South African prisoners have voiced their dissatisfaction after the Department of Correctional Services announced that beef and chicken would be reduced from their meal plan in favour of cheaper alternatives.
Some have even claimed that they have been left “starving” by smaller portions of food.
The department is headed by Minister Pieter Groenewald, who has facilitated a crackdown on unlawful practices behind bars.
This week, the Department of Correctional Services, they have introduced a new meal plan to prisoners.
This includes less red meat, chicken, and fish and more “cheaper alternatives” like soya products.

GistMedia0: A young woman was left in tears after Walmart offered her a job, despite her face being covered in tattoos. In a heartfelt video, she expressed her shock and gratitude, encouraging people to stay positive no matter their struggles.
Her story quickly went viral, with many praising Walmart for giving her a chance based on her potential rather than her appearance. The incident has sparked a larger conversation about workplace inclusivity and second chances.
The video footage shows the robot lunging itself towards the group of shocked festival goers standing behind the barricade.
It was taken on February 9 at the Spring Festival Gala in Tianjin, northeast China.
Security staff at the festival were forced to intervene and drag the erratic robot away from everybody.
But festival organisers said that the robot suffered a "simple failure".
They said the robot passed previous safety tests, and that additional measures would be put in place to make sure this wouldn’t happen again.
This is not the first time robots have turned against humans.
A robot in Tesla’s Texas factory pinned an engineer down and sank its claws into his back and arm, leaving a "trail of blood", according to an official incident report.
Another worker was forced to hit the emergency stop button to free their colleague from the robot’s grasp when he was unable to escape.
He then fell "a couple of feet" down a chute designed to collect scrap aluminium, according to technology website The Information.
The engineer is said to have suffered cuts that left blood across the Austin factory floor, but did not require any time off work.
The robot was one of three that should have been switched off to allow the engineer and his teammates to perform maintenance, but was accidentally left on.
In another incident, a chilling video showed the moment a tiny robot convinced larger machines to revolt and leave their jobs.
The footage of the robot revolution came from the CCTV circuit of a showroom in Shanghai, China, where the company claimed their bots were "kidnapped" by the smaller robot, named Erbai.

GistMedia0: A bride’s father stirred controversy at a wedding by telling the groom, “YOUR WIFE MUST NOT COOK FOR YOU.” His remark immediately ignited heated discussions both at the event and on social media.
Many critics argued that such a statement undermines traditional marriage roles, with some insisting that it weakens the groom’s authority and disrupts household harmony. “The foundation of marriage should be based on mutual roles, and cooking has always been a part of a wife's duty,” one person commented. Others expressed concerns that this could lead to a power imbalance, making the groom feel less in control in his own home.
On the other hand, some defended the father’s perspective, emphasizing that modern marriages are about mutual understanding rather than rigid roles. “The husband and wife should determine what works for them,” a supporter remarked, arguing that every marriage is unique. Others suggested that when a woman isn’t pressured to cook, she may actually enjoy doing it more willingly. “If a man doesn’t impose expectations, she’ll likely cook for him out of love and not obligation.”
