BlueRayDick: A certain Walcott never got better sha. Walcott improved in so many areas till wanting to play CF/RW and injuries marred him..He started running from tackles and got lazy..We should have sold him in 2016. Many had gone to be better players, Gnabry,Oxlade,Benaccer,Vela and few more others, it can be argued they grew in lesser leagues and that shows how fans expectations and pressure makes development a bit hard especially among top teams in England... I'm not saying nuture them for 10 yrs nor offload them asap like some fans wish, but stirring the middle lane like we did for Iwobi. |

kokanepyramid: Correct me if I’m wrong. How do you plan on sitting back and at this same time be playing tiki taka from the back? that’s suicidal against any team talk more of Liverpool. To sit back u must be ready to hit on the counter, to hit on the counter you need fast players to transit from defense to attack. What does Emery do, field Xhaka that’s slow, partners him with Guen that’s slow and holds the ball more than necessary. Reason you always see Pepe and Auba miles away from them.
Reason I asked the other day what tactics is Emery playing, from the conversation and what I’ve seen he was using the wrong personnel for his tactics. It wasn’t about blaming Guen as some here understood. What I meant was that midfield pairing wasn’t suitable for the system he planned to operate. It can only work in a tiki taka team. All players can’t fit into every system. It’s like using Cech to play from the back, it’s suicidal but it doesn’t mean Cech is a bad goalie but does he fit such system that plays from the back the answer is NO everyday. I think he wanted to kickstart our attack from the back , then sit back, choke spaces when we don't have the ball.. To fast counter truly we need fast players, 2 or 3 players fast players around Auba will do, only Pepe looked fast and good for it.. Guen,Xhaka and Willock aren't very fast midfielders, Ceballos wasn't online at all, Niles and Monreal also aren't fast enough for Mane,Sallah,Arnold and Robertson.. Maybe Bellerin and Tierney could have been more suited. Fast players are for Anfield. |

MrDojo: During Klopp's first season we could see the style of play he wanted, right? Can we say the same for us? Well, maybe you can see it, but I honestly can't.
This is not an attack. I'm truly curious. We saw Klopp's style at Dortmund, We saw Emery at Sevilla and PSG.. It could be he's trying a new model,Players not fitting his style, changing methods for diff oppositions.. Top Coaches do change the way they approach games, Pep used 3 at the back against us, used 442 sometimes with Aguero and Jesus upfront.. Klopp didn't press spurs in the final, he allowed them the ball and relied on counter. By the end of his 2nd year, we should be able to draw conclusions now that he has 65% of his players. |

Jencejyde: Play like that against Spurs or even Wolves or Leicester and we will lose. This mentality of sitting back is very un-arsenal. How on earth can you allow so much space for the opposing team to play around in the midfield. Credit goes to the attitude Klopp has instilled in the Liverpool players. Whether it be Salah or Mane or Firmino, as much as they have attacking impetus, they also DEFEND from the front and Help their fullbacks. I saw Henderson shouting at Mane when they were 3 nil up to cover Robertson when Pepe wanted to start running at Him. I can't remember how many time Auba or Pepe helped the fullbacks albeit the formation was weird. Willock and Guen were just made to overwork, they had no business protecting the wings when they were assigned a primary role in the midfield. Liverpool just went from coast to coast with ease. I really do not understand what emery is trying to instill here. Even Sarri (former Chelsea coach ) Knew what he wanted and played his style regardless of whatever anyone thought. Playing 4 3 3 one day and 3 5 2 the next and 3 4 3 the next just does not sit well with me. We need an identity in the way we play. heck if we are gonna get beaten with an identity then so be it but at least lets always be compact in our play. If we play like this against even Norwich, they will win. The Premier league is un-forgiving and big teams must always show their dominance. Credit to Crystal Palace on their away performance at United. That was simply brilliant Bro, I expect this kind of performance at the Etihads again, The mentality of sitting back is unArsenal truly, but not in this era,That was during the early Wenger days when we had one of the best attacking side in Europe.. City sat back last time at Anfield, it was tactical, individual errors and chance missed cost us.. At the bolded, That's one more area Liverpool edge us, they have established front3 of 3 yrs, we only have RW (Pepe) and CF( Auba/Laca).. Also Firmino and Mane drops deep and helps defence, Only Laca defends here. We'll get there hopefully, klopp's project is almost 5yrs, while Emery's still 1 year plus. |

Keky: Those that said they failed to see Emery's tactics in this game are blind. Chances came when Robertson and TAA overlapped because we played narrow defensively. We dealt with most of the crosses we forced them to play and countered with Xhaka being the supplier to Pepe & Auba . The tactical plan was sound. Need to take your chances and two individual mistakes ruined the plan. I’m very critical of Emery but I don’t think today was on him. Your head is correct, na the same thing we been dey yarn... They resorted to cross and nod, the game could have been similar to that 0-2 Chelsea with Gerrard's slip. If we'd gone to attack them, its sure gon be a cricket score, if Auba had scored that volley, I'm sure Liverpool will crack, they'll commit more bodies forward and that'll be their undoing. |

Unto the next one. Emery no want media attention this week, he knew they were going to be busy on utd and Solkjer, 1-2 loss to palace go get more headlines than 3-1 to European champions.. Its still this same fans that will call for his sack and call him Wenger 2.0, you'd seen stuffs like, where's the mental strength, Rubbish our transfer activities and put unrest in the dressing room. He is better at that Position than Ceballos. But if he didn't start Ceballos today, the fans would have had a similar meltdown like now.
.... Auba had 32 touches while Pepe had over 50. Auba too was missing today.
... The midfield sat deep to protect Xhaka and protect the fullbacks. It was double load on the youngsters, they don't have the stamina for that. I am surprised that some of our fans can be so biased and blind to see what was truly happening on the field. I hated that we faced Liverpool too early, poor Ceballos that's still settling jejely, they showed him fire at Anfield, Torreira looks better now on that ground, Na all of them gather suffer last year.. When we told them it's too early to play Liverpool last week, they called us fake fans, now our prediction came to pass, they have turned the table around and rambling nonsense. Analysing football without bias is a big problem on this thread. It's why people prefer commenting on other teams thread I dont see the point in being “brave” if you are in reality just getting slaughtered. When we have done well away against big teams, we played more compact. It’s fun in theory to think a wide open game will mean we win, but we’ve already seen how that goes because Wenger has done it so many times and failed so many times. The above is fans opinion that explains it more, I noticed Chelsea, utd and Spurs keep it tight and lose honourably against superior teams. Wenger's philosophy of we are an attacking team, go out and play them was the reason for our cricket scores... What I hate the most is trashing 5-1, 6-0 haba, it dents confidence and affects team's psychology. I hate seeing - minus on our goal difference. |

It's no rocket science torreira came in and stabilise the midfield klopp was forced to remove giji cos torreira will press and contain him. Nawa o They only looked matchable with our tactics, we made their attack ordinary and defence prone to counters, I dey you if we had attacked them, it will be 5 in our net, you don't allow mane and Sallah to run at Anfield, they ill kill you, is it Niles or Montreal that'll survive their pace? This was mourinho's tactics those days in big away games, he either gets his result or lose honourably he allows you dominate him, but his deadly forwards will kill the game off, unfortunately Our forwards blundered it.. Our midfielders sat too deep and we had no attacking player among them, only ceballos and he didn't look sharp today. Though Torreira is sharper and better than the rest,he should have been brought on earlier on. |

MrDojo: So you think we played well? Forget, even of Pepe scored his one one one, Liverpool will still equalize and score 2 or 3 more. How do I know? History tends to repeat itself in this match.
For kickoff until Liverpool were done tormenting them, Arsenal did not look like a team that could do anything.
Or have you forgotten that our so called chances came from individual mistakes from Liverpool players, and not tactics (Andrian panic clearance, Henderson failing to clear the ball).
Well, you have your opinion, and mine is that they played utter nonsense. Mistake is part of football, They also scored from Luiz's 2 mistakes.. they couldn't break us down, they resorted to cross and nod. Bro, This is Anfield where they haven't lost in years, you can't expect us to go at them, dominate and create Chances like we are against Brighton, we purposely allowed them the ball, and hoped pepe, Auba and Ceba would finish things off.. Had Pepe and Auba scored those goals, Liverpool will crack, Arnold and Robert will be so high up and that gives our front 2 space to bury them off. Unfortunately, they spurned the chances.. Also ceballos couldn't connect with our forwards, Liverpool pressed and muscled him a lot, Matteo and Willock, though tried but aren't for Anfield and ain't used to each other. |

Me that don't have UEFA coaching license, I knew want to and not to do before the game (at least on terms of line up). Emery chose the cowardly route, and his very much to blame, as well as the players. In fact, his tactics made it difficult for the players.
Another thing, remember when we were discussing about Auba? This match just showed the thing I hate most about the guy, he misses too many chances (granted they were half chances). Auba is another Ozil on away big games, its not against Liverpool you use him on the flanks, didn't threaten Arnold nor offered protection for Montreal. I'm thinking Emery doesn't like Lava. |

Roland17: But Liverpool dey play ball sha. They know when to apply and relax the press, build from the back and concede possession. This is just the truth, you think its easy to be unbeaten in 2 yrs on that ground, the best way is to sit back, counter and utilize the few chances that will happen..Auba and pepe didn't bury those and we were punished. They should ask PSG,Barca, city,Napoli etc why despite their quality attackers couldn't do jack there.. This is not a ground you attempt to control, you just take your chances..
