datolee: Your question has no bases, Capital oil wasn't taken over by AMCON because of subsidy fraud, AMCON does not investigate subsidy fraud, It was taken over like other banks because of debt!
In fact, the earlier arrangement was for AMCON to manage the company for two years (from 2013 to 2015), stablize the company ad hand it back over to Ifeanyi Uba, he never stopped being the owner, just that he was ousted as the CEO and cannot sign cheque. As matter of fact, AMCON gave him two options, either to continue working as CEO and forfeit his governorship aspiration or go for governorship and forfeit being CEO.
What is the relationship between AMCON and subsidy? He has reached agreement with AMCON just like the other banks and business taken over by AMCON and he is reinstated as the CEO. all these while, he never cease to be the owner.

mikeansy: Apart from the fact that some emirs were given preferential treatment, that law itself is as boneheaded as they come!
How can the economy of any nation survive if the country's international businessmen can not handle any foreign currency?
That's not fight against corruption, that's plain stup.i.dit.y! There was a clear decree against the keeping of foreign accounts, and this was what emerged from the Austrian escapade. Alhaji Alhaji kept, not one, but several undeclared foreign accounts, and he had no business being in possession of the large amount of foreign currency of which he was robbed by his overnight companion. The media screamed for an even application of the law, but Buhari had turned suddenly deaf. By contrast, Fela Anikulapo languished in goal for years, sentenced under that very draconian decree. His crime was being in possession of foreign exchange that he had legitimately received for the immediate upkeep of his band as they set off for an international engagement. A vicious sentence was slapped down on Fela by a judge who later became so remorse stricken at least after Buhari’s overthrow that he went to the King of Afro-beat and apologized. http://www.opinions.ng/the-crimes-of-buhari/ |

Lesser known was the traumatic experience of the director of an international communication agency, an affiliate of UNESCO. Akin Fatoyinbo arrived at the airport in complete ignorance of the new currency decree. He was thrown in gaol in especially brutal condition, an experience from which he never fully recovered. It took several months of high-level intervention before that innocent man was eventually freed. These were not exceptional but mere sample cases from among hundreds of others, victims of a decree that was selectively applied, a decree that routinely penalized innocents and ruined the careers and businesses of many.http://www.opinions.ng/the-crimes-of-buhari/ |

Mrpauch: The crimes of Gen Buhari as listed by Wole Soyinka. http://www.opinions.ng/the-crimes-of-buhari/ Shall I remind this nation of Buhari’s deliberate humiliating treatment of the Emir of Kano and the Oni of Ife over their visit to the state of Israel? I hold no brief for traditional rulers and their relationship with governments, but insist on regarding them as entitled to all the rights, privileges and responsibilities of any Nigerian citizen. This royal duo went to Israel on their private steam and private business. Simply because the Buhari regime was pursuing some antagonistic foreign policy towards Israel, a policy of which these traditional rulers were not a part, they were subjected on their return to a treatment that could only be described as a head masterly chastisement of errant pupils. Since when, may on ask, did a free citizen of the Nigerian nation require the permission of a head of state to visit a foreign nation that was willing to offer that tourist a visa? One is only too aware that some Nigerians love to point to Buhari’s agenda of discipline as the shining jewel in his scrap-iron crown. - Wole Soyinka |

barcanista: When General Muhammadu Buhari came to power, there was wide corruption in the Second Republic. A decree was passed that nobody take out or bring in foreign currency into the country. Offenders are liable to 10years in Jail. This decree was to curb money laundering by politicians and corrupt businessmen.
FELA KUTI Fela had performed abroad, he was paid in foreign currency in cash and had it on him on his return to Lagos. He was subsequently arrested for breaking the law and was prosecuted, found guilty and jailed.
PLEA: There was a plea by human right groups to Head of State Buhari to "pardon" Fela, he refused because he believe that the law be served to the letter.
THE OFFENSE, GMB AND FELA: First, there was an existing law/decree.
Secondly, Fela bringing in cash means it contradicts the law/decree, however, the money is from hard work. Morally, he's justified! Legally, he is not.
Buhari had refused to grant pardon, because the law was broken. If he grants pardon, some section of politicians will accuse him of preferential treatment. He didn't because he believes in absolute discipline. By law, he is justified. Morally, he is not, considering that it was Fela's sweat(my opinion). The law does not work with emotion unfortunately.
MY OPINION: GMB should have pardoned Fela. The law should have made for exception. Buhari should have tampered justice with mercy In conclusion to the bolded, General Mohamodu Buhari Rtd. is callous and wicked for sending Fela to TEN YEARS Imprisonment for bringing his hard-earn money into the country May the soul of Fela Anikulapo Kuti and the many innocent Nigerians killed unjustly in Nigeria continue to hunt their killers by Fire & by Force. |

oluwabambam: Sometimes I think I'm mad. Perhaps I am if insanity is now seen as sanity and the order of the day.
I have never, not for once, celebrated or praised Fashola's administration. No apologies, but most Nigerians are gullible.
Can anyone ask the sincere question what Fashola's administration, or Tinubu's, has done in the last 15 years? Planting of flowers around town? Where? Ajegunle?
For what purpose?
How does that add to the quality of life?
Isn't that a tiny fraction of the Ministry of Environment's responsibilities?
How many roads have been fixed in Lagos?
Where are the street lights?
They brought in some poor quality China-made solar lights that ceased working just the next week after installation in a few parts around Ikeja axis.
The drainage system is still poor!
N18 billion per month is just the publicly declared figure!
You'll be shocked to know how much is being siphoned away to foreign accounts before official declaration is done.
You think the APC goons care about you?
Who are you, poor Lagosian?
You think because Fashola has the aura of a technocrat or just because he's a trained lawyer would make him a responsible leader?
Do you know why the term 'Wolves in sheep's clothing' exist?
You can't recognize them?
Many of those praising Fashola or venerating APC in Lagos would probably be dead in their graves before realizing they've been robbed blind by those whom they ascribe excellency status to.
What's excellent about people that are meant to 'serve' you?
You, the tax-payer?
You pay them to carry out functions for you just because it's impossible for every man to be in government.
They turn around and act like gods, and you clap hands for them that they've done well.
He's a working governor, you say. Lagos is working, Fashola is working, you say. Indeed.
You are myopic. Sorry; you are totally blind.
Blame it on ignorance and a mediocre brain.
Fashola is working for himself, his wife, his children, his grandchildren, great grandchildren, and Emperor Bola Tinubu's clan.
People have brains but have refused to use it!
I am in no support of any party be it PDP or APC, but let's have a change even if for the sake of change.
These rogues in power are confident that they can't be booted out of office because they know the power lies with them until the people prove them wrong.
If the next person comes to power and acts like a fool, give him the boot after four years.
The next slowpoke after that would probably sit up. Formatted! He that has an ear, let him hear... |
“I realized that, through clever and constant application of propaganda, our people have been made to see hell as paradise," - Former Deputy Gov Pedro. “Astonishingly, on the other hand, I see a government that claims it generates about N18 billion a month from taxes, levies and surcharges, yet it is so disconnected from the plight of Lagosians, that it is more concerned about lavishing praises on itself than it is on improving the welfare of its citizens. Are we actually better off than we were four years ago It is a tragedy and a big slight on my generation that this level of mediocrity is currently being celebrated meritoriously, but it is a bigger slight on us, the people, when our expectations are driven by such minimum standards.’’ Fashola used a whopping N27 to N29 billion to build a one and a half kilometre stretch of bridge from Lekki to Ikoyi on a shallow corner of the lagoon. With that sum of money, the bridge is easily one of the most expensive kilometre-stretch of construction work on planet earth. It is even touted as a cable bridge, but it is not except for those who believe that orange and apple have no difference.
Fashola at some point will have to explain how he used N2 billion to build the Falomo ramp that is just few yards in length.Fashola will have to explain to the tax payers of Lagos, the rationale and economics of buying back the Lekki Road from the concessionaire, LCC. (From Tinubu) If all these are not breaking a bank’s vault in the middle of the night without compromising the locks, someone will have to tell me what it is.
Fashola abhor the mere mention of the FOI bill. Infact he even went to court to stress that the FOI bill has nothing to do with his administration since it is not binding. So much for a transparent progrethieve. Fashola & his oga Tinubu are the most clever crooks in the history of this country. And Gullible Followers (On Nairaland ONLY) will keep saying Fashola is working and comparing him with other working Govs. |

We see how bomb blast always occur as soon as GEJ is about to achieve or celebrate anything in Nigeria http://www.punchng.com/news/anti-jonathan-forces-behind-bombings-pdp/
WHAT IS AT STAKE IN 2015 FOR THE NORTH?
1) Most of the oil blocks in Nigeria are owned by the north and the licenses will expire in 2015, therefore a Northern Muslims must be in power in 2015 to ensure that this licenses are not withdrawn and shared properly when it expires.
2) A census will be conducted in 2015, and the true population of the north will be exposed, hence a Northerner has to be in power to be able to manipulate this.
We are no longer fools in Nigeria. The reason this administration is facing this much challenges is because it is making "PROGRESS" . This bomb tactics has expired, we sympathize with those who lost their loved ones but i want to tell the opposition that this will not give them the desired result they expect even if they wipe out all the children in the north.
We cant have leaders who have blood of innocent children on their hands ruling Nigeria. It will be a curse on our land.
I REPEAT I AM NOT A GEJ SUPPORTER, BUT THE CURRENT OPPOSITION IS NOT AN OPTION. |
