giles14:Tanzania is blessed... They say they have twice as much helium as US which is the largest supplier.. In future is they get it right, Tz will be sharing the throne with DRC ....overlooking the rest of us esp in the East and Central Africa region.... That 57tcf of gas os probably worth more than $100B (its valued at $160B) then they have ..... Quote. He said that the Geological Survey of Tanzania (GST), who are a government agency, shows that the country has 103 million tonnes of iron ore, 2,222 million tonnes of gold, 13.65 million tonnes of copper, 209 million tonnes of neckel, 50.9 million carats of diamonds, tanzanite( 12.60 million carats) and 911 million tones of coal. They also have uranium.. http://m.miningweekly.com/article/tanzania-expected-to-become-the-second-biggest-uranium-producer-2013-10-11/rep_id:3861 |

giles14:esp given the fact that Tz-china are inseparable friends, their friendship is not just about economy, its political and has withstood everything, it wouldn't have been difficult for Tz go for the JF-17, especially now that they have like 57trillion cubic feet of natural and helium gas of which most of the development towards the production are done by Chinese state run multinationals.. If they like, they don't even have to contribute any actual money, they can choose barter trade , a few million cubic feet of gas for a dozen 4th Gens |

Rwanda Rwanda has also been quietly upgrading its air force capabilities to support its 5,000 troops deployed in peacekeeping missions around the world and protect its border with the unstable DR Congo. Two new Mil Mi-17 helicopters were recently purchased for the Rwandan troops deployed to United Nations Mission in South Sudan. Rwanda has deployed the eight Mi-17 helicopters in South Sudan to help with search and rescue operations and emergency evacuation missions. Rwanda has also reportedly purchased a new medium-range surface-to-air defence missile system from China. The missile system can effectively intercept high, medium, low and ultra-low altitude aerial targets, like fixed-wing aircraft, helicopters and UAVs, as well as engage and destroy incoming cruise missiles at altitudes between 30 metres and 2,000 metres. |
Tanzania Tanzania’s military is on a fast-tracked modernisation programme. In September, President Jakaya Kikwete said his administration is “in the process of acquiring modern air force equipment, which includes attack helicopters, modern aircraft and other high-tech gear.” Early this year, the Tanzania People’s Defence Forces received new hardware from China, including Type 63A amphibious tanks, A100 multiple rocket launchers (a range of 40 km and 120 km) and Type 07PA self-propelled mortars. According toJanes Defence Weekly,Tanzania is also seeking to strengthen its air and naval defence capabilities to defend its newly discovered offshore petroleum resources and secure its territorial waters from piracy and illegal fishing. In 2013, Tanzania threatened to go to war with Malawi over oil exploration activities in Lake Nyasa/Malawi which is disputed by the two countries. Last year, 14 new J-7Gs fighter jets ordered in 2009 were quietly delivered from China as part of the modernisation programme of the country’s air force. |
Uganda's version Uganda has actually recorded a drop in military spending from the all-time high of $1.02 billion in 2011 to $465 million this year. The cut has been attributed to the heavy military hardware Uganda purchased between 2009 and 2013. During this period, Uganda’s arms imports increased by 1,200 per cent, higher than between 2004 to 2008 due to the delivery of six Su-30 combat aircraft worth $744 million and 44 T-90S tanks from Russia and 4 S-125 SAM systems from Ukraine. |
Kenya short-term N mid-term spending...No mention of fighter jets !!!! From a Nov,2014 article http://www.theeastafrican.co.ke/news/African-countries-stockpile-weapons-in-the-face-of-terrorism/2558-2539610-bufu1yz/index.html This year’s $1.7 billion defence budget will go to acquiring 10 new military helicopters,... and installation of closed circuit (CCTV) surveillance cameras in 10 cities to secure the country following a series of terrorist attacks by Al Shabaab. According to a recent report on Kenya’s defence industry market attractiveness, overall military spending will grow to $5.5 billion by 2018 as the country acquires helicopters, eight new warships, armoured vehicles, unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) and border surveillance and monitoring equipment. |

I stopped believing in that Mi-28 crap long time ago... Simply because if we had them, someone would have seen or heard something... I mean take the recently delivered Huey for e.g. Before they were delivered there was one being tested, and anyone with hearing that wanted to hear, noticed when it was hovering on our skies.... You can hide lots of secrets but you cant hide a flying helo, the unique sound of the night hunter is a dead giveaway... First because its an expensive piece of equipment, an order of a few units would cause a dent in someone's pocket... Anyway, its a long story but to cut it short... Kenya does not operate any,.... But at one point in time, we must have been at a ver advanced stage of acquiring them, cause if it was just an empty rumour, you wouldn't have all this international air magazines quoting the same thing at one point, one magazine when as futher as asking the manufacturer if Kenya operated any in which the manufacture denied...so hope that puts a rest to that... Here are different citations where this issue has been talked about... A magazine like flight international is a very old magazine which has been relied upon by lots of pilots and aviation experts at even them were at once quoted on the same, so you cant blame overzealous Kenyans from being alittle too enthusiastic to entertain the idea

ProudlyKenyan:There some companies that I bet you dint really know about that serve more than was Africa like this one... Claims from twin earthquakes in Nepal on April 25 and May 12 last year ate into the Kenya Reinsurance Corporation's half-year profit through June, the firm reported yesterday. The East and Central Africa's largest reinsurer – with presence in 62 countries in Africa, Asia and Middle East – said it was among the risk-takers hardest hit by the catastrophes. Kenya Re, owned 60 per cent by the state, said it has paid about Sh450 million in claims so far. http://www.the-star.co.ke/news/2016/08/31/nepals-earthquakes-hurt-kenya-re-profits_c1411766 |

A description of the simulator from their website ARI’s Warship simulator facilitates training in ship handling, maneuvering, marine propulsion and decision making on naval warships in an environment that offers all the complexities of the real world without any of the associated dangers, risks and costs. The Full Mission Warship Simulator provides detailed simulations of a comprehensive range of the features unique to naval vessels and accurately simulates the ship handling characteristics of a wide variety of naval ships including destroyers, frigates, missile ships, offshore patrol vessels and more. Bridge equipment, specific to naval vessels, is ergonomically built and arranged in a manner that provides total look and feel of a naval ship in motion. High fidelity visual display systems and rigorously modelled 3D scenes provide a completely immersive and believable environment for the hands-on training of naval personnel. The ARI Machinery Control Room Simulators are designed to train and assess the competence of engine department personnel on warships, including officers in charge of an engineering watch and ratings forming part of the engineering watch. The MCR Simulators are based entirely on real warship technical systems including the main propulsion plant, automation, power generation and management, damage control machinery and other auxiliary systems. MTU (12V, 16V) and other engine types are simulated including Gas Turbine and Steam turbine propulsion systems for specific vessel types. ARI Simulation solutions are designed to be modular, making it possible to create a simulated environment very similar to the way a client’s specific vessels are designed. ARI can create a library of ship models that conform to the behavioural characteristics and appearance of warships in your own fleet. As with all naval customers, the confidentiality and integrity of your data is fully protected at ARI. |
Kenya navy acquires Warship Bridge Simulators Updated: Mar 31, 2016, 06.36 PM IST NEW DELHI: ARI Simulation, a domestic firm, today said it has successfully completed the indigenous manufacturing of a suite of Warship Bridge Simulators for Kenyan Navy. The company stated that it is now in the process of delivering the simulator suite to the Kenyan Navy fleet. The suite comprises a large primary bridge, built entirely to DNV-GL Class A Standards and fully integrated with six additional Class B Bridges. Specialised naval maneuvering operations like group/fleet tactical maneuvering training and convoy training can be practiced using this simulator. The primary bridge has more than 300 degrees horizontal field of view visualisation system presented using high end projection systems. The suite replicates the exact set of vessel maneuvering controls with navigation and collision avoidance equipment as found on board the Kenyan naval vessels. Communication system and safety control modules are also integrated in the suite. The pre-delivery-inspection (PDI) of the simulators was completed recently. The systems are scheduled to be operational and in use by June this year at a new purpose-designed facility currently being built in Mombasa. Shravan Rewari, CEO and Managing Director, ARI Simulation, said, "This suite of simulators has been designed keeping in mind future expansion capabilities and offers a high ..... pic of KN fleet flagship

africaken254:Only KCAA or KAA have the authorities to approve such a thing (cause a delay).... And since this is not an extraordinary circumstances such as an accident or natural phenomenon like bad weather.... The airport management cannot anounce directly to the public for fear of being held liable for any loss incurred due to cancelled flights or expenses ...thus the airport management would tell all the airlines and leave the responsibility to the airlines affected in that 1 hour delay to find alternatives or work it out with its customers and convince them to be willing to come later and expect to be delayed by an hour, because if there is a 1 hr delay, when the sky is free again, there will be a backlog and all airlines for that day will have to adjust there schedules, KAA won't be able to keep up and inform everyone, only respective airlines can inform thier passengers if there are any changes to their scheduled flights...if KAA were to anaounce that directly to the public without waiting for respective airlines to inform its customers, then then the airlines can hold KAA liable for any losses incured due to perssengers cancelling flights all together for that day |
