Now here is the part people should actually think about.
Angelina Jolie herself was born Angelina Jolie Voight. In 2002, after a very public breakdown in her relationship with her father, Jon Voight, she legally dropped his surname.
So there is a remarkable pattern here. A daughter separated herself from her father by removing his name.
Years later, several of her children are separating themselves from their father by removing his name.
Is that proof that Angelina is inciting that she js doing the same thing to Brad through het children ?

Children should not become weapons in an adult conflict. A mother can hate her ex husband without teaching the children to hate their father.
A father can be angry with his ex wife without making the children choose him.
The children will eventually become adults and should be allowed to reach their own conclusions about both parents.
What makes this case particularly interesting is that the estrangement has become so widespread among the children. Brad had been accused of abuse and has denied the allegations. At the same time, the children are adults or reaching adulthood, and their decisions about their names are legally theirs. We should not pretend they have no agency.

Because a child can be genuinely hurt by a parent. A child can also genuinely love a parent.
A child can hear one version of a family story for years before becoming old enough to examine it independently.
The saddest part of a bitter divorce is not losing the marriage.
It is when the children lose the freedom to have a relationship with both parents without feeling that loving one person is a betrayal of the other.
Whatever happened between Brad and Angelina, I hope those children eventually get something more valuable than a surname.
I hope they get the freedom to know the complete truth about their family and make their own judgments without inheriting their parents' war.
