If the battery voltage usually gets above 53.4V before cutting off the charging, then your BMS is already in floating mode but the BMS is not calibrating the % counter to 100 before cutting off charging which is usually the issue with most of these BMS.

Tucode:
Thanks for your response bro. But I honestly do not have the facility to do what you’ve asked. I’m not a professional technician, just a consumer. But the voltage according to the inverter is usually around 53.4V when charging cuts off.

My problem with majority of all these so called 15kwh 300ah batteries is that the cells inside are mostly 280ah cells.

LOL.. thats not true. it will clip. I do run my 10kv hybrids with 33,000 watts of solar panels connected. MPPT pulling 120amps from dawn to dusk. One year and still working. Satellite TV TechnologyRe: Solar Energy, A Complement To FTA by Ferdiwar: 12:39pm On Feb 24, 2025
This quotation is overly inflated and the installer seems inexperienced from the size of Cables on the list.

16mm DC cable is too much for 6 panels that will be connected in series as the current is under 20A.

Same goes to 16mm AC cable for a 6KW inverter.

burnerr:
Hi house, great work I've seen being done on this thread.
I'll be needing your help once again.
I finally got the growatt spf 6000es and the growatt hope 5.5l-a1 battery with 6 620W jinko panels.
Time for installation, I reached out to the installer who had first given me a quote that I had procured the main things myself.
Now he sent me a new quote with some things added which weren't in the first quote.
Please could anyone help me go over this quote if it's proper?
Satellite TV TechnologyRe: Solar Energy, A Complement To FTA by Ferdiwar: 1:48pm On Feb 21, 2025
Until they jail some of these installers others no go get sense.

Get another person to connect all the panels in series.

SourYoghurt:

the installer claims that it was done in parallel.
Satellite TV TechnologyRe: Solar Energy, A Complement To FTA by Ferdiwar: 7:26pm On Feb 19, 2025
The MPPT charge controller will convert the excess voltage to current which is one of the advantages of MPPT charge controllers.

From the spec sheet you attached, the input current of the charge controller is about 11A so series connection is your best bet.

Hoverbird:
But that won't produce enough current to charge the battery properly. Remember the recommended charge current in the datasheet is 50A. One panel produces a max current of 13.4A.
Satellite TV TechnologyRe: Solar Energy, A Complement To FTA by Ferdiwar: 4:32pm On Feb 19, 2025
Connect all the panels in series

The 6mm cable is ok for the series connection as the current of the panels will remain constant.

Hoverbird:
Hello guys please I need advise.

I have a 5kwhr/5kva LiPO4 system(Inverter/charge controller/Battery) in a unit.

I purchased 6 units of 650w Sunter Bifacial panels. I posted the specs of the panel and my inverter system. Please what connection is best factoring in the specs of the system.

I already purchased a 6mm2 DC cable and AC/DC breaker. I want to also know if that cable size is sufficient as the recommended charge current for the system is 50A, max 100A.

I intend running a refrigerator and one 1.5HP AC

NB

I intend to Add 2 more units of same panels in 3 months

This is an interesting read.

What are your opinions on the performance of the SMS inverter, Cworth batteries and panels. This will help is expanding the choices of others seeking alternatives to the popular brands.

GloryJoyeux:
My solar yield this January.

The heat this time of the year caused a significant drop in solar yield. Always remember to factor in the temperature coefficient when purchasing your solar panels so as to have a realistic yield estimate when you factor in the different temperatures we experience throughout the year.

10.2kw sms dual mppt
10.28kw panels (12x440w Jinko and 10x500w cworth)
18kwh cworth lifepo4 batteries ( 2x100ah and 1x150ah)
Solar Assistant on Raspberry pi5
Victron smart shunt 300a
Junktek shunt/battery monitor 100a

Achieved 100 percent off-grid status in January.

Take not, load does not factor in the 100wh consumed by the inverter itself (72kwh in 30days)

Peak continuous solar yield this month was 6,500kw i.e 63percent max yield

Peak cumulative load this month was 5.2kw

Max yield - 34.1kwh on Jan 20th
Lowest yield - 12.5kwh on Jan 19th

Max load - 24.3kwh on Jan 27th
Lowest load - 9.8kwh on Jan 19th

Max solar yield in 7days - 205kwh between Jan 17th - 23rd

—Indoor and outdoor lights (17hrs average daily)
—Smart speakers (24/7 standby)
—Laptop charger, phone chargers, smart switches (always plugged, on standby and used on demand)

Average daily energy consumption 20kwh

Something a lot of folks miss when trying to go the renewable energy route is using energy efficient appliances. Converting all appliances to energy efficient ones is as important as getting panels and installing batteries. As you can see, most of my appliances are energy efficient.

Energy management is also an important factor, I make use of smart switches which are automated to turn appliances on and off for different set durations.

My biggest energy consuming appliances for the month of January:

1. Lg 1.5hp inverter air conditioner 184kwh
2. Lg 1hp inverter air conditioner 84kwh
3. Starlink and own router 59kwh
4. Double door fridge 52.3kwh
5. Chest deep freezer 34.63kwh
6. Heat-pump clothes dryer 27kwh

*Sorry for any typo

From the attached, connect the +ve cable from the inverter/CC to the +ve terminal of battery 1 and the -ve cable of the inverter/CC to the -ve terminal of battery 2.

Satellite TV TechnologyRe: Solar Energy, A Complement To FTA by Ferdiwar: 11:40am On Jan 31, 2025
Share pictures of the dip switches from the 2 batteries.

kristien4:
Okay, I'll try that. But does it in anyway have anything to do with the dipswitch? I want to rule that out...
Satellite TV TechnologyRe: Solar Energy, A Complement To FTA by Ferdiwar: 11:17am On Jan 31, 2025
If the imbalance is consistent on a particular battery try below suggestions.

1. Confirm that the battery cables are tightened firmly.
2. Ensure that the parallel cables (between battery 1 and 2) are of same length and also the same size with the cables going to the inverter/CC.
3. Connect one cable from the inverter/CC to battery 1 and the other cable to battery 2.
4. If the batteries are from same manufacturer and same model connect the communication cable and configure them accordingly.

kristien4:
Please @all, i have a little problem with my battery. They are 2 pieces of 10kwh lifepo4 connected in parallel, when being used, they dont drain uniformly, one battery could be at 87% the other at 95% . Is this normal?
Satellite TV TechnologyRe: Solar Energy, A Complement To FTA by Ferdiwar: 10:49am On Jan 31, 2025
Kindly share pictures of the BMS settings.

Jefferyzz:
I coupled my cells with jk BMS and what you mentioned is true. At times my BMS will read 99% and 30a plus will still be charging the battery with 0.006 cell voltage difference. Just like you mentioned, users need to pay attention to pack voltage not just the battery percentage especially when one of those cells don't trigger the BMS HVD which will recalibrate the BMS. I didn't use jbd long enough to know if that's same with them. Jbd or Daly users should let us know if they experience such.
