Can the client share a screenshot of the charge settings?

This post is for educational purposes..

As a Customer service person, I support several brand now.
So a Customer reached out this yesterday and his inverter was showing 24.6V with 58% SOC on the battery.

To an average User, Our Client has 58% why is inverter showing low Voltage warning, was scared that something is wrong and turned off everything

So according to our client Sun has been poor and battery has not been charging well, So we checked the voltages and told our client your batteries are close to dead, but how do we explain this when battery is showing SOC at 58%..

So we explained LFP voltage curve blablabla. Client was convinced but not fully.

Fast forward to today.

Out of curiosity we received the video of the battery now at 100% but still charging at ~12.8A.

Upon inspection we saw average Voltage at 3.34 means this battery cannot be at 100% it just BMS fooling itself.

So we explained that Flat voltage curve of LFP and informed the client that the Battery will be Fully charged when the average cell voltage is at 3.45 and above and the charging current is Zero Amp.

Client now fully understand the whole LFP Curve and BMS drift.

Well I've loaded my 5kw HF inverter above 4kw on several occasions.

As at this night self it was loaded up to 4.9kw while boiling water with it.

For me the best charge voltage and current is according to the battery specs on the battery as there's no one size fits all type of charge profile.

I can see we're all concerned about battery charging voltage/current.

Can someone enlighten us on the best voltage and current to charge different types of battery chemistry?

It's not about how many amps CC you use but how well the charging profile is set for your batteries.

Tubular batteries requires 3 stage charging with different voltages and current and equalization at some point (try reading up the charge profile of tubular batteries or check the specs of the one you're using).

If you charge them incorrectly you will end up either undercharging them or cooking them.

Now, should I get 100A CC to replace the 60A CC since I am not upgrading the batteries now or I should stick with the 60A for now

The 3 are all tier 1 panels, you can't go wrong with any of them just make sure you buy from a reputable dealer especially Canadian solar panels.

I'm currently using Longi and Jinko.

Laying your panels flat on a roof is an easy lifehack until they start hitting 80°C.

There's an almost 200mv deviation from the highest and lowest cells which is not really good. Try to limit the LCD to 3v/cell and monitor the performance at a higher charge of say 3.3v to 3.45v and see how it goes.

But try and return it for them to check and fix it.

Not just those 2 model at all.. Will advice ppl to stay away from sako for now.. I have been having issues with their inverter and battery.. . One of the cell in their battery is very low.. Been asking for solution how to balance it but nothing is forth coming.. The inverter itself have been giving issues since the day of Instllation.. That was early Nov 2024 less than 3 mths ago.. Now battery is no longer balance. I was told i need a load to lower the high voltage, which i know nothing abt.. I dont build battery. For the last 3days now they stopped responding to messages.
I asked for their service center in Lagos so that i can send it for repair still no reply at all.. Items of less than 3mths and the customer is messaging me every single day.. Always on my neck.. 6.2kva paired with 10kwh battery.
Anyone with solution should kindly help me out abeg.. 🙏 🙏 🙏

Well let's say that lithium is fairly new to some people and our engineers are more of generic process rather than actually trying to understand the process and that.

Irrespective of the brand or technology one must definitely experience issues. When I joined this page lead acid battery was the trend and I can remember the series of issues people had then and the recommendations, and suggestions of which the main topic then was charging profiles including equalization and all that.

How many installers (engineers) knows how to properly set the charging profiles for the respective inverters and lithium batteries they install?. This is one of the major reason for most of the issues that arises from these installations.

So technically on this thread since the past 2yrs, we have actually had more complaint on lithium batteries than on lead.

Most lead complaint has always been issue around charging and tubular is taking the lead in that category, obviously poor design and consideration are the causes.

For lithium battery e choke, a lot of SNR men done pass through the needle eyes in the hands of this battery.

Sadly the 4.2kw is a name plate and not the actual capacity of the inverter.

2ndly the Sako is on the lower tier and can't be expected to perform at par with the higher tier, so when doing a low budget installations try to oversize the inverter (eg. Use a 5kw for a 3kw setup).

It is a 4.2kw not 3kw. Our other 3.5kw inverter powers our air fryer. The brand has a quality issue. Plus an air fryer is not an inductive load

Active balancer is not a plug and play.

You'll have to do the connection of the lead wires to the cells.

Note that the 3kva sarchet inverter is just a continuous 1.5kw inverter.

I believe the BMS of the battery is dead or has completely shutdown to preserve the cells.

Can't you replace the BMS with JK or JBD and see it the battery will come to life.

Or better still hook the battery to the Felicity inverter and see if the inverter will wake the battery up.

I had exactly the same issue with the same model of battery and SAKO 3kw 24V Inverter alongside 8pcs of 450W Jinko Panels, at nights the battery discharges like it's in a competition, The SAKO Inverter and Battery both refused to obey cut-off points and as such the battery discharges beyond DOD, I thought when day breaks and the sun comes up, the inverter will wake the battery up, but it didn't, client used GEN and NEPA to try to charge the battery, yet no power.

This horrible experience went on for days until I replaced the Inverter and Battery with Felicity IVEM 3KW and 5KWh Felicity Lithium Battery.
Now everything is up and running and the SAKO Battery and Inverter are both laying fallow in my garage.

Regrettably several other people have reported similar issues with SAKO products.

PLEASE STAY AWAY FROM THESE 2 MODELS OF SAKO BATTERY & INVERTER

I've been using my Prag 5kva wall mount stab since 2020 and it has been a bliss.

i dont trust wall stabs, they are way lighter in weight compared to normal units of same capacity. That clicking sound is the relays, while servo stabs uses a different mechanism, kinda mechanical . Google the differences. I intend buying the qasa 10kva normal unit, weighs 65kg, while prag 15kva wall unit weighs 30kg. That difference dey surprise me..

If the BMS came with a battery pack reach out to the seller/builder of the battery pack.

But if you got the BMS separately consider reaching the store for the password change chances are it was changed from 1234

My findings is that my Felicity MPPT is not set well, I believe. The controller reads my battery as full, whereas the PWM keeps charging it because I was able to set it better.

My panels are 3parrallel connection of 200watts panels. It’s a LifePo4 battery. I am not just getting the settings of my MPPT controller yet. Can you help?

Especially with the Absorbtion voltage and Float voltage. It’s not like I don’t know these things I have set the values appropriately (14.4V and 13.6V respectively) but they didn’t help. I have tweaked in a lot of ways but still experiencing the same thing.

So what I do now like I saw someone here do too, was use the MPPT to charge it fast to that point where it will no longer charge the battery, and then continue charging with PWM for full charge and then connect back to MPPT for proper voltage regulation. This is what I’ll keep doing till I get it right.

But I’ll really appreciate if you can help me as well as I have seen you have such a vast knowledge on these things. Thanks.

It got it name from its ability to work or move anywhere, you can use it even on the glass

I use some power tools (excluding the circular saw) and they are all cordless and so far I'll say that the wired ones are way better as they are more powerful and packs more torque.

For commercial use get a wired one and set up the inverter as intended.

3kva to 5kva inverter will handle it well.

Size the battery and panels based on your need.

Bros do you use any of this tools, cos the carpenter and furniture people I've been interviewing here are saying the battery power circular cutting machine doesn't last. Tho I'll have a my solar system on standby.

Another disadvantage of the the battery powered is that it'll be close to impossible to under table mount it

I will run my AC at night for some hours with your battery size.

I run my ACs from 9am when my battery charges to 75% to 5pm (on a good sunny day) as my battery is for light night usage and early morning boiling of water.

If I run AC, that thing that consumes 1kwh, by morning won't it finish my 14kwh battery? Except i run it for like 6 hours at night only.

But truth be said, during the day the panels are wasting coz after charging at 4kwh from solar, once its filled up at 10am, it reduces to 400w which is all I use during the day. Over 3kwh from solar that could handle AC is just wasting.

To consider again is, do you think it'll stress the 5kva felicity inverter?

Mine has been great with its cooling and I can not complain.

Moreover I'm not trying to freeze the people in the house

What I have heard is that the inverter ACs are not as good in terms of cooling.
