ScotMisile:Since you are specific @ farming business(supply)....the first thing is to get at least few customers he/she is sure would buy it. With #20k, s/he should be able to service 20customers at #1k on smoked catfish with an estimated 10-15% return depending on location. |
Imagine you doing the cooking for your wife on her birthday even after 10years of a happy married life. Good women are wonderful. |

How well do you treat her when she request for that chicken and chips or shawarma. Interestingly, guys do all to please their girl while still getting her to say YES....taking her out to almost every eateries to satisfy her. But BOOM, once she becomes the wife, story story...lol For me, i ensure that she still gets that chicken...its just a matter of 30mins....rush to the next frozen chicken shop, buy a kilo, spice it and fry...BOOM...fried chicken is ready.... Treat your woman well and you will get the other room green card.....looolllll

You have just mentioned a very low risk business, "provision store". In this covid era, it is wise to choose essential services or products type of investment. You need no sootsayer. However, every businesses has their challenges and technicality. Location is KEY in provision store. My neighbour who is the major provision seller in my neighborhood, restock every other day. You can check my signature if you love to be a mentee or join my whatsapp group on Aspiring Entrepreneur. |
This is good to read. Weldone brother. Savings is a culture but investment is a future. I'm glad you were saving towards an investment until covid-19 showed its monster face. Do not relent once you're back to work and give it a shot to invest however little from your savings #10,000. |
The greatest fear of every investor is the assurance of the safety of their capital. Sadly, investors would rather choose to invest in mutual funds and its likes to avoid stories that touches. However, the fact remains that the neglected micro enterprises or informal sector contributes largely to a country's GDP yet because of their unstructured business, they lack the requisites to attract funding. Having worked in this informal sector for over 15years with different certification training at FATE Foundation, ALF Foundation, TEF Foundation, I'm qualified to guide both an investor and an entrepreneur on how to determine or present a viable business respectively. If the economy must grow with positive impact on the micro enterprises who are far closest to the consumers, their must be a system to cater for their financial needs to scaleup. Join me and let's change the paradigm. God bless Nigeria |

First, is this your first time of trying your hands on hatching? If yes( which i presume so), i must state that, newbies who fail to do the needful may suffer from such ignorance thereby giving room for some failed and inexperience acclaimed fish farmers to talk down on the industry. Few things you did wrong.... 1. Not securing the escape of fish... 2. Your security naivety in keeping two fishes together in a confined container.... 3. Female broodstock are more aggressive than their male counterpart not even after inoculation.... 4. You were not timing of the latent period of the female hence the entire release of her eggs... Let's see farming as a professional business and not mere hobby.... Get the right training and information. I hope by now, the second female and male should have been used. Share your current experience. Mubby4luv: |
As your name implies"weedsmoker"....very curious... Obviously, you cannot identify a real practicing farmer to an online farmer.....what a pity.... So sad profile... that you've managed many large farms including those of your F&F and non was a success.....whaooo...no wonder you had no success stories but regrets.... Visit the thread: Hidden truth about catfish farming"...you will see more of my comments... I do not think you worth who i should debate professional catfish farming with. Weedsmoker: |
I read this and wasn't impressed. Each paragraphs takes different positions and this makes the entire comments misunderstanding. You started by saying, "I'm yet to see...." If you haven't seen, it doesn't mean that their are no such successful catfish farmer. Tell me a legitimate business in production line that the owner within a year to three years got enough profit to achieve those things you mentioned. If you're really an entrepreneur or business owner with good knowledge of breakeven let alone profit making....you had known how long(minimum) of year(s) to start thinking of profit. You must have been deluded by such acclaimed successful business owner/entrepreneur, who actually got loan to buy car or build a house to showcase their business success... (The more you look, the less you see). Again, in your second paragraph, you affirm that if one is not into fingerlings production, he cannot make an headway, such is not even in the business yet...whaooo....what a conclusion. I find it tiring to reply all your comments in discouragement to the Op's question........ The fact remains, catfish business is a professional business but sadly many rushed into it believing this is farming/hobby and they are rushed out. They lack all the basics and fundamental experience to establish their farms having wrong orientation and mindset. @Ops, like any other professional business, catfish farming is profitable if you get the right knowledge and knowledge is not CHEAP. Slawormir:Meaning what ?....why are some individuals like this....seeing nothing good in good things. If those heroes are alive today, won't they wear facemasks..... On your own |
Asquare84:Professionally NO........ Its not just about feeding alone. Their are a number of circumstances that may arise with urgent attention. Get someone you can trust to assist while you're away if you value your investment. |
Greetings to everyone as we are striving as a people and nation globally to bring to end the Covid-19 global pandemic. In Nigeria, particularly Lagos, Ogun and FCT(Abuja), its been over a month now that these States have been on lockdown yet, God has been faithful in providing for our survival. Covid-19 has indeed shown the world that FOOD, remains the greatest need/desire of mankind for survival irrespective of age and societal status. Oil, gold, cars and jewelries are secondary desires/wants. Regrettably, most African governments and we the people had over the decades played lip attention to developing the agricultural sector for abundant food production and supply. Consequently, as we look forward to the post covid era, it is my sincere wish that the government and the citizenry will begin to look inward in developing the entire agricultural sector and its value chains. Are you intending to start homestead or commercial catfish farming and needed a professional consultation. Give us a call or chat 081-537-0613 for all enquiries and assistance
