A bomb just exploded in kano again, this time in a cemetery! All the dead bodies ran out of their graves but no casualties recorded. Commissioner of Police has asked them to return to their graves and go about their normal spiritual duties without fear that the situation is under control. |
ChinenyeN: In Mbaise, Ngor Okpuala, Ngwa, Asa, Ndoki, Etche and some parts of Ikwere (if I remember correctly) owu/ahowu is used when someone is nostalgic, missing or longing for something.Does (owu/ahowu) literally mean "i miss you" or just "miss" |
ChinenyeN: Well, fingard02k, forgive me for saying that you're acting, because as far as I know, the answer is not news to many people.can you help me with one you know or heard before? |
odumchi: Chinenye hit the nail on the spot. Most dialects have different ways of expressing "I miss you". What you got was the "typical" Anambra answer. If you asked an Abian or Deltan the same question, you'd get two totally different answers. In fact, Abia state alone has many ways of saying "I miss you".okay but please can you help me with one of the numerous (according to you) dialet's version? Thanks |
ChinenyeN: You're acting as if no one knew before. Nothing is "revealed". People have always known how to say "I miss you" in their various vernacular.Dear i'm not acting anything. Which vernacular are you talking about? Have you ever seen or come across where the correct answer was given?. Do you know the answer before?.yes i wrote "revealed" cus it was kinda hidden/known before. If anyone should be acting/forming then have to be you. |
The answer came up when parrot mouth (a comedian) asked miss (Ada) Anambra and miss (Ada) Igbo the question on rythme 95.7 Awka this morning..Big Thanks to Big Sid ( presenter) I miss you = Anya gi na-akpam/n'akpam . |

PROBABLE LINEUPS MANCHESTER UNITED De Gea Valencia, Ferdinand, Vidic, Evra Nani, Scholes, Carrick, Young Welbeck, Rooney BARCELONA Valdes Alves, Pique, Puyol, Planas Xavi, Busquets, Iniesta Sanchez, Messi, Rafinha Following the African and Asian legs of their summer tour, Manchester United's squad is significantly stronger with numerous players returning to the squad after international duty this summer. Youngsters such as Davide Petrucci, Ryan Tunnicliffe and a number of others have returned home as Nani, Wayne Rooney and Danny Welbeck are back following their involvement in Euro 2012, but the biggest boost to Sir Alex Ferguson is the fitness of his captain Nemanja Vidic after missing eight months of action. Patrice Evra missed out on the draw with Valerenga on Sunday with his wife expecting a baby, but the club confirmed he would be back with the squad for the clash with Barcelona. Barcelona have only played two previous pre- season matches with both starting line-ups made up of a mixture of youngsters and first-team players, while it is likely that Tito Vilanova will start his strongest side in Gothenburg on Wednesday. Last time out Barcelona drew 2-2 with Paris Saint- Germain before overcoming Carlo Ancelotti’s men 4-1 on penalties, with Lionel Messi, Dani Alves, Carles Puyol and Alexis Sanchez all appearing from the start alongside Sergi Roberto, Carles Planas and Rafinha, the younger brother of Thiago Alcantara. Gerard Pique, Andres Iniesta, Cesc Fabregas and Xavi are also all available and are in contention to start as the two sides look to set down a marker to the other. United have played four matches so far in pre- season and are yet to lose, drawing against Valerenga and Ajax Cape Town, added to wins over AmaZulu and Shenghai Shenhua. |
International businessman with billions of dollars to his name, Richard Branson, has lambasted the crop of leaders we have in Nigeria for their high level greed which, according to him, is killing big brands wishing to do business with the government of the country, for the growth of Nigeria’s economy. Below is the revelations by Mr. Branson on his experience in Nigeria… The chairman of Virgin Atlantic said: “…we have virgin’s ill-fated footsteps by setting up a new airline in Africa in conjunction with Nigerian government…the details of the doomed attempts to crack the Nigerian market in the 2000s is better imagined…we put …together a very good airline- the first airline in West Africa that was ever IOSA/ IATA operational safety audit accredited but unfortunately it got tied down to the politics of the country…we led the airlines for 11 years… “We fought daily battle against government agents who wanted to daily make fortune from us, politicians who saw the government 49% as a meal to seek for all kinds of favour…watchdogs (regulatory body) that didn’t know what to do and persistently asking for bribes at any point… Nigeria people are generally nice but the politicians are very insane…that may be irony because the people make up the politicians… “But those politicians are selfish…we did make N3billion for the federal government of Nigeria during the joint venture…realising that the government didn’t bring nothing to the table/ partnership except dubious debts by the previous carrier, Nigeria Airways…The joint venture should have been the biggest African carrier by now if the partnership was allowed to grow, but the politicians KILLED it…Nigeria is a country we SHALL NEVER consider to doing business again..” |

The Shehu of Borno, Alhaji Abubakar Garbai El-kanemi and the state’s Deputy Governor, Alhaji Zannah Umar, escaped death by the whiskers yesterday, as a bomb, went off near the Maiduguri Central Mosque, in front of the Shehu of Borno’s palace. No fewer than five people were killed in the explosion. Speaking on the bomb blast, the deputy governor said: “It was God that saved me and the Shehu of Borno. When we came out of the mosque after the Friday prayers, as soon as we stepped out of the mosque, a suicide bomber came in-between me and the Shehu of Borno convoy and the thing was detonated. But Al-hamdullah (thank God), the two of us survived the attacks.” The deputy governor hinted that the explosion pull off and threw away his right leg shoe, while his dress was stained with blood. “I thought I had lost my right leg,” he said, adding that he was whisked out of the danger area by his security aides. Speaking further on the incident, he said: “We thought we are getting better days, but what happened today (Friday) honestly, one cannot predict. What else can we do? It’s to either negotiate or we do otherwise. It is terrible! Al-hamdullah, myself and the Royal Highness, the Shehu survived this attacks. It was God that saved us from the suicide.” A suicide bomber believed to be about 15-year-old had attempted to hit the Central Mosque at about 2pm yesterday, but the explosive devices went off while military troops prevented him from gaining entrance into the area. Meanwhile, the Joint Task Force (JTF) spokesman, Lt. Col Sagir Musa, said five people were dead. He disclosed that a suicide bomber, who was “strapped with explosives, detonated the bombs very close to the Shehu of Borno, the Deputy governor and their entourage immediately after Juma’at Congregational prayer,” adding, “the JTF troops attached to the Shehu’s palace prevented the bomber from getting to the Shehu and the deputy governor. Five people, including the bomber, died while four civilians were wounded as a result of the unfortunate incident.” He also disclosed that two soldiers that pushed and stopped the bomber from closing in on the Shehu were critically injured. “The area has been cordoned off and swept by the bomb disposal arm of the task force. Both the Shehu’s palace and Mosque were cordoned off to prevent further attacks and bombings in the metropolis,” he added. The JTF had mounted heavy surveillance around the Shehu palace for about two months now. The Central Mosque is located in front of the mosque, even as the construction on the mosque has been on going. Nine construction in the mosque were last month slaughtered by attackers. The Nigeria Police, Ekiti State Command, has dragged to court, the teacher, Mrs. Rafatu Agboola who allegedly slaughtered her husband on June 12 , at Usi-Ekiti in Ido-Osi Local Government Area. The Police Public Relations Officer, (PPRO), ASP Victor Babayemi told Daily Sun in an interview that the police took the case to court after the preliminary investigations conducted by the CID section of the state command. He said the family of the woman claimed she was mentally ill, but the medical history presented by her family did not support the claim. The maternal uncle of the diceased, Mr. Joseph Folorunso, had earlier told Daily Sun that they did not believe the woman had any psychiatric problem because, the late husband never told any of his siblings that his wife had such a problem. He added that their in-laws never said their daughter had a psychiatric problem until after she killed her husband. He described the deceased as a responsible person, which was the reason they all rallied round him when he wanted to marry the lady. Mr. Folorunso however made it clear that the family was not ready for any legal action against the woman because, they did not have money to waste on legal battle, which he said would not bring back their son. He said it would be a futile exercise for the family to keep spending money on prosecuting her, after they had lost their son and the woman would not return to their family and there was no child they could point to, as the gain from the ill-fated marriage. Mrs. Agboola, who is in her late-twenties, allegedly woke up at midnight on June 12, went into her husband’s room and slaughtered him. She reported herself to the police the morning after the gruesome act. The late husband, who was said to be in his thirties according to a police source, was a Physics teacher at Eda Oniyo Community Grammar School before his tragic death.
