Well I believe having a missing component have nothing to with not having the tools for repair, it is just lack of proper understanding of what they are doing.
Imagine an engr with 2000 repair knowledge fixing a 10th gen laptop or fixing a 2020 car, the technology is different and he will definitely miss something out.

The best thing to say is engrs should learn to upgrade their knowledge, go for online course on latest technology in their field and get the latest repair tools.

original half engine is 60-70% the original price of the same generator. 16 years means the generator have served it purposes and you should consider buying a new generator.

forget about the coil. many technician have coils loads in thier shops from abandon gens or the once they buy cheeply. don't ever make the costly mistake to buy fake or cheap held engine they normally packed up few months.
