guru01: What do you mean by bad rep? Are you not using hybrid app and also develop hybrid app? All I hear 2years ago was bad performance, and I believe alot has changed. Bad rep as in bad reputation.... Most developers still look down on Hybrid apps so the reputation is still bad |

guru01: @op you are very wrong, gone are those days where hybrid apps have bad reps. The OP is not wrong... I personally am a full stack hybrid app developer, but still cannot deny the fact that they still have bad rep. Don't mistake that for poor performance... The performance of phonegap apps are improving fast but their rep is not improving so op is right |

eazigbo: I can do it for you. I work full time as a web developer in an ICT company on the Island. I can show you some of our work similar to that. However, I will need to you note the following: 1. To be able to get a commercial site like the one you want, where people can purchase books online, the site owners are made to pay a sum of N150, 000 to InterSwitch LTD which grant the access to make online payments with your MasterCard, Verve, Visa here in Nigeria. Its a condition to be met in Nigeria. So watch it when some mediocres drop off public emails like yahoo and gmail.com addresses and NOT customized emails. They are quacks. What kind of thing is this ? How can you call someone quark just because he's using a personal email ? I have a work email, but prefer to drop personal emails on public places like Nairaland. If you wanna apply, apply quietly and don't try to spoil bring others down Besides, Interswitch has a much cheaper plan of 16,500 naira.... see attached image

Craigston: Of course you can still use stopPropagation and preventDefault. And it's not different from listening to an event. It only helps you write cleaner, more maintainable code and separates behavior, presentation and structure. Using html event trigger attributes such as onClick, onBlur, etc mix more JavaScript into your html which should be avoided. Instead of using those, query the elements you're interested in and use addEventListener() to attach event handlers to them. That makes your code more readable. It becomes clearer on first glance what your function is meant to achieve. Your html becomes free of JavaScript too. I used this technique to write a template for a friend and reading the code was enjoyable. You understand the document structure better since it is almost html alone. Similarly, the JavaScript file was shorter and cleaner. Now I see you are talking about code structure which I agree with 100% cause I always try to improve mine. I thought you were implying that it might cause performance issues, that's why I was really asking for details.... because in my world, performance is almost everything |
Programming › Re: I Can Code In 75 Languages!!! by FincoApps(m): 9:21pm On Jul 22, 2016 |
Craigston: It's actually better -- a good practice -- to avoid using event triggers and the 'event' object, except there's no other option. Using event handlers and element queries is better and your program's behavior should be predictable. Why ? And please give a clear reason... |

KazukiIto: I'm not old dsql18. I'm just a student of the Old and hopefully, will be a leader of the New. There is no soul in hackerism any longer. I'm so sad. Everyone is interested is copying and pasting calculator programs in the name of having a 'portfolio'. Nothing clever anymore. So sad Dude, whether you like it or not, you must use the result of other people work.... it does not make you lazy. That's why there are scientists.... they help to discover things and easier ways to do things. People like you that want to do everything the hard way would be a scientist, but your works would probably be only taught when you are long gone... So I and most other programmers prefer not to be scientists and use what the other scientists has made |
Programming › Re: Which is more awesome to use for 'server-side programming', NodeJS or PHP? by FincoApps(m): 8:35am On Jul 20, 2016 |
dhtml, I've not used NodeJs for any client before so I'm breaking the rule but I need to mention something.... To the guys saying you cannot compare this to that, it's just a simple comparison so calm it down:
Ask a PHP developer, what language does he use for his server side, the answer would be "PHP" Ask a Node developer the same question and he's likely to say "NodeJS" and not Javascript...
Now the simple question is which do you prefer..... so guys stop making this seem like an exam cause I saww the question and immediately understood what the OP meant |

jboy01: well! you have a point, but you don't really get my message, Nigerians have always form the habit of creating an app-like app. like a website like Facebook, nairaland etc. if you study facebook and twitter, they are both social networks but the idea behind them are very different. bbm and what's app are different. Nairaland and gdevit are different too. what am saying is not to create gdevit like website and name "TopCoders". You are 100% correct. We like to copy too much and yea, I am guilty of this too but it's just the fact |

Scholar01: Hello big boss. Am thinking of porting the app to blackberry, but I need you to help me with a few questions. Please I'd appreciate if you can be as detailed as possible.
1: does blackberry require a registration fee to deploy apps to it's playstore ( just like Google demand 25 dollars and apple 90 dollars)
2: Which ad network work for blackberry as the two that I used in the game (admob and chartboost) don't work and I don't want to use unity ads for now.
3: do people still download blackberry apps? I need your opinion as a blackberry developer.
Then finally, how good is there in app purchase models.
Thanks To answer your questions: 1. BlackBerry vendor registration is 100% free. I did it when I was 17 and then they required a national ID card. Since I didn't have, they sent a doc to be signed by a notary 2. This is difficult, cause my Apps use my own Ads platform. Some developers have successfully ported Admob to BB before but I don't know how they did it.... I'm currently doing research on this though 3. I can assure you, you will get more downloads in BlackBerry World compared to Playstore, except you plan to spend huge amounts on Ads.... see attached image 4. BlackBerry inApp purchase is good. You will need a PayPal account. They pay monthly if you revenue is up to $50.... You can message me if you want more details about how they pay but overall, it's good

larisoft: well...I don't know iroko TV that much, and don't know anyone personally who relies on their services. I could be wrong, but that tells me their client base is still very modest (< 1000 video plays a day). And am I the only one who finds their site painfully slow with so many texts badly colored (Can barely read the caption on their homepage)?
But if its not, I have merely listed the flaws I see in PhP, all of which even though could be worked around, make the language a bad choice for certain projects.
Languages have areas where they shine brightest. If a project's success is heavily dependent on concurrency, efficiency, and core OOP, using PhP is abusing PHP.
But if the project's success is dependent on speed of development, low budget, and ease of maintenance, PHP is the best option I know.
There are people who know better than me about these things on this forumn and my opinions are just what they are: opinions. I change them once I m provided with logical reasons.
My 4 blog posts have been on the front page of nl programming section for days now, and have elicited the reactions of heavy weights I respect so much. That makes me very happy and grateful indeed. I love everything about this industry and doing what I do is an honor. I'm a regular user of iRokoTV and I can tell you 1 thing.... the website is increasingly getting popular and a lot bigger than you think.... I think their major user base is nigerians abroad |

Kodejuice: Hmmm, These ur methods will only work on Lower-end devices (i.e 512MB Ram), buts it atcually the best way to detect Hybrid Apps. They lag alot on lower-end devices. But its almost impossible to detect hybridness (Just by seeing), if the App is running on a device that has over 2GB Ram Lol I forgot to mention. There's a 99% sure way I recently developed.... ALL HYBRID APPS have this behavior: When the keyboard pops out, tapping else where to remove the keyboard would briefly show a white background. This happens even with Apps like Access Bank apps (I consider to be one of the most optimized hybrid apps) on my BB Passport. Although I said 99% because I recently came across a sample ionic app that doesn't have this behaviour |
Programming › Best Way To Detect An Hybrid App ? by FincoApps(op): 9:49pm On Jul 13, 2016 |
Apart from Apk disassembling, what are the other sure ways to identify Hybrid Apps ?
For me, I used to use these methods:
1. Screen transitions (Some Hybrid Apps don't animate when moving from screen to screen). 2. Then, the scrolling speed (Some hybrid apps don't scroll well)
So what's your method ? |
