the article stated ( Air Tractor aircraft with weapons, and related support) and what our current problems! ? we have a counter-insurgency near our border, which will by the exit of AMISOM next year become even worse.this will enable KAF to have a precision bombing, increase its ISR platform and also allow it to operate from remote Dirt strips and airfields.comparing it with a deal made recently by Qatar worth $70 billion with Boeing, its a drop in the bucket.don't forget in the recent Huey ll Deal, every thought we were getting 5 chopper .which only later learned we were going to get 8 choppers
I would like to see what type of payload it would be carrying, its time to properly finish off the COIN.... the air tractors should be based some in wajir or manda close to somali border, they should also be under direct contact (like 4 of them) with special forces units like what the UAE did with theirs -the special forces, esp reconisance and survailance units should have their ouw personal calvary

somalia is ethiopia just moslems...

when you think ethiopia will fold their hands while you invade somalia, then you dont understand people...
Ethiopia and simalia have fought many times before.
After independence, the border war escalated with mainly bandits supplied by somalia and soviet union, to which somalia publickly denied, and Kenya's parliament eventualy voted (according to declasified documents) for the preparation of a full scale conventional war with somalia..... but right before, Somalia president ended up signing a ceasfire agreement with kenya which ended the border war..... but just before that happened, somalia was getting some bad ass weaponry and cash from soviet union (at the time, somalia had the largest and most mordern airforce in eaft africa) and thus Ethiopia and Kenya ended up signing a defence pact to come to each other's aid if Somalia attempted anything on the two nations........... That defence pact has been renewed constantly with every succesive governments thst have come to power from the two countries.. thus nor Kenya or Ethiopia has ever interfered with each other (atleast not publicly) when it comes to each of the two countries dealing with somalia.....

read this.....

It has been 60 years since the Kenya-Ethiopia Defence Pact was signed. Although ostensibly formed by the two countries to protect and come to each other’s aid if either were attacked, at the heart of the treaty was, and still remains, Somalia – their civil-war-troubled neighbour.
Wanjohi Kabukuru analyses its impact and relevance six decades on.

even from these pics, look how their APCs take positions strategically, each one covering a different angle, then the troops just look so cool and on point.. THEY LOOK LIKE THEY OWN THE PLACE

Exactly what I've been saying all along.
And since the AU doesn't have the funds to re-imburse Kenya and other AMISOM participating countries, they went begging to the EU and the US. Both those entities aren't funding because of the milk of human kindness, but for realpolitik self-interest.
And since he who pays the piper plays the tune, there's a price to pay should the participating countries refuse either to dance, or get it into their heads that they'd prefer a taraab tune to the piper's waltz. As Burundi has just found out.

Trump's team has also just asked the State Department to justify why the US continues to fund AMISOM after 10 years "with no Al-Shabaab defeat".

The moral of the story: the African contribution to the AU's funds cannot continue to be funded by mainly 4 countries: Algeria, Egypt, Nigeria and South Africa. 50 countries collectively pay about $40 million (with many still in arrears) whilst the 4 pay over $250 million! Of course Gaddafi used to pay for some of them so that they'd vote for his mad schemes, but that era is gone.

That's before we even ask why the AU should be funded by donors!
thats the way of the world, thats how it has always worked with other bodies, including the EU and even the UN.... what you are sujjesting would have to be a completely different and innovative way.......which is hard to achieve with such a contine tal body, there will never be any agreement from member countries....... those 4 countries you've mentioned account for like 60% of Africas GDP..
rich countries with higher GDP have always beenthe ones paying higher fees, and since Africa is relatively poor, that is not enough ...... e.g 129 countries of rhe UN fund only 1.5% of the UN overal budget! 17 countries in the world fund 81% of UN! the US alone accounts for 22% of the UNs funding, without US,Japan, germany, france, britain and china the UN is essecially Broke.........

its ideally nice and it will be a big source of pride if the AU could fully fund it self so that atleast African daughters and sone can have some dignityrestored..... but things are not always as easy as we would want them to be

BTW, trump should ask himself how many years the US has been in middleast, and if they were to go back 14 years and compair it to now, have they made things better or is is the worst time ever for peace inm.east? somalia had no govt at all, its now setting up its own systems and about to have a democratic election.... it has been done with a mediocre budget and with less manpower... all the US has done is made things worse in m.east, exoprted there weapons , then they made sure to fortify homeland back at home to make sure non of it comesback to bite them in the a$$

And yet you, the civilian, tried to argue with me, the man in uniform, when I told you Kenya will never be re-imbursed for the use of its naval assets in Kismayo because:

1) When Kenya incurred the expense, it was a unilateral mission and not part of AMISOM;
2) AMISOM is an AU - not UN - mission and the AU doesn't have the funds;
3) The EU and the US voluntarily fund AMISOM and can withdraw their funding anytime for whatever reason;
4) The UN only has a political mission, UNSOM, to support Somalia's nascent government and to sometimes help with airlift for AMISOM; and
5) UN approval for AMISOM =/= UN funding.
Your number 5 there is correct but also answers thequestion ......
essencial Amisom is an AU mission, but with APROVAL from the UN, and specifically, its mandated by the UN security council... So the AU and Amisom are free to do their thing, as long as its on the mandate of the mission, when KDF was joining Amisom, it negociated with both AUand UN, even after approval from AU they had to wait for the approval of UNSC , and thats when the UNSC refuse to include naval assets and fighter craft of kdf as part of Amisom... and since they refused, tge EU and US did not want to fund those resources since they are only intrested in funding Amisom and not individual entities, but since the same countries are the ones that refused kenya's request through the UNSC...we. could say they just didnt wanna fund the use of those assets period.

here are exerpts from articles from 2012 when kenya was joining amisom, notice how they keep quoting UN mandate..

-----((
KDF Spokesman Colonel Oguna said Kenyan troops would retain the right to use maritime resources outside the new UN mandate if its sea borders were threatened. This is despite Wednesday’s mandate allowing them to join Amisom, which bars the use of seaborne military equipment.
---))

----((
A report by the UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon reveals that Kenya will provide 4,700 troops and will be based in Sector 2, covering Middle and Lower Juba regions (Kismayu). Till now, the Kenya Defence Forces, which entered Somalia in October last year, have been secretive on the number of troops on the ground, although it is estimated Nairobi has at least 2,000 soldiers in the neighbouring country.
The UN has authorised Uganda and Burundi to increase their troop levels in Somalia to reach the 12,000 mark, up from their current strength of 9,500 troops.
Kenya, defence officials said, is awaiting a decision by the AU and the UN Security Councils on when the country can formally join the Somalia mission. The cost of deploying 17,731 troops is likely to double Amisom’s budget from the 2011 figure of $247 million to between $450 million and $500 million.

Excellent choice, it's performance in the field has been stellar. The CS/VP3 has proven to be an excellent choice for the Nigerian military.

However, i don't think it's a police vehicle though, even border patrol. Additional VN-4's should have been purchased instead.

I guess with the MRAPs, Kenya Police going with the maxim, "It's better you have it and done need it, than you need it and don't have it".

It's an excellent MRAP.
I think they decided they want zero casualties from ambushes or roadside IEDs...... gotta give it them though, they been doing an exelent job in preventing or minimizing attacks to the border.... we dont here of harrasment of the locals, or mistreatments of suspect, we dont here suspected terrorist dying in unclear or unexplained circumstances in a 'shoot out', nowadays you just here arrests after arrest......after infomation provided by the 'public', and when they give reports they tell you who the suspects are, where they were, how they got there, why they are suspects.... you could almost say most of their (police) operations nowadays are intelligently led

Christianity EtcRe: Apostle Suleman's 50 Prophecies For 2017 by Fidha254(m):
Someone should start a new topic on what am going to say next and let people discuss about it...

I think God used to meddle and guide human affairs back in the day BC, and a few thousand years after Christ... But somewhere in between God just got tired and just stopped meddling.... Those times of Automan empire and roman empire... Or those times when the catholic church went on a killing spree of all women who were suspected of coming from merry Magdalen lineage and at the same time witchest were burnt tgether with scientists in the name of the pope..... Somewhere in between God just gave up, he put the world on autopilot mode and started some other project to keep himself busy, from time to time He checks to see what we have done with ourselves... But he doesn't really meddle anymore.... When those who truly believe pray and it happens, its just mere luck or coincidence, there is someone out there who doesn't care about God who gets the same luck or even more than the most religious one..... If you say but the religious one will be rewarded in heaven, then what's the point of making him suffer on earth for all his life, cantGod just spare the guy some earthly pain.... There is someone else who will enjoy the pleasures if the world, sin at every opportunity, but oe month before he dies after he gets sick, he repents and asks for forgiveness for all those he wronged including God, and by religion logic, that guy will still end up in heaven ...
The earthquakes that happen in Nepal, the tsunamis, world war one and 2 where millions died.. The never ending war on terror that kills hundreds of thousand everyday... Road accidents that kill millions yearly.. you want to tell me God stands by and just watch us destroy ourselves?

I see an attack on Saudi Arabia and I see reactions.
I see Nigeria’s Central Bank Governor being removed.
A sitting Governor to be removed through the courts.
President Buhari of Nigeria needs prayers over his health to be able to continue as President.
God to disgrace diabolical pastors this year.
I see two male actors, two female actresses and a musician being mourned in Nigeria. But prayers can avert it.
I see a deadlier attack in South Africa. South Africans telling people to leave their country. This time, worse than the first.
Kenya to rejoice as some terrorists will be arrested.
I see the Clinton family celebrate.
I see the whole Nation of Nigeria mourning.
I see a coup in an African nation.
I see another gathering that looks like a constitutional conference in Nigeria.
I see some girls like CHIBOK GIRLS being released (a few of them).
clever dude.... Especially when he adds "but prayers can avert it" ...... If it happens he will say he saw it coming, if it doesn't happen he will say prayers save them

How is Kenya well connected? does it mean Nigerians don't buy smartphone .
the amount of people with mobile phones in Nigeria are more than the whole population of Kenya.... By well connected I mean technologically speaking and also infrastructurewise... Connected not only within Kenya but also to neighbouring countries.... E.g. Members of East Africa have same uniform call rates, You can send money to someone in a neibouring country at the same rate as you send within ones country... Tanzania and Kenya for E.G cumulatively transact $6billion a month through mobile money... Online transaction like from PayPal and VISA and MasterCard from anywhere in the world sent to ones account can be deposited to an MPEsa account, and you don't even have to step inside any bank.... While these things are not enough to persuade a phone company to choose Kenya as its launchpad, the hype around launching your product it this new upcoming tech savvy economy is 'catchy' to the ears of those calling the shots in those companies... Then infrastructure means all the countries in the region are well connected with minimal bottlenecks when it comes to EAS OF DOING BUSINESS thus when you talk of launching a product in Kenya, its almost like you are launching in/for all east African countries combined population, each of these countries has its own sizeable middleclass

Media attention, when they launch in Kenya, its not just Kenya they are targeting, Kenya is well connected to neibouring countries from east up to central Africa....bieng a dominant regional economy, majority of Kenyan exports go to these countries, therefore a multinational phone manufacturers would have it very easy using same supply chains to distribute their product to a combined population of more than 100Million financially capable consumers, at least..
Also Kenya is well connected, smartphone companies love when their products perfom
