VIDEO: ‘This Wasn’t The Plan’ — Grief-Stricken Wife Of Late Pilot Olufade Wails By Nneoma Benson - May 23 Palpable sorrow and misery hung in the air during the funeral of 11 Nigerian military officers who died in an aircraft that crashed on Friday in Kaduna State. All passengers aboard the ill-fated aircraft perished, including the country’s Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Ibrahim. The atmosphere at the funeral ground on Saturday looked heavy with unspoken words even though the sun shone brightly. “This was not the plan,” the young wife of FLT LT Olufade Ayodimeji Alfred, the pilot who flew the doomed aircraft, could be heard saying and wailing as the remains of her late husband was being reposed.
Grief lingered all over her face and one could feel the heaviness of sorrow weighted on her as she held Alfred’s portrait close to her chest. She apparently did not foresee herself becoming a widow barely three months after marrying Alfred. The late pilot’s father, George Olufade, told THE WHISTLER at the funeral ground that he had already taken solace in God, but prayed for God to console his only son’s wife and family. “…as a Christian, God gives and God takes, glory be to his name. I only pray for God to console the wife, console my wife, console my entire family and hold us strong because his name is double happiness — Ayo tun dimeji. He is my only son,” he said struggling to hold his tears. Mr Olufade revealed that his late son had always called him to seek his prayers whenever he was to fly an aircraft, but said the last trip that claimed his life was different. “Each time he is flying, he tells me, “daddy I am going to fly, bend down and start praying,” but this last one, he didn’t tell me but God knows better. It has not been my prayers that kept him. He (God) gave me Ayodimeji and he is taking him,” Olufade had said while seated in a Siena bus awaiting the arrival of his son’s remains at the National Military Cemetery in Abuja. He and his wife appeared in all-white attire, as they received condolences from families around. I really appreciate your advice but the thing is that you don't get the full picture because I didn't go into details. The school fees was increased when we were already in school. I did not want to go to another school and start from scratch because I really don't believe in school I was begged and persuaded by my family, including her to go to university because my jamb score was insanely high that time. The thing is that all the people who stood by me then and supported me are all completely dependent on me now and I feel I'm too young for that kind of weight so I'm having a serious conflict between my conscience and common sense. I can't leave my family so that's completely out of the question.Thank God that people depend on you and you can actually help them, its a privilege. On the girl, if you think you can't cope anymore, politely explain things to her and do the ones u can leaving out the ones u can't. |
Toroso:You are pathetic really. |
Kingosytex:U go get sense |

NIGERIA: THE WAY FORWARD Nigeria is better as one indivisible country, she is most times referred to, by other African countries and so many world countries, as 'the giant of Africa' it is a nomenclature but it holds up to the opinion that Nigeria has all it takes to actually be the giant of Africa. Nigeria is the most populous black nation in the world, the home to the conglomeration of probably the most number of ethnic nationalities as can be found anywhere in the world. amongst this vast human resources, it is also blessed with various mineral resources that litters its vast land mass. also, it has many hectares of arable lands which is capable of producing the food that is needed for its survival and even produce more than enough for export that will fetch considerable revenue to compliment or even supersede what comes from the mineral resources. These attributes are rare, they are not easily found anywhere in the world. they are what makes Nigeria great, they are the potential which other country have seen in Nigeria that made them to tag it 'the giant of Africa' However, there is another dimension to these indices, the reality part, unfortunately. Nigeria has for long now been very promising and very good on papers but have not translated as such to realities, the people still wallow in poverty and hunger when they can comfortably feed themselves had things been done right. They still live in darkness when they can comfortable light up their country had the leaders been patriotic, the youths still dwell in joblessness while there are a lot of potentials left completely untapped, the infrastructural decay going from bad to worse with what was put in place when the leadership was right decaying by the day. Nigeria has virtually become a failed state where nothing seems to be working, price of goods and services shoot up on daily basis and they do not acknowledge the presence of gravitational force, they go up and never comes down, the citizens have become so traumatized that they don't even recognize that they are traumatised anymore, it has become a hopeless situation to many and possibly to the country in general, things have gone from bad to worse without any improvement in sight. Nigeria has virtually been reduced to exactly the opposite of what it is been referred to as (the giant of Africa) creating a blatant oxymoron anywhere it is suggested. This state of decadence and decent into what will ultimately lead to a failed state, in which, in a matter of time, will degenerate into a chaotic ungoverned and crime infested society due to the realities on ground, will not be what most of us young Nigerians would want to leave for our children, they certainly will curse us for bringing them into here. Overtime many things have been suggested as the cankerworms eating of the vegetable. it is sometimes suggested that it is the diverse ethnic affiliations that make up Nigeria that holds it down through the unending bickering between them. It is at other times suggested that the diverse religiosity which cuts across Muslims and Christians that is responsible for the degradation and lack of forward movement. at these times there is what Nigerians, especially the young generation have not asked, who is making these suggestions? well, they have always been suggested by the so called leaders, ironically they (the leaders) are actually the real reason while Nigeria has been on reverse gear and speeding down the sloppy lane. Those we call leaders today in this country are the cog in the wheel of forward movement in Nigeria and the accelerator in the reverse movement. they are inhuman and think zero percent about the future, they do not care about what the country is or what it will be become, they only care about their status and work round the clock to make it change proof, i.e. they amass wealth in other to keep living in affluence which is their only goal in the first place. Like serfs and their land owners they manipulate the masses, closing their eyes to their inhuman atrocities, they do this through various ways; first, they throw crumbs to the poor masses, who taste the life, but only a glimpse and swear allegiance with them foolishly offering their lives in some occasions to sustain their master's status. Secondly, they whip up the ethnic differences, turning the masses against each other and taking their attention away from the real cause of the problem which is bad leadership furthermore if ethnic incitement seems weak they bring in religious intolerance to further destabilise the masses and make sure none of them thinks straight. but amidst all this, the so called leaders are united in their crimes, they appear in different political parties for the purpose of still confusing the masses, but they still have everything in common with their affluence, they work together to keep it that way with everyone on both divide playing their part well in other to further hypnotise the masses, who forget their problem and keep on dancing to the tune played by the fraudulent leaders who have same evil agenda wherever they are found. Politicians when found in countries that are focused on growth are gifts from God, servants and blessing to their people. they represent the people and does everything in their power to better the lives of their people which will also include them. this is exactly what Nigeria lacks, our politicians from the lowest ranked to the highest ranked, they have all faulted on this and only succeeded in perpetuating themselves in power and affluence and luxurious living. it can't be stressed enough that multi ethnicity and sectarianism are not the bane of development in Nigeria, rather bad leadership is the greatest problem that has bedevilled Nigeria and many other African countries for that matter. we need political hygiene, borrowing the words of Prof. Lumumba, Nigeria needs political hygiene where the leaders will have the clarity of mind in other to understand the meaning of leadership and probably begin to apply it. sadly, however, it is almost 'all hope lost' with the current crop of leaders in today's Nigeria, they have been lost too deep into the woods , I sincerely doubt they will find their way back. the only hope for Nigeria and Africa as a whole is to begin to educate their younger generation on the need to embrace political hygiene, the sense of the future which makes you act right in the present. mind change amongst the youth needs to be planted on them (the youths), there can hardly be any success without hard work we must understand that for us to prosper we must embrace hard work, honesty of purpose and a focused plan towards growth devoid of any form of corrupt practices. we must teach the younger ones not to be lazy like the current leadership. they only take the easy money from crude and ignore unimaginable quality of potentials that will transform the country and its people within a short time if explored. conclusively, we call on all the youths to understand that tomorrow's Nigeria might not have this current crop of leadership in it, and their actions has had its result, it failed and we must not follow that path again we must purify our politics and build this country for us and for our children. for the umpteenth time, I must stress it again, that religion and ethnicity are not the problem of Nigeria but a tool in the hands of the leaders which they use to turn the masses against each other and turn them away from various atrocities that they commit which stagnate this country. stand up Nigerian youths! stand up and purify your leadership and things will start moving forward. |
Have you checked why she was honest to you? Our past don't always determine our future. I think you mean something to the girl for her to be that hones. She may really want a change. |
