students in that particular school can only speculate. Your best best is to take your time and shortlist (like 30) as many schools as possible that meets your dreams and research options. Then start sending emails to grad cord in each school to inquire about funding and research opportunities. You can also contact some few faculties in each school, their responses will guide your decision. Some will tell you they dont have funding, some will encourage you to apply and some wont reply at all. This advice will only work well for you if you plan for Spring 2019/Fall 2019 (Fall semester is the best) because you dont have time for that anymore now. Goodluck |

tactmayor:Stop spamming this thread with this same post. No one can give you schools to apply to. You had a first class, you should be able to do proper research online using all the links that have been posted and reposted several times on this forum. I dont mean to sound harsh but sometimes one needs to hear the truth and not what you want to hear. By the way, if by now you are still looking for schools to apply to, you will end up applying to a mediocre school because most good schools close funding application as early as Dec 15 and some Jan 15. If you end up not getting admision for fall, just plan towards Spring 2019/Fall 2019 and look at the options of re-writing Gre to get a better score. Please dont go and waste that your GPA in one unranked school. I gave you a link to civil engineering schools ranking but you decided to ignore it and start looking for help where there is non. A serious person would have visited almost all the schools on that list to see their requirements and deadlines. I am not exaggerating, I visited all the schools on that list from 1 to 100 some years ago when I was at your stage. 2 Likes |

You can register for gre as soon as you are ready and prepared to take the exam. Its done online at www.ets.org. You can also get all the information you need about the exam on the website. ollatoye:1) Please learn how to type well, all these shorthand wont help you on the long run 2) You cant need both GRE and GMAT, it's either GRE or GMAT. 3) Getting a waiver wont be to your own interest even if that is possible. A good example is the ViSA transcript up there, he/she almost got the Visa until the discussion got to GRE.4) Take your life serious and do everything yourself, its very easy at the same time daunting, read this thread from page 1 and you should have more insight after reading 9 Likes |

kylexy61:You should have sourced for funds or something. Getting admision is easy with a good grade but getting admision with funding is the hard part. Many crazy students are coming from India, China with profile like yours or even better, so funding competition gets crazier each year. Let me ask you, what aspect of Civil are you looking at? Environmental and Geotechnical aspect seem to have more funding than structures. So if you intend to specialize in Structures, try apply to 1 or 2 phd programs. Additionally check Washington state University, I know application closed 2 days ago but who knows, with your profile you might just make it if you complete your application in 1week. My phylisophy in life is to do my own part as well as possible so I dont regret later that what if I try harder bla bla 1 Like |
