Politics › Re: APC May Lose In Lagos Next Year- APC Nat Legal Adviser Muiz Banire Warns by Firefire(m): 5:17pm On Nov 10, 2014 |
I will start from the fact that it does not encourage mobilisation in the party in the first instance.
Because the meaning is that rather than people going to their constituents to solicit for votes, they rather prefer to go to some leaders (Like Tinubu) lurking in one corner or the other to go and solicit tickets.
So you are not mobilising people into the system, to start with.
Secondly, people are not accountable to their constituents again because of the imposition. Because if you have a godfather who has imposed you on the people, it’s the godfather that you are accountable to and in most cases what you find out is that the accountability in that instance is a tribute.
That again does not boost the morale of the party members.
And thirdly, it causes a lot of factionalisation, unnecessary ones. And we’ve had the consequence once and I kept on saying it.
During the last local government elections, we had a similar experience. Some of our party member went to vote against our candidates. So it’s no news.
So it could wreak a lot of damage. |

Final word:
I want to encourage our people, particularly APC people, to shine their eyes.
They must shine their eyes this time around and not allow anybody to pull the wool over them.
They have their votes, their rights, and they must go all out to ensure that we have and enjoy free, transparent, and just primaries. And that whoever emerges must be the product of that process.
They must be ready. They shouldn’t feel intimidated by anybody because nobody is god.
For me, I want them to believe that there is God and all of us are creations of God and we have equal rights to aspire to anything.
And you need not have any godfather (Tinubu) before you can be anything, particularly in APC.
What you need are your constituents, once they support you, you must be able to sail through. Not until one godfather (Called Tinubu) or the other endorses you.

A very nice Monday Morning topic for discussion.
From all indication, Lagos State debt profile calls for urgent attention.
The Gearing Ratio of Lagos is in a critical mode.
The government of ACN now APC having ruled Lagos for SIXTEEN YEARS is being run in secrecy without accountability, openness and transparency.
I presume Lagos is mortgaged already.
Lagos been the vocal selling point of ACN/APC is in dear need of a Messiah.
APC Lagos can simply be regarded as wolf in sheep clothing. |

Firefire: Buhari started contesting for the presidency when he was 61 years old. At 72 years of age, 11 years and 3 tries later, he is still running – for the same position. The question that lingers in the minds of many Nigerians is: ‘why?’ Why is Buhari running for the same position over and over again? Does this reveal a quest for ultimate power by any means? Did he forget something in the State House? Is he suffering withdrawal symptoms? No answer yet to justify Nigerians voting for GMB |

“My view and the view of the CBN is that if we will have to use some of our reserves to support the currency, we will. No central bank governor will say that he will not support the currency but we want to be very clear in our minds and to the public that there is no country in the world that will allow its currency to be determined by the market. “Certainly, the currency is neither over-valued nor under-valued. We are not looking for a stronger currency nor a weaker one. We just want an anchor of expectations: people want to pay school fees; people want to import raw materials; investors wants to be able to predict the returns they would have on their investments; and we think ultimately that it is more important than having a reserve at $50 billion or $40 billion.“We will use the reserves and the interest rates and I believe we have gone through the most difficult period. Hopefully the next months will not be as difficult as the last one or two. We expect that the Naira will be maintained within our target band but the message is that we are committed to the stability of the exchange rate and we will not, unless we are forced, to allow the Naira to weaken. I think I should make that very clear.” $41. 7 foreign reserveThe CBN boss noted the decline in external reserves to the current $45.27 billion but said it was better that the $41.19 billion recorded at the end-September, last year.According to him, “the Committee (MPC) noted that this level of accretion is too low given the relatively high price of crude oil and further underscores the need for much-needed reform of the oil sector”, and said measures would be taken to address the unbridled demand for dollar in the foreign exchange market. MPC decisionsThe governor announced that the Monetary Policy Rate, MPR, was retained at 12.0 per cent with a symmetric corridor of 200 basis point around the MPR by the MPC. His words, “the Committee noted that the actions taken at the last MPC have served the purpose of helping the naira avoid the fate of other developing country’s currencies by keeping it relatively stable. It also noted the continued moderation in inflation and the benign outlook for the next six months.“The Committee decided by a vote of 11 members to hold the MPR at 12.0 per cent. One member voted to reduce the MPR by 50 basis points. 11 members voted to retain the symmetric corridor of 200 basis points around the MPR while one member voted for an asymmetric corridor of 200 basis points above the MPR and 400 basis points below the MPR. All members voted to retain the 50.0 per cent Cash Reserve Requirement (CRR) on public sector funds, and 12.0 per cent CRR on private sector deposits.” http://www.vanguardngr.com/2013/09/i-ll-not-devalue-the-naira-sanusi/ |

After Obasanjo I would give Jonathan the praise as Yaradua didn't spend is time to develop the nation infrastructure for us to understand the impact of his administration. In all ramification while looking at the three of them I would put their performances in descending order.
1) President Jonathan - for trying to put effort in developing the nation rather than increasing the foreign reserve only.
2) Presiden Obasajo - for clearing the debt to the lowest point ever at 3 billion dollars and growing the foreign reserve.
3) President Yaradua - for getting sick and died untimely (as an excuse for his performance).

Firefire: I will defend the Naira with reserves - Sanusi
The Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, CBN, Mal Sanusi Lamido Sanusi, has vowed to defend the Naira and was prepared to used the nation’s foreign reserve to ensure the currency’s stability.
Briefing the journalists at the end of the Monetary Policy Committee meeting in Abuja, Tuesday, he said that the argument of those pushing for the devaluation of the Naira did make any valid economic sense in an import-dependent country like Nigeria.
Mal. Sanusi insisted that the CBN would stick to its position unless forced to do otherwise.
His words, “as far as the Naira is concerned, the CBN has always said that we are committed to its stability. I know there are some people who don’t share that view. But I have not personally heard any economically valid argument as to the benefits of devaluating the Naira up to this point in time.
“It will not improve our export nor reduce our imports into the country. It will not improve our fortunes as long as our structural reforms have not been implemented.
“My view and the view of the CBN is that if we will have to use some of the our serves to support the currency, we will. No central bank governor will say that he will support the currency at all and every cost but we want to be very clear in our minds and to the public that there is no country in the world that will allow its currency to be just determined by the market.

bushdoc9919: It isn't GEJ'S fault per se....it is what you get when you rule over an oil dependent economy.....your economic advisers tell you that the oil money won't run out (Of course they lie).
Plus, oil economies over-import....which has the dual effect of raising the debt profile and stifling jobs.
Yes, OBJ grew our reserves. Nice...but a healthy bank account means nowt....when you could grow it more with investments.
My problem with Nigeria's leaders., past and present....they run Dutch diseased economies.
Whoever takes over in 2015....GEJ or Buhari....should appoint me as their Ministar of Finance and Economic planning( My salary is only N20million per week ).....and in turn....I will earn my keep by telling them to run this country as if there is no oil or any other natural resources.
In ten years time....our GDP will be 20 times bigger than what it is now (OK I exaggerate...but still!)....and Boko Haram , Kidnapping etc will be the acts of a minority of jokers. Guaranteed!
Oil is a curse. Dutch diseased disorder and they will never change... OIL is a CURSE! |
