I don't really know how other CC works but the CC in my inverter actually do regulate the current that goes into the battery, based on the settings and once the battery hits 100%, it only allows power from the panels based on the load currently connected to the inverter.

So if all the settings are programmed right the battery should be ok on the charging aspect.

dacool1:
You do think the CC regulates current flow at the initial stage especially when the battery is depleted? Keep on misleading him. Overtime his charging current would exceed the recommended limit. How do you think some of these batteries become swollen?

Bro you bought panel, CC and battery just to be charging your phone with usb?
Satellite TV TechnologyRe: Solar Energy, A Complement To FTA by Ferdiwar: 8:24pm On Mar 03, 2024
I bought 25meters @50k as the price of things was busy going up and I plan on running 2 strings of panels.

bassdow:
what was the total length you bought, and how much did you spend in total ?
Satellite TV TechnologyRe: Solar Energy, A Complement To FTA by Ferdiwar: 8:20pm On Mar 03, 2024
This can be ok for someone who is on a budget installation.

Before I installed my panels on the roof I was running 3 of my 570w panels with normal 2.5mm house wire to my inverter just by laying the panels on the floor.

But to me it didn't make any atom of sense to spend over 3m to buy inverter, battery and panels only to start cutting cost on wires that is not even up to 100k.

bassdow:
experienced person no go get issue with that. Also, even non-experienced person shouldn't have much issues with that.

That's hardly an issue. Worse case scenerio, you place something on top to cover it BUT I have never done such becase the coating is more than enough

I don't think most of the rechargeable fans have good chargers built in them which is why the batteries fail often.

Since you are using solar, I will suggest you forget about replacing the battery and run the fans like that. That's how I've been running mine since I went solar.

jikaseo:
Yea, I've got 3 batteries at 3 different occasions and they all didn't even last one week. They sell fake and I'm tired of wasting money.
Satellite TV TechnologyRe: Solar Energy, A Complement To FTA by Ferdiwar: 12:13pm On Mar 02, 2024
At 11am my battery is already full or at 97% with about 300w load connected to it.

Please who knows how to use this timer socket?
I'd like to be able to set it to come on when the sun comes up,say 11am and go off 3pm everyday.

It's ok, mine doesn't that too and the blueish color is more pronounced when there's liquid on it.

kristien4:
I bought a solar panel today..jinko panel from fouani, looking at the panel from one angle, a cell is slightly blueish in color instead of the normal black, is that a reason to worry?
Satellite TV TechnologyRe: Solar Energy, A Complement To FTA by Ferdiwar: 8:22pm On Feb 13, 2024
I currently use 5 pieces of Longi 570w panels, before I mounted them on my roof I was using 3 of it by laying it flat on the floor, I was only getting around 400w from the 3 panels.
I later adjusted it by tilting it by around 10 degrees and my yield increased to around 800w.

By mid January I finally mounted the 5 panels on the roof and the very 1st week my panels was generating a little above 2.2kw.

Currently I'm getting max of 1.5kw because of the dusty weather.

So I believe 1 of the reasons for your poor yield is how you lay the panel and 2 the dusty weather.

easyyoke:
Nice. It is Jinko 550w own I got from Foauni but my yield is just like 50% of what the panel should produce. Everybody is saying it is currently because of the weather. Are you still getting that 2730watt this period? Or your yield has dropped.
Satellite TV TechnologyRe: Solar Energy, A Complement To FTA by Ferdiwar: 11:40pm On Jan 27, 2024
It depends on the parameters of your system (the charge controller and the battery).

JoeSef0:
I have a question people.
5 12w 180w solar panels to be connected in series to get 24v
How'd you go about the connection
Remember i need 2 panel's to make 24v
Satellite TV TechnologyRe: Solar Energy, A Complement To FTA by Ferdiwar: 11:33pm On Jan 27, 2024
Did you take note of the PV voltage when it was generating the 12amps?.

If yes what was the voltage?, If no try and note the PV voltage when it's current is @ 12amps or so.

I have a feeling your panels are connected in series and not parallel, hence the reason for the figures you got.

kristien4:
Hello..can someone help me clear my doubts. I have 3 580w solar panel connected in parallel.. each panel is rated 13amps... thats 39amps. But my pv current shows 12amps and battery charging current 33amps. Isnt the pv current supposed to be higher than 12amps ,. And how does a pv produce 12amp and battery is being charged with 33amps...?? Please help me understand

Nice one, wanted getting the Jinko 475w initially but went for higher wattage to reduce the numbers of panels on the roof.

How do one identify a battery that has an active balancer from factory?

sintolord:
Enjoy your new upgraded battery. What was happening before was, the cells were not balanced. One cell could be fully charged while another cell could be 50% charged. When you start discharging, once the cell that probably was 50% charged is discharged to 10%, the BMS will shutdown to protect that cell. Mind you, other cells are still probably 50, 60 or 70% charged. This scenario above is why you were unable to fully charge or discharge your battery to 10%. This is where the battery balancer comes in & correct the voltage difference between the battery cells
Satellite TV TechnologyRe: Solar Energy, A Complement To FTA by Ferdiwar: 5:00pm On Jan 07, 2024
Start by confirming if your batteries get to full charge before 4pm as the loads listed pulls close to if not more than 350w (including the inverter self consumption of about 70w for 5kw).

I don't think you should be expecting 18hrs usage time from your setup unless you're including the day time usage from the panels.

jikaseo:
Hello house, I have a 5kva/24v felicity inverter, a 60A PowMr solar charge controller, two Vitra 12v220a tubular batteries and four 300W panels. I noticed that using with from around 11am with my freezer, TV and two fans, the system goes off before 9pm even when I put off the freezer before 4pm. I expected to have at least 18hrs with this setup which is less than 3months old, but I'm disappointed with the results. I intend to add two more 300w panels, please would this help increase how much supply time I get from this system? Any advise will be welcomed.

For system with a separate CC, assuming your panels are generating 1kw of power and your load is 400w, the CC will push the 1kw directly to the battery and at same time the inverter will pull 400w from the battery leaving only 600w going into the battery for charging, same goes with the hybrid inverters so in both cases if the generated power is not enough to cater for the charging of the battery and at same time power your loads your battery will suffer.

I currently enjoy the working without battery feature on mine as I switch of the battery during the day to conserve the battery for night use when there's no grid power, so the inverter only comes on during the day when the grid power is restored.

When on solar panels my inverter comes on but will only output power when the generated power from the panels are greater than the load.

kristien4:
I have a serious dilemma.i want to do an upgrade,Im confused between buying a growatt 5kva hybrid inverter or a 120amp growatt charge controller. My cause of confusion is this. This growatt inverter can work without batteries, and secondly even while working with battery, can power the household load directly from the the solar panels during sunlight, while the reamaining power charges the battery. My question is can the external charge controller offset house load while charging batteries at thesame time? Pls i will appreciate a response..
Satellite TV TechnologyRe: Solar Energy, A Complement To FTA by Ferdiwar: 4:28pm On Dec 31, 2023
Fake Jinko 140k for 575w
Original Jinko 166k for 555w
Original Longi 165k for 555w but I got the 570w for same price (as against 180k) as offered me a discount on the panels if I get them from them when I bought my inverter.

EduTechTainMent:
What were the rates quoted for both fake and original jinko and longline panels pls. That would also help prospective buyers. Thanks.
Satellite TV TechnologyRe: Solar Energy, A Complement To FTA by Ferdiwar: 3:32pm On Dec 31, 2023
Yes I know Xtra power have their name engraved into the panels, though the Longi I got has its name engraved on the cables and the 3 connection boxes at the back.

Obnoxious2001:
It's easy to spot fake jinko solar panels.
It's one thing to be involved in solar panel, it's another thing to be involved in the business of solar panels.

Some solar panels, have their names embedded into it.. this is one major way to tell the difference aside from the stickers.
Satellite TV TechnologyRe: Solar Energy, A Complement To FTA by Ferdiwar: 8:31am On Dec 31, 2023
I was shocked too.
I got to know this when I was in the market for panels and reached out to Coscharis Technologies for Jinko panels, when I told the lady that their price for 555w was way higher than what I was offered for the 575w in alaba that was when she asked me to request for the S/N of the panels they offered let her verify if it's the original or fake, well my shock was shocked with the outcome.

I ended up getting the Longi as they only had the 555w in stock and I personally verified all the panels from Longi website before leaving with the panels.

mctfopt:
For real? Didn't know they are into Jinko now. I always get from authorised dealers.
Satellite TV TechnologyRe: Solar Energy, A Complement To FTA by Ferdiwar: 12:31am On Dec 31, 2023
The lighting strikes will probably end with the inverter as those electronic components will get fired easily before the strike will get to the battery.

lovediehatelive:
Why do I keep having that imagination that the battery will explode when hit by lightning
Satellite TV TechnologyRe: Solar Energy, A Complement To FTA by Ferdiwar: 12:22am On Dec 31, 2023
You'll be amazed by level of the quantities of fake Jinko panels in Nigeria now and I fear it will surpass the original ones soon as the demand for Jinko panels are increasing daily.

mctfopt:
First tier include the following, note all of them have also "Alaba levels" (fake types):

1) Jinko

2) Canadian Solar

3) Trina Solar Panels

4) Longi

5) JA Solar

6) Era Solar

7) Yingli

Etc

Look for the real dealers to avoid buying "label" as they often refer to the fake types. Beware of 'labels" when buying Canadian and Trina Solar panels. Alaba vendors have a particular fixation in faking these two panels.

Good luck.
Satellite TV TechnologyRe: Solar Energy, A Complement To FTA by Ferdiwar: 5:34pm On Dec 27, 2023
10mm for 800w is an over kill.
4mm is ok for it especially if you're doing more of voltage than current.
Some inverters manufacturers are more doing inverters with higher PV voltage and less current with recommendations of 4mm from the Solar panels to the inverter.

Drgreatone:
I av come again with my curiosity. How do u determine the wire guage from solar panel to charge controller. Gone through different sites and seeing different recommendation. Someone recommended 10mm for use wit 800watts panel that 4mm wud be too small yet google gave a max volt/amps of 1000/36 for a 4mm double core wire. Distance is about 5 to 6m. Thank you for ur kind responses

It might be hard to clown it as most known inverters recongises it automatically once you plug the comms cable.

I would've posted the pictures but NL is not allowing me to do that.
