Thank you Boss for this detailed explanation, I'll open the connection panel and check the connections inside as my came with the MC4 connectors, so I'll confirm how the MC4s are connected inside. Will update you with my findings. jonescosmos: I have never had this kind of issues bro. Please note that the MPPTs are not connected in series, rather they are connected in parallel with some internal diodes that prevents each string from back feeding to the other.

My systems worked flawlessly on Deye 16KW, Deye 8KW, and Parallel Deye 8KW + 8KW as well as every other installations I have done, even non Deye Inverters. I will post you a picture of my Voltages tomorrow afternoon.
I still believe you should investigate further as there might be a problem with your Panel Strings or your connection on the terminals inside the Inverter. I have seen cases were people misinterpreted the terminals. Please take a good look at the attached pictures. Note that Positive from String 1 and Positive from String 2 are next to each other (Parallel) and Negative From String 1 and Negative from String 2 are next to each other likewise (parallel). The issue you experienced is only possible when you connect Positive and Negative of same string next to each other.

Since I installed both panels the inverter have never pulled more than 12A from the panels. The highest I've seen from the CC (MPPT 2) with the Jinkos is 12.5A and about 10A+ from MPPT 2 with the Longi panels, so it's not the current but voltage. I'll open the inverter and check the connection inside. mank1234: This is invalid diagnosis.
All 5kw upwards have at least 2 independent trackers.
Both mppt are independent of each other. Check your error log. My suspicion is; One of your string especially, the 625w may be exceeding 17A Isc during tracking. Very likely when sun comes up after cloud on a rainy day. I use same panel but luckily for me my roof is steep. My inverter clips the input current to 13A Imp. If it wasn't steep I'm sure I would be running into same issues.
The model you have has 13A as Mac input with caveat not to exceed 17A Isc. Your panel is exceeding that limit that's why it happens. I'll suggest you change panel to panels with lesser Isc else the inverter would spoil in the long run. Ideal for that model is Longi 450W with Isc less than 14A

Update on my setup.
Sometime last month I connected all my AC to the smart load of my inverter, and noticed that the inverter was going off and on repeatedly for like 5x before stabilizing back on. This would happen severely in a day before the sun goes down as I discovered it only happens during the day.
As a result I reverted back to the previous connection and disabled the smart load thinking that was my issue, but it still persisted, so I did some reading online and concluded it might be a software bug.
I emailed Deye and requested for diagnosis and update which they did by pushing a remote firmware update to the inverter, yet the issue continued (in my mind I was like I spent huge money to buy a faulty batch of an expensive inverter). I sent an update email yesterday to Deye explaining that the issue is not yet resolved (yet to get an update though) after it happened for the 2nd time in the morning (around 11am). At this point I thought it wise to calm down and observe the inverter when next it happens rather than be angry, so I stayed put in front of the inverter and watched it.
Few minutes later it happened again this time around I was watching the screen and boom I caught it in the act and it happens to be that the voltages of 2 strings of panels attached to the 2 MPPTs of the inverter exceeded the max 500v of the inverter (string 1 5x Longi 570w panels was pumping 240v+ as at that time while string 2 5x Jinko 625w panels were pushing over 265v both exceeding the 500v max voltage).
As I saw that I quickly switched off string 1 breaker and the inverter stabilized instantly which suggests that the input of the 2 MPPTs are somehow connected in series or something like that as one of the MPPTs can take 500v alone but the 2 MPPTs combined together is still 500v.
No matter what you do, do not exceed the max voltage of your inverter and take not of the tolerance of the VOC of your panels when connecting your panels to your CC or inverter to avoid stories just in case your inverter or CC is not equipped to handle any form voltage spike above the rated max voltage of the inverter or CC.

I totally understand you, when I upgraded my system in November last year I only had Inverter and battery which I installed in December and started using them. I later discovered that I was burning my units charging the battery with grid, so I had channel all my funds to adding panels to the setup and finally became free. jonescosmos: Not a wise expenditure, you will spend more on the long run. When you install an inverter and battery, and light power goes of for 2 hours, traditionally you will switch over to inverter. Ok, you drain 5KWh from your battery before power is restored, your inverter will have to use your Units of 5KWh + Energy used in conversion and powering system components to dump back that 5KWh into the battery (a process we call recharging the battery) so you might end up using up to 7KWh energy to recharge your battery that you drained 5KWh from except you are not paying for the power supply you are getting.
So you see, you took less and paid more.
Solar is the way to go bro, If you ain't doing solar, don't waste your money. This is an advice you may not comprehend right away though. |

This is a high voltage inverter, as such all the panels should be connected in series. A 4mm² cable is ok (at most 6mm²) the 10mm² is unnecessary. Sapiosexuality: High or Low? Attached is a photo of the specifications. And I'm yet to connect the panels so can't tell if it will be series or parallel. |

At NOTC they won't produce up to 11A. However, the inverter can only draw what it needs (current) from the panels as long as you maintain the set max voltage. mctfopt: Those two panels you mentioned have Isc of more than 11A each which will exceed the yeye 5000ES Growatt's maximum PV input current of 22A |

They are both facing the opposite sides of the building (front and back). In the morning the Jinkos gets better sun light as compared to the Longis but the Longi measures up at the peak of the sun (between 12 and 3pm). Yes the 15kwh is battery (DIY EVE LF304Ah or EVE MB31 314Ah cells). They are the Hi-Mo 6. Ok I'll work towards the additional 6 panels as recommended after I get the extra battery. Thank you. jonescosmos: @Bolded: are you referring to the battery?
Is your Longi Panel a Hi-Mo x5 or Hi-Mo x6?
Based on your pictures, your panels are obviously operating @ NOTC or less. So I recommend you add 3x570W Longi on PV1 and 3x625W jinko on PV2 respectively. this should get you around 6000W-6500W which is the Max your 5KW Inverter can do. |

Thank you for your response much appreciated. I currently have 5x 570w Longi on the PV1 and 5x 625w Jinko on the PV2 which are both doing great. Will add to more 2x 570w or 580w Longi and 2x 625w Jinko to the setup as I plan on adding a 15kwh to the already existing 5kwh. jonescosmos: Please note that your 6500W Max PV is the Combined MPPT PV Power, So each of you MPPT is Rated 3250W, manufacturer does not need to spell this out to you
370V is the nominal voltage for each MPPT, of course you can go all the way to 500v PV but don't exceed it by 1V.
Your best practice for your Inverter is for you to run 14x625w Jinko panels in a 7 series on each MPPT setup. Theoretically that should give you 8750w @ STC. But you will get something around NOTC spec of the panels

If the 13A is Imp you should see a higher amps for Isc which is the max the inverter can take in case of a short circuit from the panels. You can get a higher wattage panel like 550w to 580w with VOC lower than 50v and series them up to 10pcs. Please I need your input on Deye inverter specs. Mine is the 5kw with 2 MPPTs, the specs reads; Max PV input power of 6500w. PV input voltage 370vdc (125vdc - 500vdc). PV input current 13Adc + 13Adc. Now I understand that the input current is 13A for both MPPTs but I don't know if same is the case for the input voltage. My question is "is the 370v (125v - 500v) for each of the MPPTs or a combined voltage for both MPPTs"? I want to increase my panels wants to know if I can still add to already existing setup or make provision for an external CC. jonescosmos: What should be of concern to you is the system voltage. JUST DON'T EXCEED YOUR SYSTEM MAX VOLATGE Your System can only draw a max of 10A even if you a have 15A total panel assembly but make sure your MPPT Max Voltage at STC is not exceeded.
Eg. Say you have 450W 12A @ 37.5V Panels And your MPPT spec says: 450V @ 10A, It's very safe to have 10 of this panel in series which will give 375V @ 12A STC, So your MPPT will draw it's 10A complete and the excess will not be of any harm to it.
But in all this, NOTC will reduce these readings for you. At least in Nigeria anyway. |

The fear of Band A, Band B and Band etc is the beginning of wisdom. This Client first said: "just install something that will power my fridge and Lighting points." And I asked him, "Will you be wanting to upgrade this setup someday?" He said maybe. I proposed he should simply go OFF-GRID he said give me quotation, I quoted:
12Kw Deye Inverter 24x625W Jinko, 35KW (2 x 17.5KW) Felicity Lithium
as usual and he screamed and said just install something that will power my fridge and Lighting points that he can add things later and will be supporting the heavy loads and recharge the battery with Nepa for now (I explained and tried to discourage him from doing this till I got tired). We adjusted this quotation so tey we landed on:
8KW Deye 17.5KW Felicity Lithium 3.5KWp Jinko Panels (8x440w)
And we deployed. He was happy, but then the battery will never fill up before sun down, he recharged his Meter as usual 50K (Band A) twice and the credit lasted less than 3 days, He called me back and said: "E be like say that thing wey you been dey try explain to me na true ooo, to charge this battery with Nepa go tear my wallet"
He said Ok let's power the whole house and see So I did something for him, I powered the whole house, Put some ACs the heavy loads on SmartLoad, we switched off the water heater and job done. He tested for 3 days and as soon as the client noticed that the inverter could take all his loads, He called me back and said that we have to upgrade this setup ASAP to power everything house 247. But remember that we had opted for an 8KW instead of 12KW inverter, 440w Panels instead of 625w Panels, 1 unit of 17.5kw Instead of 2 Units. He asked if we can sell the Inverter and Panels to upgrade to the initial quote. I told him that he might not realize the money 100% and he screamed "something wey I never use up to one week? I asked if I should post it online and see, he said no let him contact his friends that knows about Inverters and Solar. He did and in my presence his friends where pricing less than half of what he invested. I asked him again "Make I post am online?" He said "NO NEED, If people wey know me dey price am like this, wetin people wey no know me go come price am" that I should find a way to make this thing work out.
And so I did:
