Family › Re: I've Got A Fearless Daughter – How Do People Do This Gentle Parenting Thing? by femi4: 8:17am On Sep 14, 2025
RevenuesBoost:
How do people do this gentle parenting thing?🤦
Because honestly, I haven’t even started and I’m already raising my voice!🙆

I’ve had to stop Baby Light so many times from unintentionally hurting her cat.
Sometimes I’m screaming for the cat’s safety, other times, for my daughter’s.

Wherever you find Baby Light and Kitty together, just know that some rough play is about to begin.
They’re inseparable—even when I try to keep them apart.
But Light can get a bit too rough, and I often find myself yelling—not out of anger, but from panic.
I have a fearless daughter who sees loud noises as music.
Sounds that should startle most kids? Baby Light hears them and starts dancing, smiling wide like it's a celebration.

Some people say I share stories about my family for attention.
That made me laugh.
The truth? I use Nairaland as an archive.
I've even recovered lost images from it before.

I still wonder why some people are so quick to judge and downgrade others.
But I guess that's how they are.

Gentle parenting isn’t about never raising your voice; it’s about guiding calmly and reconnecting if you do.

Show and praise “gentle hands,” use short, clear commands like “soft hands” or “stop,” and supervise play so you can step in if it gets too rough.

Try to use a firm, calm voice instead of shouting when you panic

You only find out who has your back when you hit your lowest point. Life has a way of testing relationships, and it is often in seasons of struggle that true loyalty is revealed.

When everything is going well, many people will surround you, offering laughter, company, and support that seems genuine. But when challenges strike whether in finances, health, or personal battles, some will quietly withdraw, while the ones who truly care will stay, offering encouragement, sacrifice, and unwavering presence.

Sadly, some friends or people you once stood by wholeheartedly may claim they can’t even remember you when you turn to them for help, showing that their loyalty was only surface-deep. Hitting rock bottom is painful, yet it strips away pretenses and shows clearly who values you for who you are, not for what you have. It is in those moments of brokenness that the strength of real friendship and love shines the brightest.
They owe you nothing..stop gaslighting your friends

There is this recent debate I got into with some colleagues as regards to which of these soups;Okro or Ogbono is best to take 'swallows' like fufu, pounded yam, wheat, starch, amala etc. I opted for Ogbono soup but some said Okro.
Please I hope I made a right choice?
I like Okro but not to be compared to Ogbono.
What is your take, are you an Okro or Ogbono lover?

sorosoke101:
I had the worst nagging experience of my life today. chai how can someone complain from 9:45 pm to 3:00 am.

What started this argument I don't even know I kept quite for 2 hrs only for me to burst out in anger because I was constantly reminded how I was a failure, how I stole my sister's 5k fifteen years ago, how I spent my own bursary allowance at the university 10 yrs ago, infact all sort of irrelevant accusations where being dug up, it was like a blast from the past and I almost ran mad, not because of the accusations but because of the way those words kept disturbing my peace.

This same nagging experience from the past made me buy earphones all the time, but today I couldn't find any. My ears heard a lot and I bursted out in anger and Spit out painful words, cos I was frustrated by the noise.

Now am regretting my actions, I should have kept my cool. The regret plus the nagging is suicidal. I just had to play a verse of the Quran (yasin) on my playlist even though am not a Muslim (found that quranic verse on my song list). Have you experienced such before? Whether from family or friends or total strangers
If you improve on your character, it can heal the pain of the past

All these stupid, nonsense records.

Indians have been cooking way larger quantities of rice in aluminum pits for years and they never made it a record. These ones will just see something and abuse it at every opportunity they get.

Very nonsense mentality.

I don't blame them though, I blame a country of jobless folks that will keep sucking up to them out of laziness and joblessness. They are people actually affecting lives positively but no, it's some useless acts and people we'll rather promote and give popularity.

There's no expression like ' abrod –based ' in English Language. Abroad as a word is a preposition like, 'behind ', ' infront' etc , and NOT an adjective or adverb. The expression is supposed to be ,' foreign – based ' .
You are incorrect

In dictionary, some words have 1st, 2nd, 3rd etc meaning depending on context

Abroad - in or to a foreign country or countries.

Example
"we usually go abroad for a week in May"

He cant doing anything from that angel that area is playing is sloppy high if you look at it well. His pattern of play is like that of doku of man city. He can't easily take that ball up. Second half will be the game changer when he can play slope down. Iwobi isnt even doing his job cant hold ball at all. Cant beat opponent to create space for attackers.
he should just cross..you can't play fancy football in a pitch like this
