Oga Inspired, I consider this your comment insensitive and I am being modest at that! I checked again to be sure it was you that typed that with your signature font size and color.

Except you are being sracstic, the comment did not show any feeling of sympathy towards your numerous customers. If anything, it portrays you as being interested just in our pockets. Sorry if I am too harsh. I am not just a big fan of yours but a customer who has tasted a good service from you. Granted that you may not be so affected as you will never sell at a loss, but I am already feeling bad as I may not be able to buy the two cars I planned for next year if the effects of this policy is anything to go by!

I am affected by this policy and I feel bad about it truth be told. While the policy has a thrust in the betterment of the country on the long run, the Implementation was not well thought out. There should be some give and take if truly it is meant for the populace. Now where is the Nigerian made vehicle that I will buy in 2014? Innoson?

Well 2014 is truly our year of prosperity and we shall rise above every obstacles.

^^^Touche!
I don't need any forgiveness man. All I am saying is that I don't want a 3 cylinder engine for N2.95M. That car is I will pick the Yaris for N3.2 without blinking. There is not alluring to me in the 301. I make bold to repeat that it is my choice and I have no regret.

It's good to know you agree the 301 is no match for the Corolla and that is the simple reason I chose Corolla when asked to choose! The allure and the active 301 will still not cut it for me. I will rather add 500k to go with the Corolla t N3.99. If everyone is a lion, what then will they feast on? wink

^^^I would have gone with the same choices as Sienna's with the exception of the 301. My preference will easily be the Corolla as I don't see myself riding a 3 cylinder car with manual window controls in this age! Please don't crucify me its my choice anyway, others may like it. Besides, the Corolla has gained some reputation of reliability at this side of the world.
Car TalkRe: 2013 Abuja Int'l Motor Fair: Compare Car Brands. by Fixed: 11:13pm On Oct 28, 2013
I was there too. The 508 is pretty and nice. Decent and truly alluring. However, that thing they called 301 is a huge disappointment! I found it very hard to believe that a 1.2ltr 3 cylinder car can be shipped to Nigeria in the name of emerging market. No, no, no. I will rather go buy a used 09 Accord with my N3M than that car.

Car TalkRe: Andvise Before He Wastes His Money On LR3 by Fixed: 1:22am On Sep 28, 2013
Why do I have this funny feeling that it is the poster that wants to buy this SUV! grin

Clearly, the biggest issues with the LR3 is the shocks and the thirst for fuel. I don't have one but online reviews revealed a lot about its reliability particularly earlier models like 05/06.

I believe if you have close to N4m to buy a vehicle without taking a loan, then fueling whatever engine capacity it came with should be affordable to you. You don't eat the food meant for an elephant and expect to defecate half the size of an antelope. grin

On the shocks, it will make sense to do a finding locally on how often and the conditions that make them to go out as well as the cost of replacement. Do your research outside nairaland. Go to mech, workshops. Talk with owners. I've had cause to stop drivers of some particular vehicles to obtain information and they gladly and truthfully obliged me in most cases. But don't generalize with one sample please as conditions defer.

Lastly, have you noticed that adverts on LR3 particularly on nairaland have been on Nigerian used? What does it tell, people want some else. The initial gra gra and swagg cool off within 12 months as reality set in. The hunger for the effizi would have simmer down. Then you realize you don't really need that 8 seater to go to work. It now dawns on you that you never get to use the terrain selector as you will never visit the jungle. The fascinating scenic and panoramic view of the roof is no longer appealing but just generating heat and overworking your air conditioner. By now you wonder why 4th mechanic is yet to get the same issue right. Though the big boy feeling is there, you wonder if people realized that the price is high. Just then, a Venza drives past and you secretly admire the driver, a guy like you, wearing a snow white long sleeve with dark glasses to match. As if you committed a crime, your mind tells you that your LR3 appears to be fading away as people don't ride'em too bulky and old any longer. The sleeker the better nowadays. Going gently, the days of the huge and boxy ones. Even Range Rover knows this so they came out with the Evoque.

Nuzo, if you must get an LR3, then get an alternative car with it. I beg join.

Car TalkRe: Where Can One Get SAE 5W30 Engine Oil Here In Nigeria...? by Fixed: 11:37pm On Sep 27, 2013
^^^Ikenna you are right on point. I have seen where they opened the cover of these Mobil 1 Jerry can I such a way that the tamper proof remained intact. The aim is to pour in a less expensive oil and resell as Mobil 1 to unsuspecting motorists since it is more expensive.

Please be careful so that you don't buy a bigger problem while trying to solve a smaller one. I use Mobil XHP and it performs just fine for my engine. And the specification is still 5W-20!
Car TalkRe: Questions On 2007 Honda Accord by Fixed: 11:13pm On Sep 27, 2013
I use 05 V6. That car is superb. Truly some parts are different from the 4 cylinder at the engine side. But the costs are not outrageously too expensive when compared to the other. In fact, part replacement do not even happen often except the car you are getting has been overused and has racked up high mileage. If you can get one at 100k miles or below, you will enjoy it.

As for fuel economy, the difference is there but not unbearable at all. Please trust me because I have driven both. What more, I enjoy the power of the V6. Take off - super, Passing power - so good you'll wonder if any other car can do better, and the fuel economy - I get over 400miles or about 650 km from my full thank on the highway!

Please go for it, no regrets and by the way I have done about 80k miles in 3yrs and 8 months of ownership of my 05 V6 accord.
Car TalkRe: Between Kaduna And Lagos State, Where Can I Buy The Cheapest Car by Fixed: 10:50pm On Sep 27, 2013
If you stay in the north, precisely from Kogi/Abuja upwards, it appears it is cheaper for you to buy cars below N1 million from Kaduna. I just got a 1997 Golf 3, Wagon, manual, no AC for a friend to be used for transport purpose. I got it for 560K which was the best deal I could get from Lagos as well. I consider this a good deal considering the fact that I would have needed at least N35k to drive it unregistered up north, that is OD for kelebe (custom boys), police and soldiers - dem don follow join now, no thanks to Boko Haram. These people no longer have any respect for valid duty certificate.

A word of caution for you anyway, most Kaduna cars, especially smaller vehicles, do not have original custom papers as clearing seriously reduce their profit. I learnt a number of their vehicles come in through Niger Republic.

An alternative to your request is to ask Lagos Dealers for prices and compare with your findings in Kaduna.

My 2-penny sir.
Car TalkRe: Choosing Between Ford 2003 Explorer And Camry 2006, Which Is Better Pls. by Fixed: 2:59am On Sep 05, 2013
I beg to disagree with some assertions made above.
First, people have an impression that bad roads does not affect the maintenance cost of SUVs. This is so wrong, but I will leave the proof for another day.
Second, the best highway mpg you can get from a 4.6ltr Explorer is between 18-20 compared to the 2.4ltr engine Camry where you get 30mpg. As a matter of fact, it is worse for the Explorer if most of your journey is within the city - you end up with 13mpg while you can get as much as 22mpg from the "Big Daddy".
I have driven the Explorer for weeks. It is a huge vehicle. The ride height is high and the limited option has got many waa ohs than the full 2006 XLE Camry will give you. But the Xplorer is not a practical vehicle and I am being sincere with you. You need to be sure of a particular space before you park. Fueling and maintenance is more expensive than the Camry. While it can navigate amost any jungle, there is ride a noticeable truck feeling in the ride. Though due to no fault of the Xplorer, the engine of the Camry is obviously easier to maintain for our mechanics who are always scared of V6, Much less the V8 power house in the ford.

My take:
Go for theExplorer if -
1. You need to do regular offroading, I am not talking of the normal portholes that both cars and SUVs all drive through and still end up at the mechanics'
2. You regularly carry heavy luggages
3. You need space to keep some stuffs (not legroom because Camry has it in abundance - remember Big for Nothing or for something)
4. Your family consists of grown-ups that do not need to be helped into the vehicle.
5. Overall I agree that the Explorer may last longer with some cool cash. So does the Camry too if you have a good maintenance habit.

Go for the Camry if -
1. You mind lower maintenance and running costs - sincerely some people don't mind
2. Your daily commute is within the city and the potholes on your everyday routes cannot swallow you tires
3. You don't have the time to start looking for Ford mechanic as almost all mechanics can handle Toyota assuming you find any good one anyway
4. You don't mind the plain bland interior or dashboard design of the Big Daddy - sorry to bust your bubble, I do mind!
Finally, You can jump in and out of the Camry and take a quick dash to the corner shop to buy tooth paste - but with the Explorer, you will rather walk down. That is what I meant by practicality. Get behind the wheels of one before you order for it and be sure you like it. I may have taken it too personal anyway.

Note: It really makes no sense comparing An SUV with A Sedan. I only did based on the considerations you listed. But always do your own research so you can on your own make an informed judgement.

If you are not a fraudster you must be related to one. Answering different names for different adverts is sure an attribute of a scam.

Ozo-Emeka you are right sir. If I speak in an unknown tongue and any or both of us understand, it is no longer an unknown tongue! Except we are blessed with the gift of the interpretation of tongues. Believers do not be confused. Man may be hearing GIBERRISH-ES, howbeit we speak MYSTERIES! That's what God says and I stand on it.
Christianity EtcRe: Leave Any Church That Speaks In Tongues(gibberish) by Fixed: 2:48am On Jul 29, 2013
@op, it appears you seek to interpret the word of God with human logic. I am not sure if your post is with the intention to edify the body of Christ or to prove a perceived point. Please study the background and context of scriptures before interpreting them. The guidance of the Holy Spirit is most important as His mandate is to guide us into all truth. John 16:13.
In as much as I Cor 14 portion of the scriptures is revealing, note that it was also written to correct some disorderliness in Corinth (read I Cor 14:40). Truly the Bible is complete for our edification and instruction. But we do not have the full details of what happened that Paul was correcting. The Corinthians did not have the new testament part of the scriptures as we have it today. That is why Paul always admonish his converts to continue in what they learned from him. I Tim 4:14. Their understanding then was sometimes limited to how they thought doctrines should be practised. But for us, we have the scriptures and the Holy Ghost I Tim 3:16. The Corinth church members were speaking to each other with unknown tongues same way they heard the disciples did in Acts 2:4 but no one understood or interpreted them. It was a complete chaos! Yes it came with the infilling of the Holy Ghost also.
Wait for this, the disciples did not speak with an unknown tongue in Acts 2:4 as mistaken by many! Read it again please. They spoke with other tongues - languages not understood by the speaker but naturally understood by the people around them. The same Holy Spirit gives utterance for other tongues and unknown tongues. Sir, the unknown tongue Paul referred to is not understood by any man including the speaker. I Cor 14:2 Sure unknown tongues can be interpreted to a known tongue if the Holy Spirit gives you the gift of interpretation of tongues as in I Cor 12:8-11. Indeed, Paul did not expect the church at Corinth to naturally interpret unknown tongues the same way they speak it 'so naturally', that is why he asked them to PRAY to be able to interpret it. I laughed when you said speaking in an unknowm tongue is not about prayer. What then is speaking unto God about in v2? For your information, you need not interpret the unknown tongue you prayed or even sang in! You only need to pray/sing in your natural language JUST for your understanding to be fruitful. I Cor 14:14-15. Please note that Praying in tongues also builds you up as clearly stated in Jude v20.
One good point your post brought out is the superiority of prophecy over unknown tongues and that is only the area of edifying all. This however is a gift that you need to covet as it does not flow naturally like the speaking in tongue which Paul instructed us not to forbid!
Paul spoke in tongues more than they all, his tongues were not all interpreted as they were communion between him and God.
If you ask me, the most inspiring in the entire chapter is the opening phrase "Follow after charity" or "Pursue love" New KJV. Mind you chapter 14 is just a continuation of 13. Love is the greatest gift of all.
I pray God gives us understanding.
My thumb is itching as I am using a Nokia phone.

Car TalkRe: Between Ford E250 And Peugeot Boxer Which One Is Better by Fixed: 6:52pm On Jul 22, 2013
Sorry for the disjointed post, accidental clicks of the mouse

4. Oil service is cheap, 1 gallon of Mobil XHP oil (petrol engine) with Peugeot filter. The service is done at the end of two return trips (Abuja/Jos - Lagos - Abuja/Jos/Gboko/Kaduna/Zaria is a return trip.
5. Brake pads lasts only one return trip but sold for only N1,500.
6. Regular maintenance of the break linings at the back and the shafts are very important. It is also at every other return trip. Parts and workmanship may run up to N10k.
7. Expect some damages within the month - Broken mirror, deformed tire or rim, broken lights, leaking hoses, bashed body, bulbs etc. These cost money. I have paid N25k to LASTMA for offences like missing seat belt and driving against traffic. I paid to get my vehicle out because my driver committed the offence.
8. At some point, you get report of arrests by LASTMA, police, FRSC and threats from local boys generating funds for local government in the name of frivolous permits like radio and tv permit.

I actually pay my current driver N60k or N15k per week
At the harvest season which starts around April/May and runs till mid December, they can do about six return trips in a month. Each trip with Agbero deduction from source is about N45k if they are sincere. fuel/diesel per trip is about N20k - yes its not up to but they will make sure they collect that much one way or the other. For a return trip, you get N50k and for 6 return trips, you get about N300k in a month.

From N350k, deduct N60k for driver salary, he settles his motor boy and deduct another N60k as maintenance for the month if your bus is very good. you are then left with about N200k. The scenario above is still Ceteris Paribus -ALL THINGS BEING EQUAL!

To be continued sir...

Car TalkRe: Between Ford E250 And Peugeot Boxer Which One Is Better by Fixed: 6:28pm On Jul 22, 2013
I am sorry I have no idea of Ford E250 but let me feed you on Peugeot boxer:

Let me start by saying my experience covers the use of Boxer for haulage from the Middle-belt (Plateau, Benue and Nassarawa states) to Ijora/Ketu and other parts of Lagos. I must say that transport business is not for the faint-hearted and perhaps it requires your time, sound knowledge of the particular area of interest coupled with good judgment and firmness in decision taking. Commercial drivers are the most difficult worker to handle! They tell you stories upon stories while they are milking you dry! If you have the capacity to handle drivers and also have shock absorbers for surprises, then read on otherwise close the chapter right here. Please note that I am not scaring you but ust getting you prepared.

A very sound diesel powered boxer will cost you about N800k while one with a petrol-powered engine will cost you N1.4M. You will soon know the reason for this wide disparity. After buying the bus, you must do some work on it such as - adding more springs to raise the vehicle as it will be overloaded whether you are there or not. I tell you this is what kills these transport vehicles. Each spring costs N12k and you may add up to three to each side.
1. Together with the U-bolts and workmanship, set apart N80k for the springs.
2. Commercial Plate number with the hackney permit depending on routes, N50k.
3. Believe it or not, I buy used tires as the 4 new tires I bought for N100k did not last a return trip! I changed all my tires, and 2 rims. Used tires cost N60k for 6 and 4 rims costs N60k as well. This is because, the standard is 2 spare tires. If you will be carrying vegetables, you need to make some benches for N10k. Oil service is cheap
