oilykid:
It's all about politics. The only way APC will retain power is to hand it to South South candidate. This would make them win votes from SS/SE and even SW (they wouldn't have any practical option). The only moral place to cede the ticket is SE but this is politics, the party is not strong there. SW has no moral right to ask for presidency now but they have positioned themselves well for the ticket. The truth is that no single region can win presidency. Voting blocks in Nigeria remains North/SE-SS/SW. Any of the two combined would defeat the third.
The SW media wing is actually pushing Igbos to demand for presidency from PDP and Igbos shouldn't fall for this. Reason is this, apart from the bad blood caused by IPOB, APC is the incumbent party. Why would APC Kaduna leave APC candidate to vote for PDP SE candidate. A SW presidency means a longer wait for SE (16years).

The political move SE can make now is to join forces with Northern PDP and win 2023. Build bridges and position themselves for 2031. Be ready to get jabs on nairaland from SW that Igbos are only good for vice presidency or are Fulani slaves. Don't be moved by these. That's the only solution and Yorubas played it in 2015. A Yoruba candidate wouldn't have stood a chance against any SS/SE candidate of PDP in 2015 as the incumbent party would have deployed their machinery to crush them. They wouldn't also stand a chance if PDP is incumbent party in 2031 with an Igbo presidential candidate.

This is the truth an Igbo with his emotional part wouldn't want to hear or a cunny Yoruba wouldn't want people to know.
You are on point

Nairaland GeneralPart 1: Story of My Experience In Niger State IDPs. Scary, But Why Not? by Fidelarinze9(op): 5:29pm On Feb 07, 2022
Awodo Sale is only 8 years and had just started attending a primary school in a community near Kaure, his home town in Shiroro Local Government of Niger State until Boko Haram terrorists sacked the community in 2019 and hoisted their flag. His parents were among residents who managed to escape the brutality of the terrorists and fled to Gwada, where the state government established a camp for displaced persons.

Sale is among the 2,011 children now living as refugees in the camp with no access to any form of education. There are no schools to accommodate all the displaced children as primary school classrooms had been converted to hostels to accommodate IDPs.

Records at the Gwada camp, which is one of the two biggest camps in the state, showed that only 32 children currently attend school due to lack of space.

But Sale, like thousands of other children, is not lucky to be among the 32 child refugees currently going to school in the state. Instead, he and others are being used by their parents to earn income to enable them to feed and afford basic necessities, having been abandoned by their state and local governments.

The eight-year-old looked distraught and lost in his dirty and torn clothes when THE WHISTLER met him at the camp.

“If I wake up I go to work or farm because I’m not going to school like other children,” he said in his Gwari dialect, pointing at the school nearby. “But if there’s no work or farm I will be at home. If I have a sponsor I will like to go back to school.”

But Sale may never have the opportunity to go back to school and acquire western education. He seemed condemned to join the growing number of out-of-school children in the state as terrorists continue their advance and carve more territories in the state and other parts of the north.

The latest official figure from the State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB) shows that a total of 513,689 children were out of school in the state as of 2018. That figure must have gone further up since 2019 when terrorists entered the state.

Children in the IDP camps in the state, as young as 6 years, engage in farming for survival. Others sell edibles made by their parents during the day. The female children are quickly married off to escape the dreary life at the camps.

Parents’ Burden
Mary, a 65-year-old widow whose husband was killed by terrorists who invaded Kaure in 2019, sat on the concrete floor of a classroom turned dormitory for refugees at the Gwada camp, dejected. She seemed to wear her worries on her face, which accentuated the gloom on her wrinkled face.

She struggled to recall what brought her to the IDP camp from her ancestral home of Kaure—a farming community in Shiroro. The community is now under terrorists’ control and she seemed to push back tears as she recollected what happened.

Her husband was killed in April 2019 when terrorists attacked their farmland, demanded and carted away food produce, razed houses and killed many, causing them to flee. Other residents also fled. The terrorists subsequently hoisted Boko Haram flag in Kaure.

Over 2,800 residents from several communities, majorly from Madaka, Masuku and Zongoro were similarly displaced by the terrorists. They all found some refuge in the peaceful town of Gwada, where the state government established an IDP camp for persons fleeing from terrorists.

AnonPoet:
How a loan app wiped out my account and left me broke

See me see trouble o! one loan app in this country, (I will not mention their name yet) has wiped my entire life savings and they have left me dead broke. Around early February this year my friend told me about a business that i can invest in and get good profit by the end of the year. Usual na, I got excited about the project and I had to make sure I hustle the money anyway, anyhow; that was how I remember that I saw one advert on facebook, so I went to the Facebook page and I copied the WhatsApp number from the page. Naso it start o! they asked me to register, write my mothers name, my office even collect my BVN and card details join!! Haba! I should have known.

I took the loan even with the high interest because I didn't have a choice and guy man gats make sweet cash. The 1st instalment i paid, 2nd instalment i delayed for 2 days...honestly no be my fault i even tried reaching out to them for small time more but no one answered. That's how the 3rd instalment came these loan app cleared all my account o! They removed all the money in my account claiming they couldn't be patient anymore! I've called & called but they didn't answer me! Next thing their representatives dey insult me!

Guys, I want to know what to do o! Is this how all loan apps do? they will shame you and suck your account dry? Abeg people talk o! what can I do?

Which decent loan apps can one use in the future?

1. FairMoney
2. Carbon
3. RenMoney

Which off these three is recommended abeg?
Advert scope by fairmoney, we can still see through it. All the loan apps are going to compound your financial issues rather than solve them.
Avoid all of them including the so called fairmoney

CrimeInvestigation Shows FCT Police Patrol Teams Fuel Vehicles With Personal Fund by Fidelarinze9(op): 10:51am On Dec 10, 2021
If you have ever cringed at the sight of police operatives collecting money from motorists or levying complainants, you may do well to direct your anger at the Federal Government and authorities at the Nigerian Police Force.

THE WHISTLER recently embedded with a police patrol team in the Federal Capital Territory and saw how operatives are forced to protect residents at the detriment of their own welfare.

The reporter was allowed to embed after promising not to reveal the name of the police division and the identities of members of the patrol team.

The reporter joined the patrol team that took off from the divisional headquarters around 11 am with four armed policemen led by an assistant superintendent of police.

The team drove through its Area of Concentration in the city to perform security surveillance. The team told the reporter they are officers of the Patrol and Guard, the unit that conducts patrol throughout the 24 hours of a day, every day.

To start the Toyota Hilux vehicle, the driver (a sergeant), had to connect two wires before revving it into life. It was a well-used vehicle without air-conditioning system or radio. The driver and passenger seats were badly damaged with the foam spilling out.

The vehicle was not in good condition for an emergency operation. “We have had several cases during midnight patrol when we tried to chase a criminal or respond to an emergency, and we couldn’t kick off immediately,” the driver said after seeing how surprised the reporter was.

AS we drove through the patrol’s jurisdiction, the vehicle made cracking noise which was ignored by the occupants because it was a familiar sound. Then we got to a place designated as “dark spot” where crimes such as phone or bag theft, car-snatching or burglary and other forms of robberies are common.

The vehicle stopped at the roadside for a few minutes, allowing the operatives survey the scene for threats to security. This is what the team does daily, stopping here and there to assess situations and intervene to prevent crime or breakdown of order.

Like when a car trying to make a U-Turn collided with a motorcycle rider who was in a hurry. The situation had caused a mild gridlock. The car owner was surrounded by the rider’s colleagues when the team got there.

The police intervened, resolved the conflict and dispersed the crowd.

The vehicles moved slowly out of the scene in continuation of surveillance. After about 250 metres, the patrol slowed and the vehicle moved to a stop by the roadside close to another dark spot. It was time to conduct “stop-and-search.”

An officer revealed the team had recovered “guns, cutlasses and stolen cars” through such random searches.

When the operation proceeded again, we had spent nearly an hour and the vehicle was running out of fuel. The driver spoke to the team leader about it and everyone was asked to contribute money. The officers, except the driver, raised N4,000 to buy fuel from a Total Filling Station before the patrol continued.

When asked whether the station did not provide money for fuel, members of the team said the division, like others, does not receive any funding for vehicle maintenance and fuel, and every station has to source funds.

“We spend nothing less than N3000 to N4000 daily and an average of N90,000 monthly to fuel this vehicle. Even when we receive an order for joint operation with another Division, we will still fuel it ourselves,” an officer explained.

Fidelarinze9:
THE WHISTLER

Suspected herdsmen recently invaded the family house of one Zipporah Ahgu in Lafia, Nasarawa State, where her sister and two-year-old baby were abducted.

The assailants, numbering five, who were reportedly armed with “knives, machetes and 2 Ak47 guns”, invaded the low-fenced residence at about 00:26 am on September 21, after breaking through the door.

Ahgu, who resides in Abuja with her family, narrated the incident to THE WHISTLER in a phone conversation.

“It all happened on Tuesday, September 21 at about 00.26 am just after midnight, I received a call from my youngest sister that Fulani gunmen had broken into my mum’s house. Five of them kidnapped my sister with her 2-year-old baby.

“I couldn’t ask questions because my sister was crying and highly traumatized. She was the one that was first picked but she escaped after a long fight.

“By the time she got help and came back, our other sister and her baby had been kidnapped. The men were five in number with knives, machetes and 2 Ak47 guns,” she told THE WHISTLER.

Ahgu disclosed that the kidnappers whipped her sister as they journeyed from one local government to another, through bushes and rivers on foot, before she was finally allowed to go at about 4 am the same day.
