The joy of every catfish farmer is to get sales for their catfish at harvest. However, many farmers finds it hard to sell off their catfish at harvest, thereby incurring additional cost. Catfish farmers are too quick to complain of rip-off and short changing by the duo of catfish market women and middle-men respectively while they are satisfy staying in their comfort zone. As an organisation which is also involved in catfish farming and processing; we have developed a solution from our experienced over the years on how to make profit in catfish farming. I gladly got enumerated cos the enumerator was once a prospective mentee. I can only hope that this is not just one of the many survey to collect data to be used by some top officials without actually getting to the real farmers. As you have rightly pointed out...Lagos has the least farms/farmers due to lack of accessible farmlands. Just few LGAs such as Badagry, Epe and Ikorodu can boast of farmlands and sadly, the Lagos State government has failed to establish new farm settlements to accomodate the younger generation. As we approach the close of the first phase of pioneering membership for the above proposed catfish association. I'm hopeful that a good number of challenges confronting the industry will be articulated alongside feasible solutions. More indication of interest are hereby welcome. Okwori12:Yes, since its just to gain experience. Hence do not mind your costs and efforts of getting ponds, either mobile or fixed, running water and your labour. I had mentee that started with such number and today they are scaling up. Howbeit, there is so much to learn. Everyday, many go online to advertise availability of their stocks ready for sales.... In desperation, they sell at give away prices for so many reasons...... Others come online seeking for guidance and free info on hatchery, disease control, feed formulation, etc.....
