Nowenuse:If the traditional attires most of Nigeria wears was adopted post world war II then its not advanced, culture works the other way around, for example, some of ethiopian cultures were pretty advanced long time ago.... Cultures exists very much in Kenya, maybe not as much as some would like but every society is different, just because you do it in a certain way doesnt mean its the only way... For example, The founding father of Tanzania promoted unity of language, as a result, Tanzanian did away with 80% of indeginous language and traditional cultures in favor of Swahili..... Tanzania is as African as Africa can get. Today Tanzania is one of the most peaceful countries in Africa... While countries like Nigeria and Kenya still fight along ethnic and tribal lines........ It is a misconception that large ethnic groups don't promote their cultures, the minority ethnic tribes work extra hard to promote their cultures because they see the big tribes already dominating in every aspect of art, music and culture...So the minority groups take promoting their cultures extra serious, some tribes in Kenya are too small they are on the verge of going extinct! In the big cities the main ethnic tribes usually have annual music and food festivals like Luo night(ohangla music), Mughithi for Kikuyus, I have forgoten the nake for kalenjin, there is also Mulembe night for Kambas... and many more... Anyway Here is a Kikuyu traditional wedding attire

genieluv:Meanwhile as we continue to Laugh out loud... 25% of all new skyscrapers under construction in the whole continent of 55 countries are in Nairobi,Kenya https://www.bdcnetwork.com/ctbuh%E2%80%99s-tall-building-predictions-2017?_e_pi_=7%2CPAGE_ID10%2C3499114318 - Nairobi solidifies its emergence as Africa’s premier skyscraper hub as construction starts on Hass Tower in Nairobi – the first supertall to begin construction in Africa. Nairobi is in the midst of a skyscraper building boom, accounting for almost a quarter of all active high-rise construction in Africa – far outpacing any other comparable cities.Adding to that will be the Hass complexwhen it starts construction in September. The two-tower project will break a number of records, featuring Kenya’s two tallest buildings, Africa’s first supertall tower, and two of the three tallest buildings on the continent. Its construction will solidify Nairobi’s emergence as Africa’s primary skyscraper city. -------- Lets get back to laughing as we let that one sink in |

Those indicators that show progress that is more open and more investments towards that goal, that is what happens just before you start seeing the results...and we already see the results..... News Just in NAIROBI, Kenya, Jul 27 – Kenya has been ranked the third most innovative country in sub-Saharan Africa. The United Nations’ Global Innovation Index 2017 places Kenya third after South Africa and Mauritius. The index which is in its 10th edition surveys some 130 economies using dozens of metrics, from patent filings to education spending providing decision makers a high-level look at the innovative activity that increasingly drives economic and social growth. According to the report, sub-Saharan Africa draws its highest scores in institutions and market sophistication. “Since 2012, sub-Saharan Africa has counted more “innovation achiever” countries than any other region. Kenya, Rwanda, Mozambique, Uganda, Malawi, Madagascar and Senegal stand out for being innovation achievers this year, and several times in the previous years,” the survey indicates. Globally, Switzerland leads the ranking for the seventh consecutive year, followed by Sweden, the Netherlands, the USA and the UK. Kenya is ranked number 80 globally, outperforming her development- level peers. China is the exception at 22, in 2016; China became the first-ever middle-income economy in the top 25. Israel continues to cement its status as a leader of global innovation according to the index. For the seventh consecutive year, Israel topped the innovation index’s category for northern Africa and western Asia. The Jewish state ranked 17th overall in the report’s group of high-income countries, improving its standing by four places from 2016. The Global Innovation Index 2017 is co-published by Cornell University, INSEAD, and the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO, a specialized agency of the United Nations). “Efforts to bridge the innovation divide have to start with helping emerging economies understand their innovation strengths and weaknesses and create appropriate policies and metrics,” said Soumitra Dutta, Dean, Cornell SC Johnson College of Business, Cornell University. The theme of the GII 2017, “Innovation Feeding the World,” looks at innovation carried out in agriculture and food systems. Over the next decades, the agriculture and food sector will face an enormous rise in global demand and increased competition for limited natural resources. In addition, it will need to adapt to and help mitigate climate change. Innovation is key to sustaining the productivity growth required to meet this rising demand and to helping enhance the networks that integrate the sustainable food production, processing, distribution, consumption, and waste management known as food systems. “We are already witnessing the rapid, worldwide emergence of ‘digital agriculture,’ which includes drones, satellite-based sensors, and field robotics,” said Bruno Lanvin, INSEAD Executive Director for Global Indices. Lanvin noted that there is an urgent need for smart agriculture to optimize supply and distribution chains and foster creative new business models that minimize pressure on land, energy and other natural resources – while addressing the needs of the world’s poorest. |

chkil0:As opposed to your source 'oxford economics'? Euromonitor is the world leading independent market research org... Growth is growth, growth is always good for people... One might not mean its better, but as far as its growing, it means its getting there ... I mean Miami has one of the most developed real estate yet in 2012 they still had among the highest growth together with tokyo and the rest, so just because one might be developed doesn't mean you stop growing, if you produce 20B then following year 20.2B that mean you dint employ all the people who graduated that year.... http://africanbusinessmagazine.com/uncategorised/kenya-property-values-among-the-best-in-the-world/ In other words, what am saying is, at one point, US citizens must have said the same thing about China's growth, that they had a low base (GDP-wise) so growth rate was higher, but right now they are starting to look back on their shoulders where China is |

About IPSTC The Peace Support Training Centre (PSTC) was established in January 2001 as part of the Kenyan Defense Staff College. It initially focused at training of Kenyan forces for UN peace keeping missions and later African Union Peace Support Operations.PSTC became a separate Kenyan MOSD establishment in July 2006 and in 2008, initial efforts towards “internationalization” were made.In 2009, PSTC Karen merged with International Mine Action Training Centre (IMATC) to form one centre, International Peace Support Training Centre (IPSTC). The former PSTC was renamed to Peace and Conflict Studies School (PCSS) and IMATC renamed to Humanitarian Peace Support School (HPSS).In 2011, IPSTC achieved autonomy through formal partnership arrangements with USA, UK, Canada, Japan, Kenya, Germany and UNDP.

Isn't Nigeria supposed to occupy top 5 airports in this list as a result of shear number of population and being the largest economy and all... 2nd pic is JKIA

Guys, Why so serious, relax , everyone take a chill pill
|
Look at the map properly, its only in Kenya where geographically speaking, three different demographics almost equally occupy... The only other place that has a similar thing is Nigeria although the nilotes only have a small portion in the north east. Anyone who has the notion that kenya doesn't have a culture needs to get his head checked
|
genieluv:That's a lie, infact if remove the capital most people in other places around Kenya listens to local traditional music the most or swahili songs..... Infact there are more traditional songs in kenya than the entire East Africa, and am no talking about this stuff people make with music software in a studio, am talking about african beats using indigenous instruments, the stuff you can only record live... Kenya is one of the most culturally diverse countries in Africa, so we have become accustomed to different traditions, even on national holidays, 70% of live entertainment will be dedicated to traditional songs and dances, there would be a traditional prayer, christian prayer, islamic prayer...... You will never find ppl celebrating cultural diversity like in kenya, each season you could attent Luo night or ohangla, Kalembe night, Mugithi night, Taarab festival, Swahili fashion show..... Each year high schools have national drama festivals which are a big deal nowadays even the finals are shown on Tv in that festival there are alot of cultural celebration.. Franckly anyone suggesting Kenya doesn't celebrate culture needs to get his head checked out or get a definition of the word culture.. Before you even go that far, look at the kenyan flag, you see that symbol in the middle? That's a traditional shield used by some tribes in kenya on the old days, together with the spears, now tell me, how many African flags have any traditional or cultural symbol or in them? |
Shaytun:the one on African military started in 2010, while the other thread started only in 2016 |
The tread has 1162 pages... 1162!!! If it was boring it would have ended long time ago, clearly those who go there can't get out, they just keep going there again and again. And the thread is surprisingly relatively self-moderated when you compare with other threads, No demeaning insults or black on black racism or things like that, sometimes it has gotten out of hand but 99% of the time people just talking like gentlemen |
