The Senator representing Kwara South in the National Assembly, Senator Simeon Sule Ajibola was in the wee hours of Friday declared as the state’s governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for the 2015 general election.
Ajibola in a keenly contested primary polled 144 votes to defeat other aspirants like Dele Belgore (SAN) who emerged the runner up with 130 votes.

Other results as announced by the panel Chairman, Governor Gabriel Suswam of Benue State were Senator Gbemisola Rukayyat Saraki (113), Senator Mokanjuola Ajadi (107), Professor Oba Abdulraheem (58), Hon. Bio Ibrahim (45), Engineer Jani Ibrahim (27), Alhaji Hakeem Lawal (13), Deacon John Dara (four), Sunday Babalola (three) and Kale Belgore (one) while Sanusi Abdullahi got no vote.

The election earlier scheduled for Monday could not hold following the outbreak of violence which prompted the postponement. It was rescheduled and took place at the same venue, Arca Santa Events Centre along Ajasse-Ipo road in the presence of fully armed security operatives.

PoliticsRe: Critical Things Former President Obasanjo Said About President Jonathan In by fkaz(op):
On the Nigerian Governors Forum election crisis:

Two governors from the [PDP] - Liyel Imoke of Cross River and Emmanuel Uduaghan of Delta States - and Godswill Akpabio from Akwa Ibom State by himself, came to me in Abuja, appealing to me to intervene in the situation of the Governors’ Forum, particularly in the disagreement within the PDP governors. Akpabio said starkly in his frank and outspoken manner: “We have messed up and don’t leave us alone. For me, I don’t want to go to jail and my children are too young. I will report our meeting to the President.” Nobody, including President Jonathan, would like to go to jail, and he knew he could, depending on how things turned out or failed to shape from then on.

I have always seen the Governors’ Forum as a type of trade union as they behave that way most of the time. [Jonathan] told the story of how Obong Atta was relieved of his position as chairman and Lucky Igbinedion was enthroned by less than fifty percent of the governors, and of how Bukola Saraki manoeuvred the Forum to serve his presidential ambition.
PoliticsCritical Things Former President Obasanjo Said About President Jonathan In by fkaz(op):
Due to the nature of the content, an ally of President Jonathan attempted to use a court order to block the publication of the book. President Jonathan also personally contacted the former president to appeal that the book not be published until next year, after the 2015 presidential election. Despite this My Watchlaunched yesterday, Dec. 9, in Lagos, in the presence of prominent political figures and officials.

Review of the three-volume text by SaharaReporters noted that the elder statesman holds nothing back, characterizing Mr. Jonathan as weak, callous and incapable of managing Nigeria.
He also criticizes the handling of the Boko Haram insurgency crisis, the PDP, and the Governors Forum, among other things. Excerpts from some of the most significant critiques are below.

On President Jonathan's character:

Jonathan is lacking in broad vision, knowledge, confidence, understanding, concentration, capacity, sense of security, courage, moral and ethical principles, character and passion to move the nation forward on a fast trajectory. Although he might wish to do well, he does not know how nor does he have the capacity to. To compound his problem he has not surrounded himself with aides sufficiently imbued with the qualities and abilities to help him out. Most of them are greedy hangers-on or hungry lacklustre characters interested only in their mouths and their pockets

President Jonathan can still make amends to save himself, many of his associates in government, his government, and the nation. If, in the end, he fails he will have no one but himself to blame. He has great opportunities, many of which only come once in a lifetime; and if he misses them it will only be due to his inadequacy, myopia, personal interest and self-aggrandisement, lack of sagacity, wisdom. I hope he can and will avoid having any cause for regret.

The longest period that I have met one-on-one with the president was for one hour and ten minutes. That whole time, the president talked about nothing that was in the interest of Nigeria; instead he kept pointing out his supposed enemies and various matters that would not serve his interests. I could not stop myself from blurting out: “Mr. President, no Nigerian should be your enemy. You have to rule over all of them whether or not they like you. Please, you have to be like rain falling on good and bad people alike.”

An elder statesman who formed a close relationship with President Jonathan very early in his presidency came to the conclusion, after six months, that the president has not got what it takes to lead. It was the same elder statesman who reportedly tried to jolt the president into action by telling him that there were five presidents in Nigeria, and these were his wife the first lady, Deziani, Oduah, Ngozi and the president himself, and that he was the weakest of the five.

On corruption:

In the area of corruption, we have been going back steadily from the inception of Yar’Adua’s administration when the ‘hunter’ became the ‘hunted’. But under Jonathan we seem to have gone from frying pan to fire. If in the past corruption was in the corridors of power, it would seem now to be in the sitting room, dining room and bedroom of power.

If what is called ‘corruption’ is stealing , under the watch of Goodluck Jonathan, then government has become legalised and protected robbery.

The presidency had instructed EFCC to remove a vital document in Gbenga Daniel’s file in their custody, to assist getting Gbenga Daniel off the hook. All these cases were reported to the president and were known to him; but because they involve the president’s interests, directly or indirectly, no action has been taken.

With the 2011 elections, heavy financial prices were paid to Lagos and Ondo State opposition political leaders to secure the vote for the president, against the interest of PDP at the state level...The situation where the president surreptitiously invited Bola Tinubu, lifting him at night by presidential aircraft from Lagos to Abuja to hatch a plan for Bola to support one PDP presidential candidate at the expense of all other PDP candidates for any office in Lagos, can only be described as obscene, unethical, corruption-ridden and a show of bad leadership...
Whatever amount of money was given to Bola Tinubu to procure votes for the 2011 presidential election in Lagos was, to say the least, unnecessary. What made this phenomenon particularly bad was that government had raised the money from government transactions which fuel corruption.

I got a warning that this administration was attempting to induce two of my daughters, including Iyabo, to do a dirty job. I warned them both against it, but because of her character, the influence of her mother and her attitude, Iyabo succumbed; the other daughter did not.

On the Boko Haram insurgency, the insecurity crisis, and
#BringBackOurGirls:

I was in Sierra Leone on the day Boko Haram [bombed] the UN building in Abuja. As soon as I returned to Nigeria I called the inspector-general of police to hear his views on the issue. I was not impressed with his explanation. I also talked to the then national security adviser and his explanation was substantially blank. I went to Jonathan, the president, on the same issue. His reaction, and his view that Boko Haram were ‘a bunch of riffraffs’ left me even colder.

The one incident that overtly and graphically exposed the ineptitude, ineffectiveness, inefficiency, carelessness, cluelessness, callousness, insensitivity and selfishness of Goodluck Jonathan was the abduction of about 276 school girls from Chibok in Borno State by Boko Haram. The reaction and attitude of our president and his household was non-belief, to the extent that 18 days passed before he grudgingly concede to accept the reality of the abduction. If serious action had been taken within 48 hours, the story could have been different.

I was not surprised that the president went dancing twenty-four hours after the Nyanya explosion that took seventy-five lives. I also found believable the statement allegedly credited to the president after both the Nyanya explosion and the Chibok school girls abduction to the effect that since some people in the North had said that they would make Nigerian ungovernable, they could keep on killing and abducting each other.

If these girls are not released, it will be a big dent on the presidency of Goodluck Jonathan, and a dark blot on Nigeria’s reputation and history; and, for years and indeed decades,

Nigeria will continue to live with the agony and memory of the action and inaction of leadership regarding the Chibok school girls. But what is more, a bad precedent would have been created; Boko Haram has tasted blood and will always want more… Who knows, another group of terrorists might have learned from Boko Haram. This time it is Chibok; next time it could be Ibogun or Otueke.

Vice-President Biden had categorically told Jonathan during the African Summit in Washington in August 2014 that with the state of his governance and the level of the destruction of the military, they would not be able to help Nigeria.

On PDP and party politics:

A political party, and its leadership, that condones corruption and engages discredited people to abuse and insult genuine, authentic and objective critics is a political party on the path of ruin and destruction. The PDP must be rescued from that path, otherwise it will soon fade into history. Criticism, particularly objective criticism, is an indispensable element of democracy and a democratic dispensation.

PDP would need to be brought back to being a well-led, disciplined and respected, harmonious party that can easily win elections, rule and govern, and not one sacrificing the party’s interest for personal gain, setting governors of the party against each other, supporting candidates of other parties against candidates of the party as it happened in Lagos, Edo and Ondo States, and harassing credible leaders of the party and seeking to replace them with criminals and dubious characters in order to further presidential interests.
Nairaland GeneralGumi Chides Zakzaky, Says Processions Blocking Traffic Cannot Be Righteous Or Re by fkaz(op): 3:10pm On Dec 10, 2014
An Islamic scholar, Sheik Abubakar Gumi, has accused the Head of the Shiite Islamic sect in Nigeria, Mallam Ibraheem El-Zakzakky, of being a bad influence on fellow Muslims in the country, saying that he was a candidate for hell unless he repented.

Gumi said in a condolence letter to El-Zakzakky over the reported recent killing of his three children in Kaduna yesterday that he (El-Zakzakky) had introduced a lot of bad innovations among Nigerian Muslims, adding that rather than unite, such bad influences were dividing the Islamic faithful.

The letter read in part: “After registering my condolences on the recent loss of your three children, who were gunned down by some elements in the military, I find it an obligation to help you see that some of your actions too are the contributing factors in this unfortunate avoidable tragedy.

“What I fear most for you and your followers is that the consequence of this tragedy may further alienate your group from the mainstream society and create a cult—if it is not already one — with disastrous consequences on you, your followers and the nation at large. For you especially, on the Day of Judgment you will have your account to answer.

Bad innovations

“My brother, you have brought a lot of bad innovations among Nigerian Muslims that rather than unite, the Muslims are further entrenching the divide without any added value to the worldly development nor the hereafter, but rather with serious theological implications in the hereafter.

“What triggered my attention to your group now is the most recent close encounter I had with a procession of your followers on the highway from Kano to Zaria yesterday (December 8, 2014) on my way to Dutse (Jigawa State). About four to six thousand youths and children trekking long distance for hours. I gave a two-hour lecture in Dutse and met them still trekking on my way back.

“I cannot understand under which civil or religious law you have the right and liberty to block one side of the double carriage road forcing motorists to cramp each other dangerously on one lane. If your action is to propagate your creed, I am telling you, you will only attract the poor, young ignorant miscreants of the society. Never the sane except of course the disgruntled.

Delinquency of your followers

“The delinquency of your followers and the disturbance of public peace is what makes you and them an easy target of the authority. This is happening when you can as well do very well without such unscrupulous public misbehaviour. Disruption of traffic flow is in fact a sign of unfaithfulness and lack of civilization.”

“You are blocking roads and forcing vehicles to dangerously face each other on one lane displaying arrogance and lawlessness. Young men brandishing knives and unsheathed swords, beating their chest, carrying inciting placards and chanting hate songs.

“How can you be the good servants of Allah when you are exactly opposite of what the Quran described them?

“My Brother, you have already lost three children on this path to perdition and shirk, so please repent and do not capitalise on the ignorance of our gullible youths to mislead them. If you don’t correct them now, when you die, Allah will not forgive you for whatever deviation they may add to yours.

“That they may bear their burdens entirely on the day of resurrection and also of the burdens of those whom they lead astray without knowledge; now surely evil is what they bear.”

“My Brother, I write you this open letter for others also not necessarily in your sect to get admonition. It is never intended to trigger a sectarian argument. It is about public order and mannerism.

“May Allah guide us all to his pleasure and give us the courage to revert to the truth and what is righteous.”

CareerNCAA Sacks 187 Staff Over Employment Irregularities by fkaz(op): 9:58pm On Dec 09, 2014
Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority, NCAA, Tuesday sacked 187 workers over irregular employment by the past management. Most of the affected staff were employed by the former Acting Director-General, NCAA, Engr. Benedict Adeyileka
Engr Benedict Adeyileka, now Director of Airworthiness and the Human Resources Director of the agency, Mr Austin Amadi, have since also been placed on suspension by the current NCAA DG, Dr. Mukhtar Usman and this received the approval of the Minister of Aviation, Chief. Osita Chidoka.

A letter with reference NCAA/DG/GEN/Vol.11/2014 signed by Mr A.M Yamsikit , General Manager, Human Resources, and distributed to the affected staff said “I refer to your appointment and subsequent resumption to duty and to inform you that the Ministry of Aviation directed that your appointment be suspended with immediate effect, pending the completion of an investigation being conducted by the Ministry”

“In the meantime, you are directed to hand over all NCAA property, including your identity card to your Head of Department while further developments on the matter will be communicated to you in due course, please”

The management further said that the engagement of the employees did not follow due process and receive approval from higher authorities. The salaries of the affected workers, a source in NCAA said, had since been suspended by the management.

The source added that the affected employees were hurriedly brought into the system towards the tail end of Adeyileka tenue as the Acting Director-General of the agency. No fewer than 700 employees had been engaged in NCAA in the past two years with most of them coming through the presidency, National Assembly and ministers.

Is like koro is more popular than jimi, why would they rig koro out, the election is not free and fair

Agbaje scored 432 votes as against the 346 by Obanikoro. The other aspirants, Babatunde Gbadamosi got 21 votes; Tokunbo Kamson, 46 votes and Adedeji Doherty, 21 votes.
The exercise was nearly marred by violence following a controversy which surrounded the number of votes cast by the delegates.
When the voting started, the Chairman of the electoral committee, Senator Shehu Kumo, announced that there were 806 delegates.
But when votes were being sorted, it was discovered that the number of votes cast were 863.
All efforts to get the number of votes and the number of delegates to tally proved abortive but Kumo insisted that the exercise should continue.
Amid the resistance by supporters of some of the aspirants, about 60 armed policemen formed a barricade around the ballot boxes and ensured that the counting continued.
When tables and chairs were overturned at the centre, Obanikoro immediately stormed out.

PoliticsPDP Suspends Tukur For Challenging Mu’azu by fkaz(op): 6:04am On Dec 05, 2014
For daring to return to his position as the national chairman of the ruling Peoples Democratic Party, members of the National Working Committee of the party have suspended Alhaji Bamanga Tukur from the party.
Also suspended is a PDP aspirant for the House of Representatives, Aliyu Abuba Gurin.
The suspension of the two members of the party, who are from Adamawa State, is to last for one month.
Their matter has also been referred to the party’s disciplinary committee.

The NWC took this decision at its meeting in Abuja on Wednesday.
The meeting was presided over by the embattled Acting National Chairman of the party, Alhaji Adamu Mu’azu.
But the outcome of the Wednesday meeting was made known to journalists via a statement on Thursday by the party’s National Legal Adviser, Mr. Victor Kwon.

He said the NWC took the decision because of the court case instituted against Mu’azu by the two men.
Kwon’s statement read in part, “The NWC of the PDP at its 395th meeting held yesterday (Wednesday ) December 3, 2014, reviewed recent national developments as they affect the party.

“Among others, the NWC deliberated on the court case instituted against the National Chairman of the Party, Ahmed Adamu Mu’azu, by the former National Chairman, Dr. Bamanga Tukur.
“The NWC reasoned that for instituting a claim and counter claim in suit FHC/ABJ /821/2014; Gurin vs PDP & 3 others, without first exploring and exhausting the party’s internal mechanism of redress and for attempting to stop the forthcoming National Convention to nominate the party’s Presidential candidate as well as regularise the position of the National Chairman and other members of the National Working Committee is unacceptable.

“The NWC hereby suspends Dr. Bamanga Tukur and Aliyu Abuba Gurin, for one month and refers them to the National Disciplinary Committee for infringing on section 58(1)(a)(b)(h)(l) of the PDP Constitution 2012(as amended).”

With this statement, Tukur will not be able to attend the party’s National Convention in Abuja on December 10 and 11 where the party will ratify the candidature of President Goodluck Jonathan as its presidential candidate for the 2015 election.

He will also not be able to vote during the PDP governorship primary in his state, where one of his sons, is an aspirant.
But in an earlier statement, Tukur denied being the originator of the case which was aimed at stopping the party’s convention and also to oust Mu’azu.

He said he was joined in the suit filed by Gurin and that as expected of him, he filed his own counter affidavits, stating his own side of the case in relation to the case.
Tukur, in the statement issued by his Special assistant on Media, Prince Oliver Okpala, said he was a mere defendant in the case.

The statement said, “It has come to the notice of Tukur, the mis-representation of facts bothering on the case instituted against the National Chairman of the PDP and three others by a member of the party, Alhaji Aliyu Buba Gurin.

“It must be put forward in its proper legal and historical perspective that Alhaji Tukur never initiated nor filed any case against Mu’azu, contrary to reports making headlines in national dailies.

“The wrongful report and misrepresentation of facts to the effect that Tukur filed a case urging the court to oust Mu’azu out of office is not only untrue but gross distortion of facts relating to the case instituted and filed by Gurin.

“Tukur was joined in the suit as a co-defendant in the suit and as is required in law filed his own counter affidavits, stating his own side of the case in relation to the suit filed by the plaintiff, Gurin.”
He said co-defendant in a case could not by any imagination in law be deemed as a plantiff who initiated and filed a suit before a law court.

So the equipment on the battle field are been use by un-trained army? That shows why military men abandon their armoury and run away anytime boko haram attack them, because they don't know how to use what they have in hand.
In my own opinion, i believe american knows nigeria has the men and equipment to crush boko haram, why not release some equipment to U.S for training so that it will be use effectively on battle field after training, instead of giving it to boko haram.
