Proper keyword research and link-building. Write articles based on searches by the audience you want. You don't write articles and find an audience. You look for what the audience is searching for and produce a better resource than what is available. Of course, this is a slow method.

If you have a good budget, SEM (adwords and co) or Native advertising (Taboola, for instance) can help you get quick audience. This is the fast method.

Of course, keywords research is a must, and i'm already handling that aspect. Thanks for your input.

My advice is that you target global audience. Just provide good content that is not specific to Nigeria. It is also possible that some of your posts target global audience and others target Nigerian audience. That is fine too.

Start with AdSense advertising in mind. It will help you to create quality website and content. When you get approved for AdSense, ads placement is very important. Seek help on this if you don't want to go through the learning and waiting time to earn substantially. Great content beats every other thing though.

Also, start with good CMS, good theme, good and original content and good search engine optimization strategy.

If you want to launch and start making money without going through many "learning from mistakes", get someone who has been in the blogging business to mentor you especially on SEO aspect.

Blogging can be lucrative, no doubt - if you know what you're doing. Five years ago, if anyone one told me that i would be in the blogging business, i would have laughed. But now i'm working to launch my first ever blog and my goal is to reach an international audience, eventually, with it. I'm going to be blogging in the automobile niche btw.

So my question is: is it wise to want to target an international audience starting out? If yes, how would you advice to do it? If not, how can one make it by targeting only Nigerian markets?

I have an advice of my own, especially to the super pretty ladies out there. Just try and be serious with a man you love early on. Build together, plan together, grow together.
