Normal, but the designers of the system must either be drink when they did it or they didn't pay enough attention to security, me that's why I avoid financial applications that has a large scale with large transactions because only 40% of your focus will be on design the rest will be on security cause mehnnn

I don't judge a programmer by their portfolio afterall how will I even know they built it themselves? Even if your a pure backend guy, no backend dude will claim he can't bring up a basic portfolio UI design, that's a lie because backend interacts with frontend, he might not be very good in the frontend but I'm sure a simple portfolio website should be in reach and he can Google like every normal programmer guy let's end this, the debate won't ever end

It's not about it being wrong or anything, it's a matter of P R I N C I P L E. If you lack the drive of making your own portfolio website which is honestly very easy then what makes you think you can actually be a good programmer?, personally if someone didn't even build his own portfolio website then as a developer he is thrash and his skills are probably so-so that's all (this applies only to those who building websites is their area)

Hmm, bet9ja kinda website would cost you millions of naira, and let's not go with the maintenance and security aspect.

Bet9ja was hacked and completely taken over a couple of weeks ago, I don't know whether the hack was due to bad code but that's just something you should plan for, it's that complex.

You'll get someone that would quote you for 100k, but don't expect magic. Building is one thing, constant security update is another.

When I took a Harvard course there is something called academic honesty basically you can get help but no one is allowed to directly show you the solution it's something like that, portfolio websites you can look at designs to get inspiration but to buy one to use and not build it yourself just shows how unprofessional and possibly shitty you are

So? In this day and age unless he is s cripple I refuse to believe he can't get 200 daily to buy data, how much data do veteran developers need solely on work? First of all becoming a "genius" coder has alot more to do with just working 5 hours a day, people might spend their entire lives without meeting a so called "genius coder" those guys are people who can write a sorting algorithm just by reading the description and get it in the first try, my advice is to not strive for perfection just go for balance you don't have to be the best to be better than the best

But you still have money to buy data, go hustle like everyone else

Nooope. nodejs is truly not a programming language. That's been the only thing I flagged yet as well after skimming a little. Probably, OP failed to proofread and justify his article of errors before his posting yet programmers in the house had it so much on OP. The brickbats was very unecessary and uncalled for. Some comments were just so irrational too. And the fact OP compared nodejs with JavaScript isn't strange since the topic is a question asked amongst newbies and sophomores. When building a portfolio website it's general work ethics to build everything yourself or else you aren't even a qualified developer, portfolio websites aren't that complicated so why the need to steal code? Just look at some for inspiration

Sorry I don't think I fully understand what you mean, footer ke? Generally there isn't a need to make a footer specifically responsive just once the whole page is responsive that's it, footers don't really have much things in it apart from copywrite and some contact info

Back to the question, do you memorize/cram them?
How do you remember your codes without forgetting them? Or you just have to remember the concept?

For me it's more like I've embedded it into my muscle memory I automatically know what to do when I reach where to do it and if I'm stuck I'll just Google it

Comrade with doings but I somehow agree with you, I was a bit offended about how he asked about it as if you will learn standard programming from some weekend lessons, a random Nigerian teaching you how to program is a bad idea it's better to just learn it online like how alot of people do there are tons of great college level courses out there that will make you a regular level programmer once your done with it and tons of books also

Good evening bosses in the house and beginners like me alike.

I've always wanted to become a WordPress theme developer when I ran my first blog back in 2015 and was marvelled by the designs of some themes which I couldn't afford back then (never knew nulled themes were a thing back then).

Well, prior to Dec 2020, I decided to learn coding and started with html.

January 2021 during my coding journey, school resumed and I had to focus on my grades as they were sort of lacking.

April 2021, I had to go for internship and decided to go back to coding and continued my journey. During that time, I was able to take a JavaScript course which spanned throughout the period of my internship (the course is actually 60hours long).

August 24th, I had to resume school and had to focus on my studies yet again! .

To cut the long story short, I still can't grasp some JavaScript concepts (probably due to my inability of focusing on it).

The only thing I can do with JavaScript are just basic things like hiding and showing a nav bar, basic countdown timer, and just some basic animations done with the intersection observer API.

I can't even remember how to pull data from an API via ajax and promises.

So, my question is, is JavaScript really hard compared to a strongly typed language like dart? Or it's just my inability of practicing JavaScript daily?

It's perfectly normal to not fully understand a programming language sometimes it's about how it syncs with you I'd say and sometimes about more practice, for me JavaScript came fairly easy because the language I learnt to introduce me to software development was C which is similar I'd say
My advice is if it hooks just switch to its other 2 brothers CSS and HTML or you can still focus on JavaScript I think there was a server side framework built completely on JavaScript it was node.js I believe, you can branch and learn that I believe it'll help you understand the language more deeply
