PoliticsRe: Abia Governorship Election Supreme Court Hearing & Possible Judgment by fizzile(m): 1:53pm On Feb 03, 2016
Am sorry to say this, its just unfortunate that some of u r so myopic and don't write intellectually. So because Ikpeazu constructed few roads in Aba now makes him a Great Governor? What's the internally generated revenue in the state? What has he done in other areas of Abia? Am so embarassed that most of u are more concerned about where a candidate is from and forget the future of Abia. When Ikpeazu was in ASEPA what did he do? So because he is using cement and gravel on the streets of Aba,it now makes him one superb governor. Go to akwa ibom and u will see world class roads. Go to umuahia and look at infrastructural decay, take a look at the schools in abia. All most of u clamour for is someone fron ukwa ngwa. God have mercy. I wonder if abians r going forward or backward.

nwadiuko1:
in order to actually have an unbiased grasp of what really happened during the elections in Abia...., we need to know the voting pattern/ strength of the state, We have to understand what is happening from
the historical perspective of Abia State politics.
Abia is divided into two distinct blocs - the old
Bende Division and the old Aba Division. The
old Bende Division has eight local government
areas and the old Aba Division has nine.
Abia North is exclusively old Bende, Abia South
is exclusively old Aba; and then in Abia Central,
we have three local government areas from
each of the two divisions. This is the
composition of Abia State.
Starting from the First Republic, Dr M. I.
Okpara, Premier of Eastern Region, was from
old Bende Division and when you come to the
period of the military rule, Commodore Ebitu
Ukiwe, Admiral Ndubuisi Kanu, Major General
Ike Nwachukwu, Amadi Ikweche, Admiral
Chijioke Kaja, Navy Captain Osondu were all
from old Bende.
Also, the first civilian governor of Abia State, Dr.
Ogbonnaya Onu, is from old Bende, before the
creation of Ebonyi State, when his community
became part of today’s Ebonyi State.
Civilian governors

The remaining former civilian governors, Orji
Uzor Kalu and Theodore Ahamefule Orji, were
also both from old Bende though under the
current political division, Kalu is from Abia
North while Orji is from Abia Central.
So, this has been the issue. No Ngwa person
had governed the state. All they have produced
since the days of the late Chief Sam Onunaka
Mbakwe of old Imo State were deputy
governors.

The two deputy governors that Mbakwe had, Dr
Agbalaha and Chief Paul Uzoigwe, were all from
Ngwa land. It is as if the rest of the state is
saying that the old Aba cannot produce the
governor of the state. So, Abians came together
and felt that it is fair that the current governor
of Abia State should come from Ngwa land,
from old Aba Division, especially from Abia
South, or if you like, from Ukwa Ngwa. This is
based on rotation.

During the last election, practically all the
political parties chose their governorship
candidates from Abia South as a sign that
everyone accepts the need for fairness based
on rotation. So, for the first time they had the
chance and they voted overwhelmingly for their
son.

So, for someone to say suddenly that this thing
they have been dreaming of and got is no
longer so is unacceptable, to them.
This is part of the tension, especially because
they were or about to be denied this
opportunity. Obingwa, the local government
area of origin of the governor, Dr Okezie
Ikpeazu, and the two neighbouring LGAs,
Isialangwa North and Osisioma, which is his
natural base, the votes of these three local
government areas, which favoured him
overwhelmingly, were totally cancelled by the
Court of Appeal.

This means that Ikpeazu, his wife, family and
relatives did not vote for him. Another issue
here is the voting pattern of Abia State. We all
know that to win a governorship election in
Abia State, you must win Obingwa and Bende.
Otti won in Bende and Ikpeazu won
overwhelmingly in Obingwa, his local
government of origin, only for the court to
cancel it, in addition to Osisioma and
Isialangwa North.

Now, when you look at the voting strength of
these three LGAs, it is one-third of the entire
voting strength of Abia State. So, there is
nowhere A or B can win Abia governorship
election without the result of one-third of the
state’s voting strength.........let justice prevail!!
You are simply talking trash. Do u think supreme court has time for all this analysis? What's their business with where the candidates are from? And if I may ask u,how come the REC cancelled results in those areas under contention? How come the number of votes cast were much more higher than the number of accredited voters uploaded on the inec database? People just sit and write with all manner of patisanship and self centredness. Am ashamed dat all some of u focus on is where and where a candidate is from. So because Okezie is constructin 3rd grade roads in Aba now makes him a perfect Governor. What has he done in other areas in Abia state? If u want to see world class roads,go to Akwa Ibom. Some of u r just so myopic.

Pls you guys who have gotten a Phd Admission to US schools should kindly share interview experience/questions asked during the online/telephone interview by the universities before the admission offer. This is to enable some of us to be better prepared.

Guys, nipost does wonders these days. I dropped an application to be posted to Germany at their office on the 11th of jan. The lady attendant told me it would arrive there in 2 weeks. However, on the 21st, the school mailed me that they had received the package. How incredible! I was really impressed. This was at a cost of N680 only. To imagine that I had previously paid 11,000(general discounted price) and 8,500(student price) on different occasions for posts to the same country through DHL. I reflexively yelled "f*** dhl!". #TeamNipost
R u for real? Am getting confused which to use.

did you use NIPOST? call the school, they might have gotten the parcel. i was in this mess too last Dec..sent 4 documents to 4schools, on the tracking website it was saying 'in ISC Newyork' I called the schools, it happend 2 schools got it within 3 weeks that I sent it and 2 schools didnt. so I had to send another doc via dhl to 2 schools that didnt get it. now that I saw your post I just remembered my doc sucked in isc and I tracked the 2. 1 just got delivered this year precisely Jan 26, 2016 since OCt 2015. the 2nd is still in transit. lol..my advise..just send another one with DHL after confirming that the recipient have not gotten it..its 8k and it takes just 3days
Its obvious that DHL is the very best to use.

Good to hear. I would advice you write GRE and apply to US schools during your last semester in University. Goodluck in your search.
I don't think the young man needs such advice. People should not be in a hurry to travel out. Let d young man finish school den take his time and plan himself. What of those sponsoring him? Don't u tink they will also need to plan themselves? Don't advice him wrongly. First tnz first. Let d guy finish his first degree. How about his transcript? Won't he send it to WES and to the department of the school? Let's advice him to tk d step gradually.

Am new on bs iraland and just signed up now cause my bestie just told me this is where I can get results..I have a Bachelors degree in Economics from the University of Abia State in Uturu,my CGPA is 3.15.I also have a Masters Degree in Economics from the University of Lagos and my result is 3.17. I intend to pursue a doctorate degree(PHD)in Economics in the United States. Can someone PLEASE guild me through on how to go about it. I hear one may write exams, please I want to be guided so I don't make mistakes.God bless y'all.
Well, first of all u need to set some targets. When do u intend going? What's your financial capability like? Cos u have to check for schools with reasonable tuition,a school that fits ur career goal aswell, except u want to attend a school where tuition is 30,000dollars per session. Set those targets, den search for some schools online, check their requirements, register for either gre, gmat, and toefl. Most schools waive toefl but u must write one standardized test. Be ready to either evaluate ur transcripts or send them directly to the schools. If I were u,I will pickout about 10 to 15 schools then check their requirements and check the course details then scrutinize very well and bring it down to about 5 schools bearing in mind tuition, cost of living, and a few other factors. Then apply to those schools and ur joni begins from there. These are processes one can do...so don't think of paying any so-called agent. I was in the same shoe but this forum really helped me.

If u r in lagos try and attend their free lecture on wednesday by 9am,go with ur international passport and ur transcript. Then if u want to register, the lady will tell u wot next to do. Valparaiso university. D skul make sense . Do you know about education usa on evaluation?
The thing about educationusa is that most schools require u to register with educationusa at the usa embassy den educationusa will mail d school dat u hv registered with them. The total cost should be roughly 35k. Minnesota state university is one school that requires applicants from Nigeria to register with educationusa. I don't know if educationusa evaluate result but what I know is u must come with ur transcript before u can be registered.

Why WES take longer time is during the verification period. Because they send your document back to your UG school for verifications through unregistered regular mail and this takes like 2weeks or more to get to naija. It may even get lost on transit. This is where students do think their schools is very slow in replying WES whereas they may not have gotten any verification materials from WES. My best advice for you is to pay $60 for your verification documents to be sent to naija(if you be OBO like one of my padi here). It will get to naija in 3days and your school go reply at worst 3-5days after receiving..

WES receives your transcript & cert and verify your documents for 7days(Verification in progress) ->> send it back to your school for verification (14days or forever) ->> WES receives reply from your school(wait for like 24hrs for an update in your profile on WES portal) ->> Evaluation in progress(7days) ->> Transcript Evaluated and ready. So count the total days together..
See processes. Cheeiiii. Meanwhile if naa IERF,once you send ur transcript through ur UG school, they receive and start evaluating. U can even photocopy your certificate and ask ur UG school to attach it and send. They even mailed me dat they evaluate with the certificate. And that everything is within 15working days. WES is cool but their stress no be here. Am considering deadline aswell.

WES seems to be the conventional evaluator used by most schools. Why not use them (WES) to have a reasonable evaluation and/or in case a school tells you all they want is WES or ECE.
My problem is the delay. My school didn't specify which to use. My school even stated that I should note that WES delays, meaning they know WES delays a lot. IERF doesn't write back to ur UG school. Once they get an official document from the UG school, they are ok with that and they take 15 working days to evaluate.

true but WES said they are yet to establish a working term with my undergraduate school(Lead City) so I had to resort to ECE
And one thing with WES is this issue of writing back to your school to verify the documents. Most times it takes the school so long either to receive the mail or to write back to WES.

ECE was cool,it took less than a month to conclude the evaluation..they also use same verification process like WES,ur school must attest to ur transcript
Less than a month? That's serious. The problem will have to do with the period the school will have to respond to the verification.
TravelRe: General U.s.a (student) Visa Enquiries-part 8 by fizzile(m): 6:21pm On Jan 19, 2016
anikemoses:
like I said earlier,I am only conversant with WES and ECE,if u have signed up on WES go and check if ur schools are listed on the evaluation list that WES works with, else it will be a wasted effort..for ECE I had a Cgpa of 3.62/5 and after evaluation I got 3.10/4..I think WES would have been a bit higher coz of their grading criteria
Since your conversant with WES, what's the delay rate like? Cos I heard it takes somuch time for WES to evaluate. Heard they will have to write to the school to verify if the transcript is from them, the school will now have to reply them before they start evaluating. How true is that? Cos I believe all those will really delay the evaluation process.
