It was like a scene from an episode of The Walking Dead. But it wasn’t zombies who could barely walk, it was New Yorkers. https://i2.wp.com/www.enzyhub.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/07/IMG_20160713_074910.jpg?zoom=4&resize=255%2C195 And it wasn’t an infection they were suffering from – but the same bad batch of drugs. Thirty-three people were hospitalized for a possible overdose on K2, a type of synthetic marijuana, in Brooklyn on Tuesday morning. Witnesses reported seeing more than a dozen people passing out, vomiting, urinating and twitching in the middle of the street around 9.30am in the Bedford-Stuyvesant neighborhood. They reportedly reacted to the drug almost simultaneously near Broadway and Myrtle Ave, an intersection that has become known as ‘ground zero’ for K2 addicts in the city. ‘It was a horrible scene,’ resident Brian Arthur told the New York Daily News. ‘Some of them were motionless. This is nothing you’d want your kids to see.’ Arthur, 38, filmed the incredible scene and posted it on his Facebook, showing people who couldn’t stand up straight and had to be held up by officers as they waited for a stretcher. ‘This is no joke over here right now, this is tragic,’ Arthur says as his camera moves from one passed-out New Yorker to the next. ‘This is crazy. Tell your kids, tell your family, stay off of that man.’ Arthur said it was mostly young, teenage boys who he saw overdosing in the street. Police first received a report of multiple people with an ‘altered mental status’ outside a Brooklyn community garden on Stockton Street. Officers found eight intoxicated individuals before discovering nine more, according to the New York Post. ‘Obviously it was a bad batch, a source told the Post. ‘They are lucky they didn’t die.’ Authorities said all of the hospitalized patients were expected to survive. K2 contains man-made chemicals that act on the same cell receptors in the brain that THC does in natural marijuana. It is dirt cheap, often sold for one to five dollars for a stick or package. Researchers have found instances in which chemicals in synthetic marijuana can bind much more strongly to cell receptors than THC, producing stronger effects. Because the chemicals vary from packet to packet, the effects of K2 are unpredictable and can change from use to use, according to the New York City Health Department. Effects of K2, which is packaged under names like Spice, AK-47, Smacked, and Dank, can include extreme anxiety, confusion, paranoia, and hallucinations. More than 6,000 people have been sent to the emergency room in New York because of K2 since 2015 and there have been two confirmed deaths caused by the drug. New York Mayor Bill de Blasio signed a bill in October that made it illegal to sell or produce K2, making it a crime punishable by up to a year in jail and fines of more than $100,000. In May he announced that there had been an 85 percent decline in K2-related emergency visits in the last 10 months. But on Stockton Street the drug remains a constant problem for residents, who had taken to putting up handwritten signs that read ‘No Smoking K2’. Britain’s oldest person Gladys Hooper has died at the age of 113. Her son Derek Hermiston confirmed that his mother, a former concert pianist, had died at the nursing home where she lived in Ryde on the Isle of Wight. Mr Hermiston, 85, said on Saturday night: “She passed away, she just faded, 113 and a half is a good old age. “We saw her this morning, she seemed reasonably well, she was sleeping. We had left her for just about an hour when they called us to tell us she had passed away.” When she celebrated her last birthday, the great-grandmother said: “I don’t feel very different to when I was 75.” Mrs Hooper broke a Guinness World Record last year when she became the oldest person to undergo a hip replacement operation which was carried out by consultant orthopaedic surgeon Jason Millington at St Mary’s Hospital in Newport. Following the operation, she moved into the Highfield Nursing Home in Ryde from a flat connected to the home of her son Derek Hermiston, 85, where she had lived for 12 years. Mrs Hooper was widowed in 1988 when her husband, Leslie, who was a pilot in the Royal Flying Corps in the two world wars, died. She had another great link to aviation as she was good friends at college with Amy Johnson who became a famous aviatrix. Born Gladys Nash on January 18 1903, she was brought up in Rottingdean, Brighton, East Sussex, and went on to study at college. She became a concert pianist in London and played with famous band leaders of the time such as Jack Payne, Debroy Somers and Maurice Winnick. She also started what is thought to be the first car hire company in the capital and later ran Kingscliff House School, which is now Brighton College, as well as nursed her husband for 13 years. According to the website Oldest In Britain, the next oldest person in the country is Bessie Camm, who is 112 years old and is from Rotherham. The Gerontology Research Group had listed Mrs Hooper as the 12th oldest in the world. SEE HER PICTURES >>>> http://www.enzyhub.com/uks-oldest-person-dies-at-113-years/ |
Dallas shooting – thursday Night last week around few minutes before 9 pm local Dallas time, as the peaceful protest against the against fatal police shootings of two black men, Alton Sterling in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, and Philando Castile in Falcon Heights, Minnesota, At least Dallas shooting suspect Micah Xavier Johnson shot 14 people, killing five police officers, in Dallas turning a peaceful protest, into a scene of chaos and bloodshed. The wounded include 12 police officers and two civilians civilians from elevated positions along the protest route, according to Dallas police and Dallas Mayor Mike Rawlin. It was the deadliest day for US law enforcement since the 9/11 attacks. From left, Lorne Ahrens, Michael Krol, Michael J. Smith, Brent Thompson and Patrick Zamarripa were killed in Dallas. The Dallas shooting was the kind of retaliatory violence that people have feared through two years of protests around the country against deaths in police custody, forcing yet another wrenching shift in debates over race and criminal justice that had already deeply divided the nation. After the shooting subsided, Mr. Johnson, wielding an assault rifle and a handgun, held the police off for hours in a parking garage, claiming — apparently falsely — to have planted explosives in the area, and threatening to kill more officers. In the end, the police killed him Friday morning with an explosive delivered by a remote-controlled robot, the Dallas police chief, David O. Brown, said. During the standoff, Mr. Johnson, who was black, told police negotiators that “he was upset about Black Lives Matter,” Chief Brown said. “He said he was upset about the recent police shootings. The suspect said he was upset at white people. The suspect stated he wanted to kill white people, especially white officers.” ABOUT THE SUSPECT The Suspect, Micah Xavier Johnson Johnson served in the U.S. Army Reserves until April 2015, according to ABC News citing defense officials. The Defense Department revealed that he was deployed to Afghanistan from November 2013 to July 2014 where he served as a mason, he was accused by a female soldier of sexual harassment, according to the lawyer who represented him. His accuser recommended that he recieve “mental help” and asked for a protective order against him. Other Reports indicate he had no known prior criminal history. His Facebook page indicates he was a fan of Elijah Mohammed, the deceased leader of the Nation of Islam. Johnson also reportedly liked the New Black Panther Party, the African American Defense League, and the Black Riders Liberation Party. But one of the groups Johnson “liked” on Facebook, the African American Defense League, posted a message earlier in the week encouraging violence against police in response to the killing in Louisiana. “The Pig has shot and killed Alton Sterling in Baton Rouge, Louisiana! You and I know what we must do and I don’t mean marching, making a lot of noise, or attending conventions. We must ‘Rally The Troops!’ It is time to visit Louisiana and hold a barbecue.” SEE MORE PICTURES and VIDEO FROM THE SHOOTING SCENE and THE DEAD POLICE OFFICERS here >>>> http://www.enzyhub.com/facts-about-dallas-shooting-and-the-suspect-micah-xavier-johnson-videopix/ lalasticlala mynd44

Ghana President, John Mahama, said said on Wednesday in Accra that the delay in the delivery of the crude oil ordered from Nigeria was the cause power generation problems for his country. “Recently, there have been some issues with electricity tariffs; the Electricity Company of Ghana has done some work on it. “They have done a realignment of their billing system and I believe that people can begin to feel some relief in terms of the bills that they were paying. “Aside from that, we have recently suffered some generational problems. I held a stakeholders’ meeting with all those involved in the power sector. Because of sabotage in Nigeria on the terminals, crude oil that we ordered last month has not arrived; and so, it has created some generational problem for us.” The President said he had asked the Bulk Oil Storage and Transportation Company to start storing at least one month of light crude oil supplied for Ghana so that in the event of any problem at the supply end in Nigeria, adding, “We were not affected the way we are currently affected. The Head of Department, Theatre Arts, Adeniran Ogunsanya College of Education, Ijanikin, Lagos, Mr Afeez Oyetoro on Saturday canvassed for adoption of mother tongue as a teaching medium in primary and secondary schools. Oyetoro told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Lagos, that if pupils and students were taught in their mother tongue, it would help them to understand the subject more easily. “You can only achieve your aim, when you teach or communicate in a language that a student is familiar with and understands. Oyetoro noted that the only way dissemination of learning could be effective, would be when well communicated, According to him, teaching in ones’ mother tongue allows for effective communication as it creates room for more learning. “Introducing reading and writing to primary school pupils, should be in a language they speak and understand; it leads to greater excitement and they develop the skills faster in a more meaningful way. “Teaching students in their mother tongue will lead to better educational output and also facilitates innovation and creativity,’’ he said. Oyetoro said when pupils in elementary school were taught in their mother tongue, it could go a long way in improving the value and culture of the country. “When a person understates his or her language very well, then he or she will be able to understand everything around him and add value to the nation,’’ the don said.
